Synopsis

So, a transmigrator, a reincarnator, and a regressor walks into a bar, this sounds like the start of a terrible joke, but this is now my reality. I was just reading the recently trending medieval fantasy book titled Glory to the Emperor when I suddenly found myself transmigrating to another world with the identity of the rich, handsome, and heir to the Ravenmoon Dukedom, Herbert Ravenmoon. In other words, I became the novel's first dogshit villain. Unfortunately, I am supposed to be the story's first-half villain that the protagonist will use as a stepping stone to rise to the top. As a result, not only will I get my fiance stolen from me, but I will also have my family ruined and I will die an early death. With my foreknowledge, I will try to reach a happy-ever-after ending. Chapter 1Chapter 1: Son of the Ravenmoon I

It was during a solemn night when numerous luxurious carriages kept on entering and exiting the castle that a certain star shone brightly amongst the skies. Among all those carriages, there was one with the symbol of a Raven with its wings spread out with the figure of a crescent moon as its background. It was from this carriage that a young man wearing a black noble's attire with a matching black feathered cape on his back, stood up with his back straight. His clothes were in contrast with his platinum blonde hair that shone brightly under the moonlight while his deep blue eyes were like gems that seemed to draw in one's soul. If viewed from whatever angle, his face would make sculptors cry out in awe at its magnificence. As he strutted on in with a mischievous grin, the booming sound of thunder seemed to strike as others began to alertly make way for him with their heads tilted to a bow. Despite his arrogant act, nobody made any qualms as they viewed him in awe with his calm and condescending demeanor.

Despite the cold embrace of the night, the premise was brightly lit with lamps and torches leading the way into a huge dining hall. The inside of the palace was warm and filled with music, the walls were well-decorated, and the floors were clean. Near the entrance was a man who appeared to be a butler, near him was a short line of people who were entering with invitations in their hands. As each of them entered, they would hand over their invitation letter and the butler would soon call out their names. Following this, the youth soon handed over his invitation letter and under the sharp eyes of the butler, his name was soon called out.

"His highness, The Knight of Umbra, Sir Herbert Ravenmoon of the Ravenmoon Duchy."

As he made his way in, the clamoring momentarily stopped as they all focused on him. As if enjoying their stares, he purposely slowed down his steps while occasionally gazing at the corners as if he was looking for something, eventually, he started to confidently make his way toward the center where a woman in her twenties could be seen socializing with the other guests. Her eyes seem to light up as she met eyes with him, she then excused herself and made her way towards him and greeted him with a noble's etiquette by slightly lifting her skirt and making a slight bow.

"My lord, you've arrived at just the right time. Princess Amelia will be appearing soon."

The youth just nodded nonchalantly and started walking towards the open balcony. On his way, he casually took a glass filled with an alcoholic beverage with his gloved hand from a servant and took a sip before frowning and returning it back to the servant. Following him on his steps, Lady Elena couldn't help but feel a little bit vexed and jealous at the lack of appreciation that the youth seemed to be giving her, nevertheless, she still tried to carry the conversation by once again opening her mouth to make small talk.

"I'm sure Princess Amelia will surely invite you to her tea party next week, especially when she sees your present. I heard that you acquired the Awakening Crystal at the auction yesterday."

"Don't worry Lady Elena, if it wasn't for your help then I surely would have missed the auction. I've heard that your merchant association has recently come into trouble with the Hawkwood barony. I will make sure to put on a word or two for you when the time comes."

Hearing this a smile couldn't help but bloom on Lady Elena's face.

"As expected of the heir from Duke Ravenmoon's family, just hearing your words and I can already feel assured that this partnership will be beneficial for both of us. This reminds me, I heard the princess mention that she appreciates the precious gift that you have sent previously. She even had the exotic flower displayed the previous time that I came over. I also remember that she seemed to fancy the recent play about the Sword Saint."

At her words, the youth looked at her and once again nodded his head, as he slowly lifted his right hand to his chin to ponder upon the words that he had just heard, Lady Elena soon continued and said a few words before they parted as she once again made her way towards the inner circle of the nobles.

"Well then, I'll excuse myself here, my lord. If there's anything else, I will make sure to let you know in the future."

Upon saying their goodbyes, Herbert faced the open air and silently spat out what little he had drunk. Naturally, as a well-educated noble of high standing, he understood proper etiquette and made sure that nobody saw what he did. Being graceful and refined, he then turned around as if nothing had even happened.

Once Lady Elena had completely left his sight, the other nobles who intended to socialize with the heir of the Ravenmoon soon made their way. Each one moved faster than the other as if it was a competition between who could get to him first whilst walking. It was a comical sight to Herbert who knew their intentions; however, he did not interfere as he too understands how to play the noble's game.

Unfortunately, before any of them could even come close to him, a loud voice soon echoed announcing the arrival of the main star of this party.

"Lionstone Kingdom's ninth princess, her highness, Princess Amelia Remely Lionstone."

