Not knowing what his rut was, she simply thought that the more involved he got with his real life, the less time he had for her. The fear she had voiced before was coming to fruition but it was so gradual she felt she couldn't say anything without seeming paranoid.
To her, it seemed like he was weaning her off of him on purpose so that when the moment came that he stopped seeing her, it would be a lot easier for her to handle.
