Hell hound reincarnation

I wake up in a daze. Not used to the sun shining in my face first thing in the morning. Especially when the air is crisp and the leaves are crunching under me.

Wait leaves crunching?

I rub my eyes to clear out the morning haze, and get a better look around me.

Yep I'm laying on a pile of leaves in the middle of the forest.

"Why am I here? The last thing I remember is... what did happen?" Clenching my eyes shut I try to remember what happened.

Me and two others were going to explore a dungeon. We had a decent team. Me as the front fighter, a archer, and a healer.

We went to the 5th floor of the dungeon before the healer activated a trap.

I... I died. A blade came flying out of no where. The target was the healer, but I pushed her out of the way. It made its way through my heart, and killed me.

And now I'm here. Getting up I couldn't help but notice that my arms and hands were now black... and covered in fur. And my hands were a lot smaller to.

Choosing a random direction I walk... for a couple hours. Eventually I find a small clearing, with a water source. A good place to stay and rest. Now to find food and sleep.

I go back into the forest, but I mark trees so I know where I came from. Eventually I find a rabbit hopping nearby.

I crouch down slowly to not alert the rabbit. I wait until it gets close to me.

Eventually it gets close enough, so I jump at it. Catching it by surprise, I quickly break it's neck before it can react.

Food in hand I gather some wood and follow the markings I left on the trees back to the small clearing.

I skin the rabbit, and clean the meat with the water source nearby. While cleaning the meat I look into the reflection and see my new appearance.

I'm not surprised by the childlike features, I was expecting it because of how small I was. But what surprised me was my face was now black and furry. Thankfully I had a human face aka no snout.

The part of the eye that is supposed to be white was now black. And my eyes were now red. The next thing I noticed was my hair. It was black like my skin... or rather fur now, but that's not what surprised me. It was the two wolf like ears on top of my head. Of course they were black, but there were red tufts coming out of them. Curiously I look behind me and yep... there's a black wolf tail poking out back there. Weird how I never noticed before.

Curiously I go to touch my ears, they twitch in response to the sudden touch.

Done with inspecting how I now look I start the fire with the wood I gathered.

Cooking the rabbit meat over the fire, I think about what I should do. Should I stay in the forest, until I get my new body? Or should I try to find my way back to the heroes and explain my situation.

For a brief moment I debate the 2nd option.

While I could probably find them, I'd probably be attacked. While I might look cute, I also look like a demon or beastman. Most humans don't like either of them.

They hate demons because most of them terrorize the other races. And thy hate beast men because they think of them as animals.

So my decision is to stay in the forest and get used to my life.

With the internal debate over I notice the rabbit is done cooking and eat it. It wasn't the best considering there were no seasonings, but it wasn't the worst either.

Finishing my meal I drink some water, before finding a flat enough space to lay on.

Closing my eyes I decide that the problems I have to face is future me's problem.

Slowly I drift off to sleep.
