Chapter 64 - Ruler's Resistance

Rahua's POV

I had no choice, or Damion gave me no choice that mother and father had to leave me behind. They returned because of the shop.

Apparently they been having a lot of work to do, they had to reject some orders to be able to visit me at Palace.

Damion is working with Ceaser to cleaned up the mess that Vital has made. Damion told me, that Vital was never going to bother me again, I don't know why he is so sure but I like his confident side.

Have maid that were sent to me, by Damion to take care of me while he is away. They are constantly serving me and help me change clothes, I think I can get used to this life. However it gets boring that I send them away.

Princess Amina is supposed to return today, I am so happy I didn't met her, I would feel awkward if I had to meet a real Princess.

*Knock knock*

Must be Mr. Cirius to heal me. As I open the door, I see the Princess Amina on the other side.

I jinxed it! She is so beautiful without even trying, is this morning glow that I have heard about, she looks stunning.

"G... Good morning, your Highness! " I say my voice trembling, I feel nervous. She has almost the same aura as Lady Vilahna, scary. She enters without a word.

I take a deep breath, to face her, I am sure is not here to greet me and drink tea.

As I turn around, she is standing before me and I feel my face hot. This bi*** just slapped me!!

What hell?? I was caught of guard. Does she want to fight? I've had a few fights in my neighborhood when I was little. Is game on bi***.

"I guess now we're even." She says bringing my hype down. What does she even mean?

"I don't understand. " My voice came out more aggressive that I intended to, and my face was still stinging.

"How can a Princess loose to a mere commoner? " She says looking up and down.

She would be surprised how often that trope was used in the books.

But ... I can't help to sight, in many ways she is right, she is better than me and I might be lacking in many aspects. However it doesn't mean that I don't have good things and deserve my happy ending.

Should I apologise? But why though. Why do I feel I feel sorry? Does she..

"Your Highness... Does it mean that your Highness.."

"Don't say it" she demanded.

"... Loves Damion? " Her eyes widened.

"I told you not to say it! Are you mocking me?" She looked flustered. I know too well what is like to feel rejected even though you never got to tell your feelings, it hurts. Before I knew it I was hugging her.

I don't know why I did it, but the way she started crying, it made me think she needed to vent.

A broken heart is a shitty thing, to understand such thing you can only go through it.

After she calmed down, she left, I don't know if I helped, but she was looking more lighter, more at ease. Sometimes crying our eyes out helps.

I am so sleepy crying makes sleepy. I guess I am going to rest a little bit.

My eyes closing and felt like I was about to be taken into a slumber. A knock on a door brought me back again. I could only protest silently like a child having a tantrum in bed.

"Please come in." I say after composing myself.

"Hello Miss Rahua!" Lady Vilahana entered the room. She looked stunning as ever, she was glowing for the goddesses. Why is everyone glowing so much?

"Good morning, Lady Vilahna." She takes a sit next to me in bed.

"I am glad that I find you in a good health. I was so worried for you. " She says smiling, somehow her smile seems too happy. I can't help but to feel like I am missing something. I don't believe all that happiness is for my well being.

Something happened while I was away.

"...feeling?" I just heard the last word I didn't pay attention to anything she was saying.

"Good..." I wing it. She had a frown on her face, I guess the answer was not correct.

"I am glad to hear." Her frown finally disappears, I guess I did answer correctly.

I am very sleepy, I don't want to be rude to her but I am finding hard to concentrate.

After a while of fighting my sleepiness, someone barged in the room catching both of us of guard.

Ceaser was standing in front of us. Did he come to see me? As I look at both of them sharing a gaze, I could see he was not here for me at all, I wouldn't be surprised if in his mind I had a interrogation sign on my face.

I watch as they both stare at eachother, blushing. I knew it! Something happened while I was away. What did I miss?

He finally walks forward towards Lady Vilahna, they both look awkward and blushing at eachother presence.

