Katsuyu Sage wasn't human. He expressed himself directly without tact or pretense. If something was good, he said so. If it was lacking, he pointed it out plainly.

"That's good news. I can finally rest," Shigeru muttered with relief.

His days had been consumed by relentless training and responsibilities. By night, he'd been practicing Sage Jutsu in the Shikkotsu Forest. The physical and mental strain had pushed him to the brink. Now, at last, he was free of the nightly grind.

"Let me take you back, Shigeru," Katsuyu Sage offered kindly.

Compared to the sage's timeless existence, Shigeru was still just a child in his eyes.

"Thank you, Katsuyu Sage," Shigeru replied, deactivating Sage Chakra Mode. His body sagged with fatigue. He needed rest, sleep, and time to recover from his accumulated exhaustion.

As soon as he returned to the lounge, he froze. Someone was already sitting there. Startled, Shigeru frowned before recognizing the face.

"Senior, you scared the life out of me!" he complained irritably.

Nara Luxin smirked faintly. "You, Shigeru Hyuga, afraid? Hard to believe."

"I'm not afraid—I'm cautious!" Shigeru retorted. "Do you know how dangerous it would be if I reflexively attacked you?"

Nara Luxin chuckled awkwardly, unsure how to respond to the blunt remark.

"Why are you here, Senior?" Shigeru asked. He poured himself a glass of water, removed his coat—damp with mud and mucus from his training—and discarded it in a nearby trash can.

Finally free from the clutches of Sage training, Shigeru allowed himself a moment of indulgence. He changed into fresh clothes and poured a second cup of hot water, offering it to Nara Luxin.

"Thanks."

Nara Luxin took a sip, then said, "Shigeru, there are some things we both understand but haven't explicitly acknowledged. Right now, you and I—we're in the same boat."

Shigeru nodded slightly, acknowledging the statement.

"Tsunade-sama mentioned that you promised the village victory on the Rain Country battlefield?"

"Correct."

Shigeru wasn't surprised that Tsunade had shared the information. She trusted the Ino-Shika-Cho trio and viewed them as allies.

"Then our goals align," Nara Luxin said with a satisfied smile. "I'm not here to pry into your methods, but I want to hear your thoughts on the battlefield strategy."

Talking to people like Nara Luxin was always exhausting. Shigeru sighed and set down his cup.

"Senior, if you have something to say, just get to the point. All these roundabout words are tiring."

"Fine," Nara Luxin admitted. "I want to propose an alliance, but I can't convince Hokage-sama or the elders alone. I need Tsunade's full support to advocate for it and win over the leadership."

"An alliance?" Shigeru blinked in surprise. After a moment of thought, he asked, "You're talking about an alliance with Rain Shinobi Village?"

Nara Luxin nodded. "Yes. Both Rain and Sand Shinobi provoked this war. It's impossible to make peace with Sand until the conflict ends, and Iwa isn't interested in this war—they're too focused on Kumo. That leaves Rain Shinobi as the only viable option."

Shigeru chuckled wryly. "First, you drag them into the conflict. Now, you want to ally with them. Hanzo of the Salamander must be fuming at the thought."

"That was then. Now Sand Shinobi is the common enemy," Nara Luxin countered. "If Konoha offers enough compensation and benefits, I believe Hanzo can be persuaded."

Shigeru shook his head with a bemused expression. "You're really putting me on the spot here. Why don't you go directly to Hokage-sama or Tsunade-sama?"

"Haha, because you're the most capable person for the job," Nara Luxin replied with a grin.

Shigeru sighed. "Fine, I'll see what I can do. But you owe me for this."

Luxin smiled. "Deal."
