Y/n was facing child abuse by his stepfather, Taiyang Xiao Long. For he blames him for being a good-for-nothing human being on Remnant.
Luckily for his adoptive mother, Summer Rose, his younger stepsister, Ruby Rose, his older stepsister, Yang Xiao Long, his step uncle, Qrow Branwen, and his step aunt, Raven Branwen, sees him as one of their own.
Then one night, he had enough. He decided to leave the household, to stay away from his father. Luckily he told his other relatives ahead of time about his getaway plan, which they understand, making them feel sad and happy at the same time. But he promises them that he will come back for them, once his wounds are mentally and physically healed.
He used a device which he created to teleport himself in order to make his escape. That is when he was appeared himself to be in another planet filled with technology made for those mechanical exoskeletons called, Infinite Stratos, IS, for short.
