11. Magic knight exam

~Day of the magic knight exam

"Ok, I am ready." Today is the day I waited so long for. I am finally gonna join a magic knight squad and go on adventures! I am still thinking about what squad I should join. Black Bulls is an option I thought hard about and I decided, even if I like this squad the most, I am gonna join a higher-ranked one. It will be way faster to become the Wizard King and I probably will get even more money and respect.

'Let's not think so hard about it. I will decide when the time comes.'

One thing I thought about a lot too is the timeline. Since I wished to be three years older than Asta and Yuno the events from the anime would only start in three more years.

But with my presence alone I can say for sure that everything will change.

So I lost my advantage of future knowledge. But I am so strong that there probably won't be anything powerful enough to be afraid of. And it is more fun when I don't know everything that will happen next.

"Ikofos." As I said the name of my beloved mighty super cool and sexy weapon, it appears, floating next to me. I jump and make a backflip high in the air as my mighty spear flies in my direction at high speed and I land on it, and without stopping a second I fly in the direction the exam is held.

"Smooth~"

Arriving at the arena where the exam is held I store Ikofos back in my soul and let me fall.

Landing with a boom, creating cracks on the ground and without even bending my legs I go to the entrance without stopping and with hands in my pockets.

Ignoring all the curious and jealous glares from the boys and the blushing faces of the girls I enter.

I sign in for the exam after a couple of minutes arguing about why my Grimoire doesn't have a clover on its cover but after ensuring the dude that I am not from another kingdom I got my number and went in. Oh, by the way, my number is #169.

"Quite crowded here." As I enter I see a lot of other teens my age and these black birds flying around. I think they were called Anti-Birds.

Aether walks towards the center of the small arena as the mass of people makes way for him as Aether released a part of his mana for them to know their place. But while looking around for possible strong foes someone bumped their shoulder on his.

"Watch where you going dumbass."

Suddenly a dark murderous aura erupted while people that were watching nearly shit their pants. As you can guess, the person that bumped my shoulder is...

Yami, captain of the Black Bulls.

"Huh? What did you say, little twerp? You want to die?" Holy shit, even if I could probably put up a good fight with him, he looks scary.

"I said watch where you going d.u.m.b.a.s.s." Even if he's scary I won't let myself be pushed around.

*Boom*

Yami's magic power increased even more as he took out his katana and some of the weaker participants fainted from this tremendous killing intent. Damn, he sure has a short fuse.

"You're dead." He raised his katana and swung down.

"Yami stop!" Finral came out from behind and shouted.

But Yami didn't listen.

What Yami thought 'I won't kill him now but someone needs to teach this arrogant brat a lesson.'

As the sword was about to hit Aether suddenly gold and black aura erupted from him.

*BOOOM*

"Nooo Yami! You killed him!" Finral was shouting while looking really angry.

"Killed? Tch." Yami said as his murderous aura vanished.

As the dust settled you can see Aether standing there like nothing happened, hands still in his pockets while there was Ikofos, his spear, floating in front of him glowing and changing colors from black to gold. Before Yami could 'hit' Ikofos appeared and blocked the sword with ease and

everyone that didn't faint because of the clash of these two monsters had their mouths agape.

The violent but at the same time gracious black and gold aura around Aether that was at the same level as Yami's slowly vanished.

"The next time you annoy me I will kill you for sure." Said Yami but what he really thought was

'What the hell is this kid. His magic power is already at the same level as a low-level captain. He is a monster, I must get him.'

As everything settled down every other participant kept their distance from me and didn't dare to look at me.

Now, standing in the middle I look around for people I could fight later on. There are some, probably nobles, with high mana. But they are nothing in front of him. All the birds in the arena directly flew away because of the pure and powerful mana he is releasing. But one stayed and looked at the situation with shock. But as I was looking around I suddenly felt multiple strong mana signatures and looked up at the platform where the captains of the squads showed up one after another.

Fireworks started exploding in the sky as the captain of the Golden Dawn, William Vangeance stepped forward and said

"Welcome, young mages, to the magic knight exam of this year. Today you all are here because you think you are worthy of the title magic knight and to show us what you are capable of."

He then looked me directly in the eyes and smiled.

"Since I am not a man of many words we will start right now."

After that, he explained the first test.

We all got some brooms to make the 'fly test' I call it now. But since I don't need a broom to fly I just threw it on the ground and summoned Ikofos and jumped on it.

The eyes of all the captain were on me.

I just smirked and shot up in the sky at the speed of sound! Shockwaves blew some of the others of from their brooms and a lot of gasping could be heard.

"So fast!"

"Wow!"

"He's so cool!~"

The captains looked at me with wide eyes as I unsummon my spear and make a free fall from high up.

"What is he doing!? He's gonna die!" Some of them said but some others who saw that he pulled the same thing in front of the arena knew that he would be just fine.

As I fell I made some flips and landed on the ground with a boom as cracks formed again. As the little dust settled you could see his whole body glowing a little in gold.

Some of the participants and captains clapped and Yami even said "Good show."

So after a couple of other lame tests that were obviously no problem for Aether, the last one finally started.

"Now to the last test, you are going to fight each other with your Grimoires! Now find a partner to fight!" As Fuegoleon said that every other examinee immediately ran away from the center...where Aether is standing.

"*sigh* Now that's what I get for showing off. Let's ask around, friendly." He then went to the one with the highest mana power among the other participants. As Logan Paulo, a 15-year-old blond and green-eyed noble from the Paulo family (Just made it up) saw that Aether was coming towards him his knees started shaking. Since he's good at reading mana, and he saw what happened before, he knew he would get totally destroyed if he fights this monster. But all he could do is watch as this devil in human skin slowly walks over to him with a smile that would look handsome to anyone who saw it, but to him, it's the smile of a demon about to take his soul.
