Chapter 6

Her struggles had proofed useless, as she had been struggling to get out of the grip of the men holding her, but she kept struggling, even till she was brought before King. Only then did she stay still, which was majorly by the enforcement of D and J. And partly on the side of realization, that her struggles were useless.

"boss" T, D and J say, calling King's attention to them.

King, looking away from his food and waves at them slightly, then looked between all three of them, and lastly at Leah.

"T, wetin be this? Why you bring babe come my place?" King asked.

"I'm not his babe" Leah chipped in immediately, with an attitude, one King chose to ignore.

"no be wetin I talk be that. And I no dey follow you talk. T?" King said, then went back to his food, as he was waiting for T's response.

"maybe if you spoke better English I would understand" Leah muttered, but everyone in the room heard. King's hand stopped mid-way as he was about putting food in his mouth and D instantly flared up.

"see this babe o, na my oga you dey follow talk like that? I go daze you o!" D said, and to King that was a very rash tone, one they didn't use on ladies, or even as much made such treats to them.

"D!" King called, with his tone slightly above usual as he cautioned D.

"sorry boss" D instantly apologised. King he took the food in the spoon into his mouth and as he chewed, he was looking at Leah. When he had swallowed, he waited for some seconds, still looking at Leah, before he looked at T.

"I been ask you something" King asked T with a more stern tone this time around.

"yes boss. Sorry. we dey patrol, we con see the babe for our yard. Before I go even fit get chance ask her wetin she dey find, the babe con dey run. Na why we catch her, bring her here" T explained. King looked back at Leah.

"I go only ask you this question once. Who you be and wetin you dey find for my yard?" King asked, maintain his stern tone.

"I'm not saying anything to you. Just let me go. In fact you can take my car, that's all what I came with. I don't know anything. Just let me go" Leah said as she thought that silence was going to be the best answer, she was not about to admit to killers that she knew they were killers.

"na the question dey ask you be that?" T asked her.

"go to hell" Leah said, unsure of what had come over her. and the minute she said the words, she remembered these people just killed someone, and this could even cause them to do same to her. with that, she mentally admitted to herself that, that was a dumb move.

King who had looked away from her, on hearing what she said looked back at her with a dry look, plain and emotionless. He returned back to his food, took a few more spoons from it, drank water, cleared his throat, then stood up.

"take her make she go clear her ear" King said and walked out of their midst. Leah keeps shouting for him to let her go and they drag her to King's torture chamber. T left D and J to do her dragging to the chambers while he went after King.

"boss. I think say we talk say we no go do babes dirty? Why the chambers? You know that place only blood fill am. E no fresh" T said after he caught up with King, and slightly thinking that maybe his decision was a bit harsh, given what they said they would and wouldn't do.

"I know. But hopefully, by the time she gets out tomorrow, she would have gotten her manners back and senses. It should be enough time for her to remember why she was on my property. àwọn ọmọ-ọwọ́ ń sunkún nígbà tí wọ́n bá ṣubú lulẹ̀. Ko si eniti o bẹbẹ wọn (babies cry when they are fall down. Nobody begs them to).

King patted him on the shoulder and left to his room. T seeing that King was sure that, that was going to work and best choice of attention, he also left to his room.

The next day, King sent his men to go and check if her story is true, if she really was just driving by. As Leah spent some hours with her thoughts in King's torture chamber's, she began to realize that, it may not have been King's men who were the same men that were chasing her. she had managed to get a glimpse of the tattoos about three of the men who were chasing her had and T, D and J did not have those tattoos as she looked at the while she was being dragged to the torture chambers. As she realized she was not with killers, she decided to beg her way out of her predicament, so began her shouts from night till when she grew tired and slept off, that she was just driving by and her car broke down.

Wanting to be sure of her information, King sent some of his men to go back to the other side of the road and see if there was truth to her cries. When his men got there, they did see that there was indeed an abandoned car there. As they were checking the car, her phone began to ring, and Esther's name popped up on the screen. One of King's men saw it and brought it to D to look at it. He told them to throw it away, just to avoid any trouble, since they had not fully verified who Leah was.

The phone kept ringing causing D to pick it back from the car, then threw it on the ground and smashed it with his leg. On the other hand, Esther and Simi assumed that maybe network was an issue in where Leah was given that in once second it was ringing and in the next it was switched off, hence why she was not picking so they decided to try again later. D rounded up all King's men and they started going back to King's place. When they got back to King, D told him everything they saw.

"boss, maybe the babe no dey lie. Since the boys don tell us wetin they see" T said after D finished giving his report.

"then why was she running?" King asked as he didn't find both instances adding up.

"them say her car no been they work na and na so she too talk sef. So e fit be say, because e dey dark and she they fear. You know how all the ajebo pikin dey behave now. And as we con find her, she con dey give us all this yeye rich man pikin attitude. The babe just dey fear" T said, driving King into a thinking state as he considered that all of this might be true and that T did have a point. King stayed silent for a bit during this thinking time and when he had come to a conclusion, he looked to D and J and said,

"go and get her out".
