"It's over," said an imposing man dressed entirely in black with a scythe in his hands, in a cavernous voice.

He gave off a sinister and somber atmosphere, everything about him screamed death and the end.

"Indeed, it's the end," the teenager in front of the frightening looking being said without glancing at him.

This teenager is named Hiro Tanaka, a young man who recently ended his own life.

"I can understand your relief at finally meeting me," said the disturbing figure in black.

"But know that death is a cruel thing that symbolizes the end or despair, hence it is rejected by all. Whereas life is a gentle thing that symbolizes hope, hence it is so sought after," he said in his disturbing voice.

Hiro listened to the words of the being in front of him without reacting much.

The reason for his indifference is simple.

Since birth, Hiro had never known happiness. And on the rare occasions when Hiro managed to find even a glimmer of light in the darkness that was his life, it always turned out to be just an illusion.

Thus, Hiro's current state was that of a broken man who expected nothing more from life and preferred to end it all.

"Anyway, I'm finishing most of the manga I like so there's nothing left to keep me on Earth," he thought bitterly.

"If I can't be happy in this life, I can at least try my luck in the next one, if there even is one," Hiro expressed as he peered into the darkness under the hood of the man in black.

And this was also the first time in a long while that Hiro had had a conversation with another individual.

While a normal human would be afraid of the unknown that death represented, Hiro had no fear in his eyes, only hope for a possible end.

When the being observing the complex emotions in Hiro's eyes couldn't help but chuckle. But because of his grave voice, it sounded a bit frightening.

"You're funny, I've rarely seen such an interesting human."

"And the last one I met like you is currently a minor god in another reality," he thought amidst his laughter.

"You must be happy my child, for today your misfortune ends. I stand before you not to take your pitiful life, but to correct your karma which is the cause of all this misfortune..."

"Wait a minute, you've lost me, can you explain?" Hiro instinctively interrupted.

"I'll be brief since I'm extremely busy,"

"Hiro Tanaka, you were born with an extremely negative karma for a reason that escapes me and you're not the first one this has happened to,"

"This negative karma is the cause of your many problems in your life on earth. Normally, all humans are born with neutral or positive karma but your case always eludes me," he explained.

"So all this time suffering from illness and the death of my loved ones was due to this?" Hiro asked.

Even though Hiro asked this calmly, his eyes were brimming with frustration as he thought of his loved ones and himself.

As if Death could read his thoughts, he explained further details directly.

"Don't worry about your deceased loved ones from various unfortunate accidents, they are all currently in different realities and have been compensated for the wrongdoing your unique situation caused them."

When Hiro heard this news, he could only calm down.

"If they live in other realities and are satisfied with their compensation, then I have no reason to be angry on their behalf," he thought trying to regain control of his emotions.

"And in conclusion, I will now purify the remainder of the negative karma you have left and give you a second life to make up for it, since it technically ruined your first one," declared Death.

As he said this, several magical circles appeared out of nowhere around Hiro.

"And for your compensation, it will be like with your loved ones. I will send you to another reality of your choice and since I know your love for fiction, I inform you this includes fictional worlds."

"And of course, you will have a wish to make up for the karma you should have had on earth. But it must not exceed the norms of earth or the reality you choose. And as a bonus, you can request an ability, of course nothing too outrageous. If you exaggerate, it will be granted with constraints."

When Hiro heard this, he was delighted and satisfied with his current situation.

"If I had known, I would have committed suicide sooner," he thought with a little smile on his lips, the first one in his existence.

"Tell me, will I keep my memories in this new life?" Hiro asked to confirm one last formality before stating his wish.

"Yes, indeed you will always keep your memories of earth, otherwise it wouldn't really be you I'd have granted a wish and talent to," answered Death.

"Okay, for my first wish, I want all the power of SCP-239," Hiro said hopefully.

But the moment he finished uttering this wish, silence filled the space.

"I see you are extremely greedy. Unfortunately I cannot grant you this wish for two reasons," declared Death.

"Firstly, your soul could not withstand going from a mortal soul to one of a god, it's impossible."

