Ruby stared at the melting walls in shock and moved quickly to Avina's side. Avina pulled Ruby into her arms and guarded her cautiously. Even Quin, who was unfazed against most things, stepped back.
The link between Jasper's viewing pleasures and reality momentarily broke off. A sharp pain stabbed through his rectina and he covered his left eye. He collapsed on the floor and his wine glass shattered on the ground. A painful grunt escaped his mouth and he heavily breathed in small pants. His left eye quivered and the blood vessels hidden underneath revealed themselves in terrifying spirals.
Ray stepped aside with fear in his eyes. When he realized Jasper collapsed in pain, he ran to his side and held him up. "Are you okay, boss? Do you need me to bring Mydith?"
