Chapter 9 - One Week (2)

"Oh, right. Well, there's one week until the Opening Ceremony of the Academy, so if you want to join it then you'd need to get there before then."

Darius quickly nodded as he understood what this meant.

He would basically have a week to have the biggest amount of Lifespan that he could possibly gather. He didn't know how much he would be able to have by the end of the week, but he would try his hardest that's for sure.

He also had to figure out how to get stronger, because being immortal could be fun, but if he was so weak that anyone would be able to kill him with a single hit. Then, it wouldn't really matter how long his theoretical lifespan would be.

That was why during this week, he wouldn't only try to have a higher lifespan, he would also try to figure out how this system of his worked as he was in the complete dark for the moment.

"Do you want me to help you to prepare?" asked Ashe, seeing that Darius hadn't said anything yet.

Darius hearing this didn't really have a reason to refuse as her presence would just be beneficial to him in the long run.

"I mean if you want to stay you can. Oh and before I forget can I keep this knife?" asked Darius showing her the knife which she had thrown a short while ago.

"That old thing... Of course, you can it's not even an awakened weapon, ahaha," said Ashe laughing at his ignorance.

Darius didn't comprehend everything, but still nodded his head, happy to have a weapon to fight against the monster inside this zone.

And about this zone, Darius still ignored whether or not a D-Rank Danger was high or low, he knew that it wasn't the highest in terms of strength as he based his thinking on the letter used and also the goblin which he had faced.

But, he didn't know if it was the weakest of the weakest or something similar to that.

"Also, about the monster inside this zone, are they like the weakest monsters there are?" asked Darius as he still remembered fighting that goblin and killing it really easily.

Ashe nodded as she started explaining, "I guess, you don't know about Danger Zones, well it doesn't matter that much either way. Basically, the weakest danger zones are D-Ranked, just like the one we are in right now, and it goes up all the way up to S-Rank."

"So this place is the best place for me to start getting stronger and training," muttered Darius in a low tone, talking to himself.

"What sort of monsters can we find in a D-Rank Danger Zones?" asked Darius, curious about what he was going to face in the week that was to come.

Ashe hearing that started to think as she didn't remember much about D-Rank Dangers Zones as she was always in higher-ranked danger zones.

"Well, I can't tell you about all of them, but from the years that I spent here coming to see each week. I saw a lot of different monsters from goblins, to wolves, to minotaurs. Although, minotaur are rare," she said basing her information on the experience she had.

Darius nodded, taking all of the information in, not wanting to let any of it go to the trash.

Minotaurs seemed to be interesting creatures that came straight from fantasy movies, well... back on Earth.

"So, do you want to start right away and hunt monsters around here," said Ashe, looking at immobile Darius.

'Oh, right, I don't have much time left,' thought Darius as he nodded toward Ashe.

He started advancing, but then he thought about something, he didn't even know where the monsters were.

"Um, could you guide me toward the nearest monsters?" asked Darius, stumped.

"Ahaha, of course, but don't expect me to intervene. I'll only come in if you're about to die, just focus on fighting and I'll take care of everything else," uttered Ashe, explaining to him what actions she was going to take while he would be facing all those monsters.

Darius nodded, as he hadn't expected any help from the beginning either way.

"Alright, off we go," said Ashe as she started at a reasonable speed as she didn't want Darius to get lost.

Darius started running behind her for a couple of seconds as he could already feel some strains on his body.

'Wow, this body sure is trash,' he said to himself as he continued to power through the pain in his legs.

The fact that this new body of his had never trained even once in his life would surely reduce some of Darius's abilities, but Darius knew that in the future he would be surpassing his past self as it wouldn't be limited by the human's limits.

Then, Ashe stopped running, as she turned her head back seeing the panting Darius keeping up with her.

'Maybe I'll reduce my speed next time,' she thought, looking at the state of Darius's body.

"Alright, we're here," she said, quietly.

"See this," said Ashe, pointing toward a small group of three goblins in front of her.

"This will be your first fight of the week, try to win," she said as she disappeared from Darius's eyes instantly, moving faster than what Darius was able to handle.

Darius, who was now alone hiding behind a tree, decided to observe how the goblins behave before acting as he had never seen how goblins acted without any pressure on them.

Ashe, who was on the top of a tree which was nearby, nodded at his actions.

She agreed that this was the best decision when fighting enemies, she would also observe before attacking.

Well, against enemies of her level.

As Darius continued observing the small group of goblins in front of him, he noticed that they seemed to be doing some weird task without worrying about their surroundings at all.

'Well, it seems that goblins really aren't smart, movies didn't lie about that part,' thought Darius, as he started advancing discreetly toward them.
