Awakening

...5th August, 2012, Covert SHIELD Facility, New York....

Within a covert and probably the largest SHIELD facility, several scientists were going about examining a small blue cube among other things....

Deep inside the facility, within a small and well guarded room, a young man was lying on a bed, with several medical devices attached to his body, as several scientists attended to him.

The young man had long silver hair, and his face was relatively handsome as he laid down looking like some sort of princely character from Disney...

" Any progress on subject X-99?" Suddenly, a middle aged man in a black suit walked into the room as he took out his ID and showed it to the guards who were at the entrance.

" Agent Coulson, as early as always." The leading scientist, a short middle aged Asian looking man smiled and nodded at the man in the black suit.

" The subject was made several shocking improvements over the last few months. For one, he was awakened quite the terrifying healing factor. His third degree burns and atrophied muscles have healed all healed completely. " The scientist sighed and took a seat on a small stool.

" However, there are two things that worry me. " The man said as he rubbed his temples.

He then picked up a file and threw it to the man in the suit who read it as he frowned.

" The average human heart beat is 70 beats per minute, but the average heartbeat of the subject is about 5 times that of a normal human. Also, all his cells seem to continually produce some sort of dark lightning type energy which is keeping him alive." The scientist explained as the man frowned deeply.

" So he's not human? What is he, a mutant?" The man in suit asked. " He has an X gene, but unfortunately, it's a recessive one, and not the cause of his current condition." The scientist answered.

" And what is that supposed to mean?" The man asked the scientist. " It means our subject is neither human nor fully mutant, he's on a whole new different organism on a different scale of his own." The scientist said with a smile.

......

" Thank you very much for your hard work Dr. Hamada. The Director is sure to reward you handsomely." Outside the facility the two men walked to a car, while they shook hands.

" I think it's going to rain, I better get back to work." The scientist said as he looked up to the sky and saw dark clouds.

" Crack ! Crack ! Boom!!" Just as he turned around and began to walk, lightning struck the facility which shocked him to the core.

......

Within the small room, the figure on the bed who had been unconscious for more than 3 years immediately opened his eyes for the first time, as yellowish lightning flashed in his blue pupils, as a massive bolt of lightning which seemed to have struck from the sky, smashed into his body.

Only this time, he completely absorbed the lightning energies, as he sprung to his feet.

" Stay where you are!!! Don't come close!!!" Startled by the commotion, the guards burst into the room and pointed their weapons at the figure.

Suddenly, the body of the figure began to vibrate at unnatural speeds, as he took a step forward.

" Bang!! Bang!!" The guards immediately fired their guns, wanting to end him once and for all, however in the eyes of the figure, the bullets were moving so slow he felt like he was hallucinating.

" Booommm!!!" Suddenly, yellowish lightning began to streak across his body, as he took a step forward and blasted forward like a jet, accompanied by a sonic boom which sent the guards flying.

" What the hell was that?" The scientist, Mr. Hamada and the man in black suit, SHIELD's own Phil Coulson immediately heard a sonic boom from within the facility, as a streak of yellow lightning bypassed them, as the residual electric currents and the immense force from the speed of the yellow streak sent them flying.

" Mr. Hamada. What the hell was that?" Coulson immediately recovered and walked to Mr. Hamada who was bleeding from his nose.

" It's him! Subject X-99, he's awake." The scientist smiled as he said.

" Sir!! There's a problem! The subject X-99 is awake and he blasted out of the facility at hyperspeed sir." Coulson immediately took out his phone and gave a report.

" Mariah, access every camera in the city and give me eyes on the subject." Nick Fury was immediately instructed on the helicarrier, as Mariah went to work.

Meanwhile within the city, a yellow streak of lightning was moving at speeds unsusceptible to the naked eye, as it passed by shops, houses and several buildings.

" Jesus Christ, how fast is he moving? " Nick Fury asked as he watched several cameras try to capture the figure, only to end up with a blurry image.

" Sir, he's moving at Mach 3.12, approximately 3798km/hr!! " One of the SHIELD agents responded, as Fury's eyes widened in surprise.

" That's not hyperspeed that's Godspeed!" Fury sighed he continued watching. He was wondering where the subject was going to.

....

Meanwhile the figure in the yellow lightning, Duke arrived at a destroyed facility that was halfway across town in just a few seconds.

" Old man." He stood in front of the destroyed Oscorp facility where the explosion had occurred, his expression melancholic and his tears threatening to fall.

He was currently wearing only a grey sweatpant, and was barefooted and bare chested, as he gazed at the ruins.

His relationship with the old man was a bit complicated, but he was the one who had raised him and he loved him dearly. It was a little hard for him to accept that he was truly gone from the world.

Tears dripped down his cheeks as he clenched his fists tightly .....

.....

" The ruined Oscorp facility? Did he lose someone in there?" Mariah Hill asked as she watched Duke's figure silently standing in front of the facility alone. Nick Fury watched Duke with a frown as he thought about an issue deeply.....
