Trick 9: Getting a job!

Ace looked at the duo from a bit away before leaving and going down an alleyway, coming to a door. He looked at the directions given to him by a shopkeeper.

He walked inside and saw a bunch of people drinking at tables, talking quietly. He gave everyone a glance and walked to the bar as people stared eyeing him with frowns. Ace snorted and glared at them, stopping at the bar, saying "Boss."

The bartender came over with an unfriendly expression, "What." Ace put down a few gold coins, saying "You have any info on the 'Eye'?" The Boss looked at the coins and wiped a glass silently for a few moments before saying, "Boy, you want info, you're gonna needa cough up some more."

Ace put down another coin and said coldly "Don't test my patience." The Boss sneered at him and took the coins, saying "Follow me." as he walked away, putting the glass down.

Ace followed the man, who took out a wand and flicked it at a wall.

A door appeared and he walked inside.

Ace followed him and the man walked behind another counter, rifling through files before pulling one out, saying "Eye, huh? I hadn't heard about them for a while now." Ace took the file from his hands and read through it, frowning "What is this?"

The Boss lit a Tobacco pipe, replying "Your info." Ace frowned, "This is the wrong Eye!" The Boss shrugged, saying "There's plenty of 'Eye' organizations, mate. They cost extra."

Ace sighed and said "Why do you have to force me…" before grabbing the Boss' neck in a split second, surprising him. Ace slapped his palm on top of the man's head, saying "When I snap my fingers, you'll give me all your files named 'Eye'."

Ace snapped his fingers and let the man go. The Man turned around and handed Ace a stack of files.

Ace started reading through them carefully.

A while later

He frowned and released the Boss, who blinked in confusion. Ace said "Thanks." Before leaving the tavern quickly.

He rubbed the now full coin purse and muttered with a frown "They don't know about the Eye either?" he leaned against the wall, crossing his arms as he thought about it.

The Eye was too secretive!

If you weren't a part of it, it was almost impossible to find.

Ace didn't know where to go, he knew the hidden Headquarters was in England, but he never knew where it was specifically. He couldn't just search every nook and cranny of a country, could he?

He knew that the Eye was a hidden organization but this was a little too much, right?

He sighed to himself and muttered "Get some rest and continue looking tomorrow. The Eye can't hide forever, right?" just as he was about to leave, the lady from before appeared in front of him, saying "The Eye?"

Ace looked up and the lady frowned in thought, "I seem to have heard of that before, was it in the library?" Ace asked quickly "You know what the Eye is, miss?" The Lady smiled and said "Minerva, thank you. And I seem to have heard of it. Is it the one that uses performing magic to rob from the rich?"

Ace's eyes lit up and he said "Yes! You know where they are?!" Minerva shook her head and said "Unfortunately not. Although we have a wide array of records at Hogwarts." Ace froze and Minerva continued "Perhaps you could come and see?"

Ace frowned and said "What do you want?" Minerva smiled teasingly, "I would like to know how you can use magic without a wand, as a muggle as well… It's very curious." Ace frowned and said "So like a deal? I get to come to Hogwarts to read at the library and you find out about Wandless magic?"

Minerva pursed her lips and stretched out her hand, saying "I suppose." Ace looked at her hand and went over it in his head.

The benefits of going to this school are immense. He can learn a new system of magic which was very exciting for him. At the same time he can go through records, perhaps even read other books on magic and other things.

The cons seem to be spending time with this old lady.

Ace finally stretched out his hand and shook Minerva's, saying "Alright, you have a deal." she smiled, "Excellent. Hold on tight." Ace was confused, saying "Wha-" before twisting and shooting into the sky like a pillar of smoke.

A while later

Ace and Minerva landed in an office. Ace turned to the side and vomited onto the floor, complaining "Oh god! What was that!? I think I'm gonna die!" Minerva rolled her eyes and waved her wand, saying "Honestly! How uncouth! It's a simple traveling spell."

Ace held onto his stomach and replied weakly, "Simple… eh? I don't want to learn magic anymore…"

Suddenly an incredibly old man walked over, saying "Ah… I recall the first time I traveled through Apparation." he chuckled to himself and added "Quite the experience if I do say so myself."

Minerva looked at him and waved, "Albus, I've brought a very interesting fellow. He is capable of magic without the need for a wand!" Albus stroked his beard and looked at Ace with interest, saying "I see. A so-called 'Outside Wizard' I've heard of them. I believe they are called Mutants?"

Minerva shook her head and pointed at Ace, saying "Heavens no, this lad is no Mutant. His magical power is far too weak for that." Albus hummed to himself and stroked his beard in thought.

Ace rubbed his stomach and looked at the old man with a beard that nearly touched the floor, "Oh wow… What's a Mutant?" Albus looked at Minerva, replying "You wish to let him learn, Minerva? He is a bit…" Minerva nodded and spoke up for Ace, "Yes, quite. Although, I would like to see if it's possible. At any rate, we wouldn't be losing anything."

Albus stroked his beard and turned to Ace, smiling kindly, "My boy, I don't seem to have heard your name?" Ace licked his lips and cleared his throat, stretching his hand out as he replied "Ace Brand. I'm here with the intention of viewing your records on the Eye. I'll be out of your hair before you know it."

Albus looked at his hand and shook it gently, smiling "I see. Charmed, Mr. Brand. I see you've bought many supplies for first year students…" he squinted a little in amusement, "Made a little friend, I assume?"

Ace was startled and looked at Albus in confusion, Albus smiled wordlessly before turning to Minerva, declaring "I will allow it. However, should any accidents happen…" Minerva smiled and replied "Of course, I understand." before turning around and adding "Come on, little fellow. This way." as she walked out.

Ace looked at Albus in confusion before being dragged away with a spell as Albus watched him go with a smile.

As Ace disappeared, Albus looked at a crystal ball, stroking his beard as he muttered "Have you sent him here as a test, I recall our agreement on not interfering with mortal affairs?" he paused for a moment before smiling kindly, "Although, if he is willing to learn he shall not be refused."

He walked away from the Crystal ball that lit up orange for a moment before dimming. He sat at his desk and picked out a Golden Snitch. He opened it and looked at the black stone in it, wondering to himself.

He finally shook his head and put it back before returning to his work…
