Chapter 33
BACKSTORY;
Anastasia's father, Launter, paced back and forth in his dimly lit living room, his mind racing with anxiety. He rubbed his forehead repeatedly, with his hands on his hips.
He was supposed to leave the country with Anastasia today. He had cheated his business partner, out of a substantial sum of money, and now his men were closing in on him.
He even feared something might have happened to Anastasia. The moment her driver called him to report that they hadn't seen her, he sent all his men out to search for her.
His thoughts flashed back to his argument with Anastasia that morning, and his throat tightened. She had stormed out of the house, leaving him feeling guilty and worried. He had always been a bit of an absentee father, prioritizing his business over his family, but he loved Anastasia dearly.
