BACK HOME

Aldin Randell

After making modifications to the city I went down to ensure everything was alright. I was too tired from all the mana I had used at the battle back at Ereel in addition to the energy I had just used to make modifications to the city topping it. I was about to head back to the castle but before I could even make a single step I felt my consciousness slip away and my eyes closing. The next thing I remember was waking up in a room that seemed familiar, the room was not in any way big or luxurious, and I took note of that immediately. Then memories flooded back and I could finally recognise where I was, this was my childhood bedroom, and all my childhood items were there which brought me memories of my childhood, I stood

up from the bed and found myself with my armour still on, I took it off and remained with the clothes from when I had taken down the forces that tried to kill me.'

With my extremely sensitive nose, I could smell the sweat on me, from all that I had done in my most recent battles sweat was guaranteed. Using water magic and a little bit of fire magic to make it more comfortable I was able to get myself cleaned and my clothes as well, they also had a few tears so I did some repairs. I then walked out of my room and bumped my head as I walked out. I went downstairs where I met a room full of adults and they all turned to stare at me.

*********

When Aldin landed on the ground he did not take a single step before he lost consciousness and Xander held him hence saving him from falling to the ground and then carried him to the castle where the new count could be seen asleep on his desk in his office, after all, he had been working a lot for the past few days and he needed a break. Xander did nothing to wake him up and just left him be, but he did go to the knight that he had seen helping him.

"How may I help you sir?" The knight asked with reverence, this was the minimum he could do since he was dealing with a magic tower master and pissing a tower master was not what he wanted to cause his death.

"Send a knight and ask them to deliver this letter to the third tower," Xander said and in the air using water magic a thin letter appeared, it had been sealed and meant to open only when it was given to the one it was addressed to.

"I will," the knight said ready to leave.

"And ask one of the maids to take me to one of the rooms to lay Aldin down," Xander said and Oliver did just that before hurrying away to the knights.

One of the maids came over and helped Aldin to his bed. Xander placed their boxes on the edge of the room and sat at one of the desks.

The boxes had been enchanted to follow them wherever they went but they also needed to be placed where they would injure nobody who could tumble over them

As Aldin rested Aldin kept on thinking of what he had read in the scroll, from what he had read, he was now questioning everything he knew about magic, the letter he had read highlighted how much he never knew.

"How much do they know?" Xander asked himself instinctively out loud.

A creature that was around a thousand years old had helped him, but the information she shared shocked him a lot.

But now it all made sense, every time he tried to break through he could always feel something missing for him, and now he had the answer but the answer was not anything he could have possibly expected.

While still in his thoughts he heard a knock at the door.

"Get in," Xander said.

A man in black armour with blue a water and ice design walked in, on his side was a sword that emitted great power, he was a knight of the third tower.

"Report," Xander said in a cold voice.

"Preparations are in the way and the items are on their way to the destination. Also, here is the information you asked for," the knight said handing over to Xander a piece of paper.

Xander looked at it before folding it and placing it in his pocket.

"I need you to carry Aldin to Aden for me and ensure he does not wake up along the way," Xander said and left the room.

When Xander left, he left the guard in the room with Aldin.

'I am a knight of the third tower, should I really be doing this,' the knight thought to himself doubting his purpose in life but he held in and just went to pick up Aldin, then he made an ice board to carry Aldin on and place him in together with his blankets and began to carry him to the Aden city far east.

Meanwhile had gone full blast from the city to Aden and it took him a couple of minutes before he got there.

Since he wanted to disguise himself in order to see the Randells without being caught he raised the cloak he had to hide his face and went into the city, since he needed to find the Randell residence without raising any suspicion.

Xander headed to the count's residence.

With the help of the night's darkness, he was able to sneak into the count's manor and the fact that there were not as many. When he got into the mansion he went to his office where he found the count inside. When he opened the door the count was about to scream but Xander appeared next to him covered his mouth and then showed him a pendant that showed his relationship with the third tower.

The count quieted down and did not even try to make any noise.

"How may I help the third tower?" The count knelt and asked.

'I wonder what brings the third tower here?' the count thought to himself.

"I am here looking for the Randell's residence, it has to do with their son," Xander said.

The count was shocked and did not dare hide his expression.

"Is there something I should know?" Xander asked curious about what the expression meant.

"There is and I think you need to know about it," The count said with an expression that showed how he dreaded the topic.

"What is it?" Xander asked worried at what the man meant.

"it has to do with their son, I have reason to believe the child is demonic," the court said.

"Please explain," Xander asked curious what the man meant.

"The child's origins are unknown, he was delivered here by a black mage before she disappeared into thin air," the count said and shocked Xander.

'Does this mean the dark owl is related to Aldin,' Xander thought to himself and his expression was one that showcased his shock.

"And the Randell couple adopted him against the warning of the people around them and even dared attack innocent citizens of the city. The kid himself even killed a few men who were passing by the city and even performed an execution, we have tried to stop their tyranny but have been unable, please rescue us from them," The count said and got on his knees asking for help.

'Aldin has not told me anything about his life, but from the report I got from Alastor, all this man says is false, the reports also mention this man's association with criminals, he has had a lot taken from him but he has not once learnt his lesson, too bad for him, he met me today. Time to take a few leaves out of ALdin's book,' Xander thought to himself.

"Take me to his home," Xander said.

'Time for your end, now I can finally get you all off of my back,' the count thought to himself.

He got out and together with some of his knights he and Xander headed to the Randell's residence. The count had gabbed some knights on his way out and with the help of the night's darkness they were able to sneak their way to the Randell residence, before they got to the Randells' residence Xander could tell there was a very powerful array around the home, the count and his men walked in pointing their swords at the couple resting on the couch.

Before they could move a single step they were frozen stiff.

Xander walked through them and appeared to the Randells.

The air suddenly became tense.

Before Xander could say anything the two were already taking action. The whole room immediately went dark, light vanished from the whole house. Ice had already covered Xander and ice lances were aimed at Xander.

"I am Aldin's master!" Xander said not wanting to get into a fight with Aldin's parents.

The Randells calmed down but did not back down.

"What do you mean?" Sylvia said but her position was not known.

"Your twelve-year-old son who is having his birthday tomorrow," Xander said.

"How do you know that?" Mr Randell asked.

"Because you sent a letter to the academy and it got to me," Xander said.

Everything went back to normal and the Randells appeared back in their seats.

Mr Randell could now properly see Xander and immediately recognized him. He went stiff for a second before acting like everything was normal.

"Who are you?" Mr Randell asked.

"I am Xander Storm, master of the third magic tower," Xander said and it was time for Sylvia to tense up but she held herself back.

Xander was so worried about having a good first impression with the Randells that he failed to notice their odd behaviour.

'Now I know why the kid grew up to be a monster,' Xander thought to himself.