"Lady Vilahna, how have you been?" Oh what moment. I couldn't contain my excitement.

"G..good, and h-how have you been?"

"I.. I have been good." This is so embarrassing and awkward to see. But I love it.

I think they forgot that I was actually in the room with them.

Suddenly a knock on the door breaks their moment bringing them back to reality.

"Please enter!" I say.

Damion walks in, "where are your maids that I assigned to you... Ceaser? why are you here?" Damion seemed surprised to find Ceaser in my room.

His lovely expression changes to a frown. " I have come to check on... Miss Rahua."

"Ah!" The scoff escaped my lips making a everyone look at me. I cough, I dare not to look at Ceaser.

"Miss Rahua as a thing to get in to trouble, it seems, and it worries me. " I don't think I had any influence on being taken by Vital. I highly doubt that he would worry for me.

Damion was gazing Ceased fiercely, I couldn't help but to feel like laughing, but I held it in.

"Lord Ceaser doesn't have to worry, Miss Rahua has a Badass!" Ceaser blushes and looks shocked, Damion glares at me, as if I was the one teaching some bad words, to Lady Vilahna. I did teach the expression, but the way she used it it was just wrong.

"That's not how you use it" I say awkwardly, but she looks so proud to give me such compliment.

Damion's POV

"Your Highness, your father hasn't calmed down since the Princess Amina left. He has been complaining and screaming." Loyd reports back to me.

"Let him scream, he will get tired, eventually. " I say trying to finish my paperwork to join Rahua.

"The thing is .. "

"You finally decided to see me, the audacity *cough* *cough*, I am still the king, I am the only ruler. " He screams red in anger. Is health is not getting better and he is still gets this upset, with everything.

"You are indeed the ruler, that is without doubt your job, Father." I reply, he was a loss for words.

"Mm mm you.. you have brought that... That woman. She is not even of nobel blood, but you dare to bring her here and treat her like royalty!" My father's face grows red with anger, his voice shaking with rage.

I remain calm, unaffected by his outburst. "Father, Rahua is important to me. She has proven herself to be strong and resilient. Her background or social status should not determine her worth. I will make my wife and my Queen"

He scoffs, his eyes filled with disdain. "Your Queen?? You think you can just disregard our family's traditions and bring someone like her into our lives? You've lost sight of what it means to be a king."

I take a deep breath, trying to keep my composure. "Father, our family tradition was nothing what you've been doing so far. If I remember correctly our family tradition involved mages, and cultured people curious people. That was our culture our tradition. So please, rethink what kind of tradition, you mean.

I care for Rahua deeply, and that will not change. I understand your concerns, but I ask for your trust and understanding."

*Cough* "You care not if I die, you just want to take my place and disregard everything, everything I gave you and taught you. "

You have given me nothing Father and yet you demand everything. After my mother died you left at the mercy of someone who didn't care if I lived or died.

"Father I do care if you live or die, but if you intend to hurt Rahua, you will have to deal with me. "

"You are a fool Damion" *cough*

"Perhaps, I was!" I reply, standing up from my chair. "But I am no longer blind to what truly matters. Rahua and I may have come from different worlds, but we understand and love each other deeply. I refuse to let anyone hurt her."

My father looks at me with anger. "You have grown so distant from me, my son. I had hoped that you would take my footsteps ."

"I haven't grown distant, is just you used to push me away, now I have grown, now I can protect myself and the people that are dear to me."

My father lets out a deep, rattling cough. I move closer to him, concerned for his well-being. "Father, please let me help you. Let the healer take care of you."

He clenches his fists, his eyes filled with pain. "I don't need your help, Damion. I don't need anyone's help. I am the king, and I will rule until my dying breath."

This old fool, does he intend to die? My father was never an easy man to please or understand, but he was still my father. And despite our differences, I wanted to restore our relationship and make up for lost time.

I return to my work, my stubborn father only with a miracle will change his mind.
