Greem Bluehill

Greem Bluehill.

Coming from the Bluehill Baron Household as the 2nd heir, he had left his home seeking glory and wealth. Of course, this was just the official story. The truth of the matter is that Greem was the 2nd son, and if he wanted a shot at inheriting the Bluehill Household, he needed to stand up and overshadow his brothers. His goal was simple: reaching the Grand Knight Realm by the age of 20, and pressure his father to inherit his household.

At the time, he was only 12, and these thoughts could not have been formed yet. His parents being against this idea at the first place, since they loved their sons dearly, these thoughts could only come from himself.

But Greem Bluehill was not a regular teenager. At the age of 12, he went through a terrifying change as an otherworldly soul overtook him, with memories of a peaceful, advanced world and remnants of a book that basically descripted the Magus World, and the stories of Leylin Farlier from the Chernobyl Islands.

Having taken over, the new Greem Bluehill knew that his changes would rise suspicions and made a plan to both inherit the household and avoid alienation from his own family: Conscription. His plans were simple. Instead of becoming an acolyte at the flying Citadel, which required enormous funds, Greem decided to become a wandering acolyte, while walking the path of knighthood.

The reason behind his reasoning was quite simple.

His talent would not allow him to bloom, or even become a Magus, even if he joined a magical academy. With his talent, it was more likely for him to encounter an evil master who would experiment on him, and since he treasured his own life, becoming a wandering acolyte was more suitable to him. Having a grade 1 talent was a terrifying blow to his ego, but as if it was to compensate him, he seemed to be quite talented knight-wise.

Breaking through the knight realm and igniting his life force at the age of 14 was not something that was common, even for nobles. Grand Knights were recognized everywhere, and although they were not enough to take care of magi, they were stronger than most peak rank acolytes. There were even stories of Grand Knights besting magi by using tactics.

'Inheriting the Bluehill Household will allow me to create an environment where I will be able to seek out magical ingredients, complete experiments and further increase my influence...', Greem thought with interest

Getting his hands on the [Iron Skin] spell, an affinity stone to know that he possessed Earth Elemental Affinity and his talent grade, was difficult. Fortunately, his uncle Richard, who was his father's most trusted advisor and the Medicine Hall manager, turned out to be a wandering acolyte himself, which did not take a lot to understand after reading some of the book WMW.

In exchange for his silence, Richard had traded an affinity stone and a basic set of elementary meditation technique. Of course, Greem could not have reached his current magical progress in a mere three years with just these. Fortunately, his [biochip] allowed him to store data quite efficiently and analyse it. Scanning his uncle's library, he had accumulated more than enough knowledge.

Acolytes and knights were divided in different ranks: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. His uncle Richard was an intermediate acolyte, most of his achievements being attributed to his grade 2 talent and perseverance.

If Greem relied on talent only, and basic meditation technique, then it would have taken him 30 years to reach the intermediate realm. Fortunately, he had not just trained his body and knight techniques in the Desert Imperial Fortress, and instead accumulated magical ingredients he recognized in oasis and bandit camps, some of which could be refined as used as catalysts for his magical development. In just three years, he had reached the 6-points-threshold of spiritual force, only 1.8 points away from the limits achievable by beginner rank acolytes. It was a growth on par with the most talented acolytes already, and he was able to both progress in his magical path and his knight path.

[Intense session of sparring and physical training has been recorded]

[Expected benefits: +0.0003 Strength, +0.0003 Agility, +0.0003 Vitality]

Although it did not seem like a lot, if he trained at this rate for a year, he would earn 0.1 point of attribute already, and that was without stimulating his body with his noble family's breathing technique.

Breathing in and out in regular rythm while drinking a regent known as toxins usually used to poison individuals, he grinned.

[Bluehill Warrior Breathing Technique Cycle Completed. Optimization of the technique is still in progress, but its effectiveness has increased by 138%]

[Expected benefits: +0.0006 Strength, +0.0006 Agility, +0.0006 Vitality]

At this rate, he would reach the intermediate knight realm in 3 years, which would be an incredible achievement. He cared little about John Warmth's hostility, and the 13th Batallion was already in awe with his discipline, strength and commanding skills. He had nothing to prove to someone who bore hatred towards him. Although his rise could be associated with his noble birth, it was not like a commoner like John Warmth could do anything about it. He was jealous because Greem had managed to reach the same military rank as him in only two years, and it was understandable.

But Greem did not really care much about it anyways. Although military glory was good for the sake of inheriting his household, accumulating strength was just as important.

'Naturally, Arthur Greenford will not want to lose an imperial knight in his batallion, especially once as competent as John Warmth, so he will ask for John to compensate me...Now, what should I ask for this?', he thought while grinning

Making a big deal out of a failed prank was just another way to reap benefits out of the poor imperial knight.

'I heard that John possesses a knight killing technique...I might as well snatch it off from him'