All at once, the gazes gathered and congregated in one spot. She, whose skin is fair with hair as bright as the golden sun emitted a charm that captivated her audience to feel a strong sense of elation merely through the sight of her smile. Like a magnet, she attracted their attention and instantly became the life of the party.

On one corner, Herbert who was previously on the outskirts near the balcony instantly gained liveliness and started inching closer towards the center where the princess is. Naturally, the other nobles who were secretly paying attention to him also noticed this and tacitly made way for him. Eventually, the two of them soon met eyes, and a certain mood was soon created which made it hard for the other nobles to intrude so they silently took a step back.

At first glance, the sight of the two created a beautiful picture, one was considered one of the three most beautiful maidens of the kingdom also known as the golden pearl while the other was known as the young talent of the Ravenmoon Duchy. Nobody around them would dare even to deny that the two made a perfect couple, not to mention their status, even in terms of aesthetics, nobody else would be a better match.

Feeling the subtle mood, the others had read between the lines and merely watched Herbert's infatuated antics. It had already been about a minute, yet he still stood there as if he was stunned by Princess Amelia's beauty. His eyes seem to be clouded and unfocused, it was as if he was daydreaming in broad daylight.

Fortunately, Princess Amelia was socially adept and quickly took charge to break out of the current situation by taking the lead in speaking with the youth in front of her.

"Sir Herbert, it's great that you were able to make it today. I have heard about the great exploits that you have accomplished recently. The whole capital was talking about it."

Unfortunately, contrary to what everyone thought, Herbert was currently undergoing tremendous change, and as a result, he was temporarily unavailable to respond to any external stimuli.

Inside Herbert's mind, memories started pouring in. Although his gaze was currently locked on Princess Amelia, his mind flashed with different scenes, unfamiliar sights, and strange thoughts. It was almost as if within a second, twenty-two years have gone by, and he felt extremely confused and disoriented.

"Sir Herbert, you appear to be a little pale, is everything alright?"

Young Master's PoV: Woke Up As A Villain In A Game One Day

"Now you see?" she shouted in a tone that was somewhere between annoyance and disappointment. "You can’t outsmart Scrients! They’re the most intelligent beings across the two realms!" "You’re right," I muttered, averting my gaze with a solemn sigh. "I made a mistake. I was arrogant to think a mere human like me could fool them." —BOOM!! "...Wh-What was that?" "Hmm? I’m not sure. Maybe you should go and ask the most intelligent beings across the two realms. Oh wait! You can’t. I killed them all." --- My name is Samael Kaizer Theosbane. On the last day of high school, I got into a fight with a kid I used to bully. It was a stupid and pointless scuffle. And in the middle of it, I tripped and smacked my head on a rock. That’s when the memories came flooding in… Memories of a different life. Memories of another world. Suddenly, everything made a twisted kind of sense. I realized two things. First: I was inside a game I used to play in my past life. Second: I was a villain. A villain! Not the cool, mysterious, tragic kind either! No, I was the worst kind of cliché — a spoiled, insufferable, and arrogant young master. The sort you'd find in those poorly written fantasy stories. You know the type! The one everyone hates. The one the hero would beat into the ground to show everyone just how strong and righteous he is. Yeah. I was that guy! My fate was to be a stepping stone for the main characters, be manipulated by a Demon Prince, and die a dog's death. And the hero? The hero was the same kid I’d been bullying all this time. The one I just got into a fight with. He was supposed to be the savior of this damned world. A world teetering on the edge of destruction, beset by wars, calamities, and a grim future that only I knew. And waiting at the end of it all was the final antagonist. The unbeatable nightmare. …The Spirit King. But could I even make it to the end? Could I really survive in a game where defeat was the only certainty? A game that had now become my reality? “Ah, fuck it.” I had no idea if I could. But I sure as hell was going to try. Extorting extras, manipulating main characters, altering the story to my advantage, stealing the hero’s cheat items, killing villains long before they could become threats — nothing was beneath me. Would the main characters be affected by my actions? Excellent! Would the story change? Even better! All I cared about was me. My survival. My life. My choices. “I’ll live this life with no regrets.” ...But as I soon discovered, fate wasn't so easily changed. And the price of rewriting your destiny was steep. ========== Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VjFQtDUaTR

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.

