And then... Forced to give a shit by being transported into a World that is about to collapse.

Because he's literally got THE Excalibur at his beck and call at the behest of his after-life Reincarnator God or whatever.
Now, initially, he'd have wanted to chuck that thing into some dirty alleyway and let someone else worry about the end of the World.
But no!
He's got a darn system that forces him to be the quote-on-quote "Savior" of this world.
Else he'll suffer torture and a fate worse than death!
...If he was forced to use the Sword for anything, perhaps cutting trees would have sufficed.
