Ivan's mouth twitched as he opened the cupboard and saw the gruesome sight.
Because it was his head in the cupboard!
It was obvious that Boggart had conjured this thing. Perhaps because the cupboard was only so big, Boggart was unable to conjure his entire body, so he simply conjured a head that looked as if it had been run over by a roller.
The head in the cupboard blinked at him apologetically, then said, "I'm sorry, but I've been hiding something from you. The real Hales is dead, and I'm just an impostor…"
"It's no good telling me that…" Ivan pursed his lips. He had guessed that Boggart would say something like that when he heard the first half of the lesson.
After all, one of his greatest fears was that his identity as a transmigrator would be exposed, and he would immediately lose everything!
"Hilarious!" Ivan sighed. He tapped the head with his wand, turning it into a Hallowe'en pumpkin lantern, and left Filch's office carrying it in his hand.
All the way to the eighth floor of the castle,
As it was almost Halloween, Ivan's pumpkin lantern was eye-catching, but nobody suspected anything.
I need a place to brew my potion!
Ivan paced up and down the opposite wall of the tapestry three times, then muttered to himself.
The door to the Room of Requirement swung open.
When Ivan entered the potion room, he immediately saw the cauldron on the round table in the middle of the room bubbling. The Bloodline Fusion Potion would be ready in a short while!
However, when he looked at the "Pumpkin Lamp" in his hand, Ivan was troubled and wondered how to start.
How about a cut or two to see if it bleeds?
Ivan picked up a knife from the table and tried to cut the skin of the jack-o'-lantern. Thick, pale yellow juice ran down the edges.
However, when Ivan was about to collect the potion from the bottle, the liquid was sucked back into the wound.
Infuriated, Ivan stabbed several holes into the lantern, causing more juice to flow out, but he was unable to collect it no matter how hard he tried.
The spell that had been placed on Boggart had been broken over time.
Boggart quickly transformed from a jack-o'-lantern into a young wizard who looked exactly like Ivan in an attempt to get the young wizard to stop torturing him.
After all, few people would be cruel to a creature that looked exactly like them.
Even if they did, they would definitely hesitate when making a move.
Ivan, however, was having none of it. Not only did he have no intention of holding back, he went even further, brandishing his knife and trying to cut something off Boggart!
Unfortunately, Ivan's attempts to turn Boggart into himself ended in failure.
Because no matter how hard one tried, even if it was cut into several pieces, the injured part of the Boggart would quickly turn into smoke and return to normal!
Ivan was frustrated. It seemed that boggarts could not be harmed by conventional objects; only laughter could affect them.
'Why don't you try laughing?'
"Haha… haha…" Ivan tried to simmer his emotions as he laughed.
As soon as Ivan spoke, Boggart, who was being toyed with by Ivan, suddenly shook violently. A moment later, it exploded with a bang, turning into wisps of green smoke that floated in the air!
Ivan's face darkened when he saw this.
Are you kidding me? Is my laughter that scary?
The last Boggart suffered the laughter of a dozen young wizards and was tormented for an entire lesson before it finally broke down. Why was this particular Boggart suffering so much?
Ivan grumbled to himself, but when he saw the smoke, he had an idea. He used his wand to guide the smoke into the reagent bottle, then tried to open the system's magical inventory.
[Magical Item: Remnants of a Boggart
[Description: This is the remains of Boggart after his death, containing some kind of magical power…]
"This should work as a substitute for blood, shouldn't it?" Ivan asked hesitantly, remembering from Slytherin's research notes that it was possible to replace blood with something crucial from magical creatures.
The Boggart residue in the reagent bottle was not crucial, but it definitely contained Boggart's power. After all, it was considered Boggart's "corpse".
Gulp…
At that moment, the cauldron in the middle of the room began to bubble and boil. Ivan turned to look at the cauldron and saw that the fused potion had dissolved into chaos, indicating that the brewing was complete.
Without hesitation, Ivan went to the cauldron and tried to infuse the potion with the green mist.
If that didn't work, he would have to give up on merging with the Boggart, find another magical creature, and brew a new version of the fused potion.
Fortunately, the situation was not that bad. The mist was quickly absorbed after coming into contact with the Fusion Potion, and the two parties continued to blend. The chaotic-colored Fusion Potion seemed to have been infected by the mist, and slowly turned light green…
[Magical Item: Improved Fusion Potion (Boggart)
Features: Unknown (depending on the fusion effect)
Description: This is a unique potion developed by Salazar Slytherin, which allows wizards and witches to gain power over magical creatures. However, if the drinker does not have the appropriate protection, there is an extremely high chance that the drinker will die due to an outbreak of magic…"
After seeing the properties of the fused potion, Ivan was relieved that he had done the right thing by replacing the blood with Boggart's remains.
As for the death prompt in the description, Ivan did not care about it. The Protection Mode that cost five Legendary Points was meant to eliminate risks!
With that in mind, Ivan put the potion from the cauldron into a bottle and prepared to drink it.
He chose Boggart as his target rather than some other, more powerful and dangerous creature, because Ivan had realised that he was different from the average wizard, and possessed the power to perhaps enhance Boggart's ability to transform!
In that case, Boggart's transformation would be more than a mere display…
