Chapter 1Wu Zhen

Wu Zhen sat on a mat, focusing on absorbing the Qi of heaven and earth. He was a martial arts apprentice who had reached the first level of Qi Condensation, being barely qualified to call himself a practitioner of martial arts. He made a living wage, enough to live in a small room. His job consisted of solving problems in the village and protecting non-practitioners. Suddenly, someone knocked on the door, disturbing his meditation. "Who is it?", he screamed, a bit annoyed.

"It's me, Chu Feng. Can I come in?"

"Yeah, come in, come in."

The boy opened the door and entered the room.

"So? Why are you here? You better have a reason for disrupting my meditation."

"Bro, we discovered a cave on the outskirts of the town! We tried to go in, but it felt like there was a force stopping us. Can you investigate what's inside for us?"

Wu Zhen was a bit interested. A force? Could it be that there was some treasure inside? He had nothing to do so he might as well go. "Sure, lead the way. This better not be some kind of prank."

"You know me, bro, there's no way I could lie to you!"

Wu Zhen smiled sarcastically. If he had a dollar for each time this punk pranked him, he'd be a millionaire. He followed the boy to the cave, walking right behind him. The sun was shining brightly and the sky was tinted orange. He usually never left his house, so it was refreshing. Soon, they both reached the cave.

"This is it, bro. Now you just gotta go in."

"Alright, here I go!"

Wu Zhen dashed forward, excited to see what was in the cave until he hit a barrier.

"Ow! That hurt. So this is the barrier you're talking about." Wu Zhen said, a little irritated. It seemed he wasn't going to get inside this cave that easily. He channeled the Qi that he kept in his dantian to the rest of his body through his meridians. Some of it escaped through his pores, creating a blue mist around him that made him look mysterious.

"HAYYAH!" He dashed forward with all his force. The barrier behaved like a bubble, holding him back as he continued to push forward.

"Come on, Chu! Back me up!"

"A-Alright!" The boy rushed into the barrier as well, releasing his utmost strength.

Together, they broke through the barrier and ended up on the other side. The cave on the other side was dimly lit and as they walked through they could see vines growing on the walls. Whatever treasure was inside this cave, it had been here for a few decades already. They continued walking through the cave, but Wu Zhen had an ominous feeling like something was going to trap him.

Eventually, they made it to the end of the cave. On it, there was a rock with writing on it in faded letters.

"The Legacy of the Immortal Emperor ____ ____."

Besides it, in smaller writing, someone had written something

"Su Ming was here!"

Wu Zhen's eyes widened. Wasn't Su Ming the genius disciple that had gone missing 3 years earlier? So this is where he went?

But, if even Su Ming wasn't able to escape from this place, how could he? He was born with below-average talent and below-average resources, how would he compare to a genius?

He thought back to what he was doing back in the town, meditating and solving other people's petty problems. Was that going to be his whole life? If so, he'd rather take the chance here and change his destiny. He looked past the rock and saw a small hole in the ground. Was that the entrance. He walked towards it and jumped in, "Well, I'm going down!" Soon after, so did Chu Feng.

They started falling and were slowly speeding up. They tried to look down, but they could see nothing but an abyss. Wu Zhen started to doubt his decision. Was this just a prank laid down by some asshole where he would fall and kill himself? If so, that would surely be an idiotic way to die. Looking back to it, he was too optimistic. Why would there be an Immortal Emperor's legacy in this village in the middle of nowhere?

He closed his eyes and waited for death, but then he stopped falling. He was standing on the ground, with his two legs still intact.

[Welcome to the Infinite Legacy.]

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
