5 Smell of Flowers

Have you ever wondered what happened after death? Mei never thought about this before. That was until she saw the car heading down. Fast, almost as if it was running from something else. It was a silly mistake, she thought. Mei just happened to trip over her foot as she was waiting for the light to turn red. She had just come out of the court room, with Natsu by her side. Her divorce was final. How ironic that when things were changing, it was going to change again.

Mei looked around, knowing that she was not going to move fast enough to get out of the way. And for a while, it seemed like time had slowed down as she looked around. Mei saw the look of Natsu's face. She saw Sora run towards her from the court house and she saw a strange man dressed in a black yutaka, standing just off the side walk a little bit. His beauty was so overwhelming, it looked as if he did not belong in this world. His hair was long and pitch black, a scarf covered his slim neck.

Mei turned around again, the car was slowly approaching closer, inch by inch. Then as if the time was back to it's regular form, the car went back to speeding down. And Mei was hit.

Everything had turned black, dark like that man's hair. Mei couldn't hear anything but a ring in her ears, then all went silent. She opened her eyes, looking around, and not necessarily confused nor shocked. It was almost as if she had expected this. In fact, it was as if she had wanted this to happen. Like Mei had already knew her very own future.

She looked down at her clothes, she had stopped talking care of herself for a long time. When did it start? She wondered. Oh right, it was when everything had gone downhill. Mei stood up, brushed some dust off of herself and started to walk in the endless void. Mei knew she was dead. Somehow an ache appeared in her chest and she started crying. Yes, she did miss her dear friend. Her family? possibly not. Sora?...She didn't know. But she did want to move on, even if she wasn't alive anymore. This was for the best.

All of a sudden a bright light engulfed her whole body. The shock was extreme for Mei's eyes and cause her to tumble and fall. Then she began to feel tired against her will. Slightly annoyed, Mei tried to resist. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop herself from falling asleep. Mei felt herself begin to float. No she wasn't floating, Mei felt someone's arms around her.

"Sleep, your soul needs some rest." A man's voice, gentle and deep. Her mind was blank. Mei caught a sweet scent, it was the smell of flowers and the aftermath of rain, and it brought her confort. Then Mei had sinked into a deep slumber, with no worries or thoughts to disturb her soul.
