A flash of gold

The young squire gave his all in helping people escaping from the orange flame, saving them from being afflicted with the madness the flame inflicted upon all that were consumed by its power.

As the squire helped various knights rescuing innocents, he came to realise what the system wanted from him, why it had chose him to become the first one was unknown, however, he would prove himself worthy of such a title, it wasn't all about strength or anything else, the title the system wanted to bestow upon him wasn't as literal as some would interpret it to mean.

Without even realising it, the squire powers grew and a switch was turned inside of his brain, truly unlocking his potential which he hadn't been making use until now as he had failed to realise what it meant to be what he had become.

Determined and extremely calm, the squire returned to the scene of the fight between the holy duo and the one he had been tasked with defeating, a long time had passed and it was noticeable, the duo was tiring, surrounded by a hostile element to their core element was difficult in of itself but on the contrary, the heretic was still completely in shape, the fire he had flooded the area with was seemingly granting him stamina beyind comprehension, the fight was decided.

In an instant, escaping the vigilance of both of the fighters of holy nature, the heretic closed the distance between himself and the saint, arriving right in his face, the saint couldn't see his face but he could feel that his opponent was holding himself back from laughing with glee, the saint still attempted to fight back despite knowing full well that he wouldn't be fast enough and that neither would be Gnart, he felt the heretic's hand piercing through his flesh with ease, melting right past his robe and chainmail, in an instant, the fingers would burst through his heart.

Virtus didn't close his eyes, he stared right into death's eyes, he was thus able to see himself surviving, he suddenly found himself further away, the heretic was still were he had previously been and the hand that had penetrated his chest had failed to give a lethal blow.

The saint was confused for a moment until he turned his head to see his savior, the young squire from before was standing here, a golden, noble and valiant aura was coming from him, similar to holiness but different, his face was still obstructed by his helmet but Virtus was able to make out the golden glow emanating from his eyes.

Without even a speck of fear, the squire stepped toward the heretic, walking through the flames of heresy unbothered, Gnart stood still has the squire and Vlasfimia stood but a few centimeters from one another, both looking straight before them, at their opponent's face.

"..."

"..."

"Catch!" suddenly yelled out Vlasfimia in the squire's face, by the sound of the word it was clear he had smiled whie doing so, finding it most humorous most likely.

A punch was thrown and this was the start of a fight between two unarmed combatants, each fighting at a wild speed, causing bursts of winds to explode each time their attacks met or landed.

The squire right arm was catched in a lock and he was tossed away into the air, a most disadvantageous position but one he could easily get out of but he didn't need to do anything and a mace came flying, somehow catching the heretic off guard and smashing into his face, shattering his mask to pieces, revealing a most grostesque appearance, as half of his face was nothing but bones, revealing too that just like the afflicted, the flame was burning in his left eye.

The flying mace surprised everyone and caused a single moment of inattention but it was all that was necessary in this kind of situations, the next moment after getting struck straight in the face by a heavy and holy infused mace, instead of reeling back as would have been expected, the heretic used the momentum given by the hit to quickly spin around and get back right on his feet and in less than a second, his hand was sticking out of the paladin's body, his hand grasping a hold of his stil beating heart before crushing it and engulfing the paladin's whole body into flames, leaving nothing of the old veteran.

Without any time to mourn the death of Gnart, the fist fight between Vlasfimia and the squire resumed, each of the two landing powerful hits on the other, cracking a few bones and leaving nasty burn marks, the armor of the squire was slowly melting away but the molded metal didn't hurt his tough skin, soon, all of his chestplate and arm pieces were gone with his helmet slowly melting away.

Orange fire and golden flashes crashed against one another, each canceling the other out on most occasions, most of the damage had been dealth through pure physical strength.

A palm strike landed straight in the center squire's torso pushing him back and pushing the air out of his lungs, leaving vulnerable to a wild flurry of attacks from the heretic, he sustained a large number of hits, the combo ending with an uppercut that knocked his helm of his head and pushing him to the ground.

As he fell to the ground, the ash that now covered the ground due to the heavy fire was raised up and for a moment, the squire felt like time had stopped as his eyes landed on the now deceased paladin's mace, it seemed to call out to him, the mace seemed to change its appearance ever so sightly, an almost invisible change and a system window appeared before his eyes, he didn't read it with much attention as his mind was somewhere else but it spoke of the weapon, of his true status and of his true name.

The squire extended his hand toward the mace, type seemed to still be frozen, he clutched the handle with his right hand and a wave of strength was felt throughout the heart of every single being.

The squire got up raising the mace above his head, the power he was emanating managed to even keep Vlasfimia at bay, with his helmet off, the squire's long orange hair were left flowing in the wind, his golden eyes shined brightly.

"Defiler of the holy" spoke the squire as he faced Vlasfimia.

"I am here to stop you from spreading the influence of the fire of heresy and blasphemy any further" he added afterwards.

"I shall accomplish this goal, I swear it upon my name, the name of the first hero, the name of Sonnenträger."