"Secondly, SCP-239 is a being close to true divinity even if she doesn't know it herself. So I cannot interfere with her destiny or existence, to put it simply: choose something else."

After hearing this, Hiro was shocked by the information about SCP-239 but also excited at the same time.

"So fictional deities really are real gods," he thought excitedly.

"So for my first wish, I want to be able to choose my background in the world of my choice," expressed Hiro.

After stating this, there was a silence that didn't last long but felt endless.

"Interesting request, no one has wished for something like this before. Please, explain to me the background you desire," said the being in a cold voice.

"I want to be born in the HxH manga as the incredibly talented twin brother of Killua," Hiro declared after thinking it over.

The reason Hiro had asked to define his own background in the world of his choosing was simple: he wanted to maximize his chances of survival.

And on top of that, he had technically wished for several small things with just this one wish, like being incredibly talented or being born in the Zoldyck family.

"And for your bonus? Which ability do you choose?" asked Death.

"I advise you to choose an ability not too powerful for your new world, or else it will have a certain number of limitations and rules automatically integrated," she added in a cold voice.

"It seems she realized my wish gave me too many advantages," thought Hiro.

"For my ability, I would like to be able to contact and make contracts with devils from the Chainsaw Man universe," Hiro declared after thinking about it.

Hiro had thought it through carefully and was confident he could become powerful with this ability.

"With just this ability, I can get others, it just takes being sly enough," Hiro thought with a wide mental smile.

But strangely, Death did not immediately confirm acceptance of this ability.

"Excellent choice, but I advise you to be careful with beings like devils. No matter the universe or reality, these beings are crafty," she warned.

Time skip 6 years

Somewhere on the Kukuroo mountain, one could see a child walking alone in the woods.

"It's been 6 years since I reincarnated, I think I can try my ability now," thought Hiro Zoldyck.

It had been 6 years since Hiro officially became a Zoldyck in this world.

Many things had happened since his birth with his twin brother Killua.

First, there was the hellish training he had undergone since birth, which would have left his former self dead or disabled.

Fortunately his wish had helped him since he learned everything very quickly. But he purposely acted less talented than Killua to avoid family attention and the future responsibility of being head of the family.

Secondly, outside of training, he had always made an effort to be a good son to his mother because he wanted to learn Nen if possible before Killua ran away. Unlike Killua, he had not been favored by Silva even if it was on purpose.

But he treated him well.

And finally, among all the family members, he was undoubtedly closest to Killua and Alluka. At first he had gotten close to them for selfish reasons but he had come to see them as his real siblings.

And now, in the middle of the forest, Hiro sat in a lotus position to try and activate his ability and contact a particular demon.

"The future seems too cool..." a voice repeated over and over in his head.

"I did it, I'm contacting the Future devil," Hiro thought joyfully.

Even though Hiro was happy to have succeeded, he showed no expression on his face. It was an old habit from his previous life that had greatly improved in his family of assassins.

"Who spoke???" thought the Future devil, looking around him.

"It seems we can communicate telepathically"

"So let's not waste any time, my name is Hiro

Zoldyck and I want to make a contract with you," Hiro expressed mentally.

"You want to make a contract with me? Are you sure?" asked the Future devil with some anticipation, even if it wasn't visible on his face.

"Yes I'm sure, but know that I won't show you my future or give you any years of my life expectancy," Hiro declared.

"Interesting, I see you did your research. But what would I get out of it then? Making a contract under such conditions seems boring," replied the Future devil, starting to lose interest in concluding a pact.

"I'll be frank with you, Future devil ,I'm not in your world and I'm not talking about Earth or Hell, but another dimension," Hiro explained.

"I'm offering you to observe my world through my eyes. Of course, you won't be able to see my intimate moments. So, are you interested in discovering a new reality?" he asked.

In truth, Hiro wasn't sure he would succeed in contracting with the Future devil. He just wanted to test his ability at first, but he thought: why not try? Hence the current situation.

"A new world? If you're telling the truth, that is indeed interesting. But I have one condition before accepting," replied the Future devil.

If one could have seen and understood the facial expressions of the Future devil , they would have seen a huge smile, like that of a child who had just discovered a new toy.
