FATE’S COMEDIC REWRITE
From the moment Li Weiwei opened her eyes, it was like waking up in a story penned by a bored, interdimensional procrastinator. If only she'd been the audience instead of a sub-villain, she might have savored the drama. A classic tale of star-crossed lovers, oozing passion and suspense. But alas, her role as the plot's punching bag didn't amuse her.
In fact, she despised it.
"I can't go out like this! I need to crumple up this script and live my best, drama-free life!"
Li Weiwei's misfortune began when she fell head over heels for the leading man, Zhang Haoran, on a parental matchmaking outing. Since she couldn't dodge the setup, she decided to cut to the chase and reject Mr. Leading Man before gossip mills could crank up.
"I get it, young Master Lu's got a packed schedule. So, let's just declare this date an epic fail, and we'll both be on our merry ways."
Seemingly swamped Zhang Haoran glanced at her, then cracked a grin, as if she'd told the world's funniest joke.
"I decline."
Li Weiwei felt her heart do a flip as she heard those unexpected words in his gravelly voice. Alarm bells chimed in her head. Something was definitely off.
This isn't how it's supposed to go. Why do I feel like a kitten facing a lion?
Before she could process this, Zhang Haoran threw a curveball.
"Let's meet more often, Miss Li Weiwei."