Hello! Author here. Thank you to everyone that had commented, voted, and added to their collection. I hope you had a fun experience reading my third try at writing a novel. This time I hope to finish it properly without going on hiatus. I originally wanted to write a self-review when I reached chapter 50, but it seems like the novel has been getting some attention so here it is. I have also noticed that there had been a lot of questions so this will also be a FAQ corner. Q. Who actually is the protagonist, is he Herbert or Albert? A: The protagonist is originally Albert but he was forced to play as his brother Herbert. Before he had transmigrated, he was also named Albert. Q: Is this a harem? A: No, although there will be other potential love interests, I intend to have mc end up with one. This will also make sense thematically due to how low the chance will be for a child to be born when two parents are of not the same grade of bloodline. This brings the question, would it make sense to have a strong and capable descendant with a high grade of bloodline or multiple weak descendants with a low-grade bloodline? Q: Why is the mc not acting like a villain? A: Just because your mother called you handsome doesn't mean that you are one. I originally created the mc to feel more human, and this resulted in him having more flaws as a character. Q: Why is the mc's focus on politics rather than his personal strength? A: The Ravenmoon protocol for enemies is either to contain or kill. He is facing off against the protagonist, he understands that his current character template isn't enough to catch up to the plot armor standards that the protagonist has so he could only try to change to overpower the protagonist in a different way. Q: Is the mc braindead to give away treasures to others? A: If you have a million dollars and you know that someone has the potential to pay you back twice the amount, would you not invest?

As of this review I've read 37/37 chapters. Usually I don't read novels unless they had at least 100 chaps or so, but I'm glad I found this as it was a pleasant surprise. My review will be short than what I usually do because of the lack of chapters as its a new novel. This novel is easily a 5/5 stars, I'm lenient but this novel does deserve it. Highly recommend it. It's new so I can't say it's a hidden gem, but certainly has the qualities to become one and hope it gets the recognition it deserves. It's very good and I highly suggest giving this one a shot. If you enjoy "The Villain Wants to Live" then you will be in for a treat. The tone of the novel feels similar to that and there are similarities when it comes to the charm of this novel. Do not misunderstand, they just have similar things but no way are they the same. In terms of gathering strength, the novel seems more political than powering himself the usual way. (The usual way is there, but less focused). This is a big plus for those who prefer politics which often involve the battle of wits and schemes. Heads up. You should read the author's FAQ pinned because many people like myself were confused to the MC's identity. The first few chapters will be rough in trying to understand things, but it becomes clear as you read. Writing quality is great with barely any mistakes and the diction (choice of words) is immersive and appropriate in establishing its setting, echoing the noble status of the characters. I really enjoy it very much, especially the character interactions. If there's a need of improvement, well it's not flowery but that's bookstore level. This quality of linguistics is A grade for webnovel standards. The 2 major grips I have so far with the novel: 1. Lack of worldbuilding and establishing of setting. While its still early in so its understandable, I do feel we don't have a big enough overview of the world's power structures and settings. There's only bits and pieces and the basic overview isn't there. While it hasn't affected my reading experience, I think other readers would prefer if the author could give us the general overview. Even if you have to tell rather than show. 2- ~SPOILER~ I'm concerned of the Mc's action making him like a prophet who can predict future. He wasn't really questioned for the sources of his information like from his father. It's suspicious and doesn't feel logical. The novel tends to be at times feel "contrived" I do not like using the word contrived in fictional writing, so when I bring this up it's not a good thing. There are several moments in the novel where it feels too convenient that things went that way at least that's how I felt. Like the father not questioning, Princess Amelia being very obedient and not seeing her really make a move contrary to my expectations of her being much more. The oddity of the Mc's actions, not really further highlighted, I mean you could argue because he's the excellent heir so no one would doubt his actions which is a highly valid point, but I just feel things should be questioned more. Basically, these all seem to sum down to things that should be shown to make it seem logical and coherent but aren't. Even Ingrid should be mentioned with how she planned to use him and all, I know she's in fact really just a silly girl but even she I feel should have some awareness that she feels conflicted that the MC is in control. Yes they are in a contract, yes shes very indebted and her position can't let her overstep her bounds at her current circumstances, but you can still show her frustration or something. These are key stuff that feel missing in the novel. Characters- Lack of chapters means that there still needs development / showing of design for characters like the Father, Princess Amelia etc, but from what has been shown of Ingrid and the MC... It's great!!! The author clearly is very capable and can make witty conversation too. Please keep the current pace going for character development. It's slow and that's befitting for this novel. Suggestion to author- I suggest changing your cover, even if it means making it more click bait. I don't want to see another novel that I really enjoy reading have its author lose motivation because of lack of reception. Be shameless. If the content is good, people will stay. It will really be more important once you get a contract. The current one doesn't stand out at all!!! Seriously!! You probably already planned this, but an auxliery chapter would be nice too for power structures, terminology, and perhaps character profiles. It would be nice if we can get some character art too even if its not official. -------------------------------------- I always end my reviews with shipping after all I only read romances/harems. Very happy to hear that it isn't a harem (In the sense of polygamy), so I will be looking forward to shipping a heroine with the MC. After all love is war and I want to ship ship ship. That said... I kinda hate the fact that you introduced a character like Ingrid so early. Honestly, the interactions with the MC are great and they get along very well. Don't make me board a ship already! It's only 37 chapters in! We haven't even seen the protagonist of the novel yet!!! I'm utterly craving to see the future fiancé wars.
