33. Easy Death

"Arthur... are you sure about this?"

"Of course."

Arthur went up the waterfall.

When he reached the top, the stone statue was absolutely an amazing match to such a forest cave.

"Just kill him already! Stop staring!"

Arthur felt a damage to his pride if he kills the 9th King that easily. But that feeling is going to be his downfall.

Either way, he has already learnt to never underestimate a King.

Arthur slashed his sword to behead the King.

Then a sword clash was rung loudly throughout the cave. It was strong enough to deaf anyone.

The stone statue changed and became a normal goblin. But he was far from normal from his skills.

When the 9th King parried Arthur's sword, at the end of the ringing sound of 0.5 seconds, the 9th Kings sword was already at his throat.

[You Have Died.]

"Ok... like... what the fuck! That was just unfair, okay, i'm killing him fast now. No more hesitation."

Arthur already had a save from when he was still below the waterfall. So after the normal 1 hour session in the planes, Arthur was back.

"Arthu-"

"Don't worry, I can do this."

When Arthur arrived at the top, he wasted no time aiming his sword at the neck of the statue.

*Clang

But once again, the 9th King parried his sword and slashed him in the neck.

Arthur wanted to try one more time. He repeated everything and was now back at climbing the waterfall.

This time with a speed 5 times faster, he was sure the 9th King wouldn't be able to parry it anymore.

Arthur wanted to gain more speed but sadly the 5 forms of the Sword King had no ability to increase speed.

But he still wanted the firepower to possibly, if all things still didn't work out, was to just destroy his sword and to catch him off guard.

'Eternal Slumber.' What a perfect move, for a dying king...

The 9th King woke up faster than last time. He felt the energy and killing intent coming out of Arthur and became cautious.

He decided to kill this anomaly as soon as he could.

"Ok! Fine! Just the speed then! Fuck-!"

Another hour later, Arthur was back. And this time he sadly can't use his sword style as it exerts way too much obvious energy.

Arthur still had no proper control even before.

Arthur's slash was faster than a millisecond. With that, he was confident for his mission to be done so easily.

Though it will be, if he wasn't facing a King.

The 9th King is an obvious cheat. He had the ability to improve forever and infinitely. At a pace faster than anything in the world.

Through the tiniest space even available to parry or fight against such an attack coming from Arthur.

"You have got to be kidding me."

Arthur was almost successful. The 9th King moved back and has lost his right hand.

But that wasn't what Arthur was reacting to.

It was that the 9th King was already charging at himself to kill him.

Arthur still had his speed so he could fight evenly with the 9th King.

The two exchanged blows and Arthur was obviously the one at the front.

There was still lots of time for his speed to run out and the 9th King was already gaining more and more injuries.

But slowly, that changed. It wasn't his speed that was decreasing but it was the 9th King getting better.

For some unknown reason the 9th King's injuries were healing at such a fast pace. His sword was getting faster. And in a few minutes, the 9th King has already figured out the Sword King sword.

In only a couple minutes, Arthur was not the one leading the fight anymore. It was the 9th King.

The 9th King just kept on getting better and better. To then reach the end and finish the job.

"Well I have no chance to win that! The man literally got better mid fight. Am I even the main character?!".

It didn't need another stupid failed attempt to know that he had no chance at his current self.

Arthur was weak, not as weak as a mortal. But weak as in he wasn't anything special.

And when he was once stuck there was only one other thing he could do... his inventory.

Arthur had 3 boxes to open. He has always known the skill box, but he just never wanted to open it, as the amount of time he could spend in opening boxes has been removed.

Not that he had no more time, he had infinite. But it was because he has gotten way too used to life with other people, that being alone hurt for quite some time.

Anyone would feel like this, but thankfully Arthur's own hatred for his own feelings was the exact motivation needed to open boxes for a very, and very long time. Cause this time.

"I'll be getting a legendary reward..."

As Arthur went back to the first place he opened gacha boxes and started opening boxes there... or...

Arthur wanted a comfortable place and what better place than the home he always returns to, the plains.

Arthur saved his game a second time at the very start of his journey.

And with that, he tested to open a box then went back, and it worked.

Now Arthur took a deep breath and continued his long and arduous journey.

800 hundred years later... I am not kidding, Arthur has gone insane...

It was a very long time. Way too long for a human like him. Or even too long for any task ever.

But thankfully Arthur had a way to keep his sanity. And that was to just always get back and have a fun time at Mount(ain) Her. At a time before he even explored deep in the cave.

Which at the process of doing those multiple times, gave him the idea that he could always just re-loot the items whenever he gets back.

It was basically a respawning mob at every game in the world.

Which made him extremely wealthy and gave him a lot of activities to keep his sanity.

At times he would even try to fight the 9th King once again just to exercise his body and mind.

But at last, Arthur finally got a single legendary box. And through the power of-

Arthur opened up his menu and appeared in the new shop system with an exclamation point on it.

He slowly moved his finger with a huge smile on his face. With his eyes closed his finger just got closer and closer.

And when he finally felt a touch on his finger he opened his eyes...

...well, it was kind of a disappointment. But I guess it was more of an anger...

The system was what Arthur hated the most. It was naturally going to be hated by anyone. He was already in another world and he has to get more gacha?

But that was not all that seems to have been pissed him off.

And once again it was never really the simple reason for a stupid currency. Actually, with an infinite looting technique, getting money was going to be easy.

But when you look at the prices, it clearly shows a problem, not much of a problem really, but to Arthur...

"This is why I never played rpg's I never liked fucking grinding! At least opening boxes was just clicking, but ahhhhhhh! I am finally going to go insane."

Arthur was once again almost at his limits, but this time it wasn't actually that serious. Because this time, doing those things seems simpler than what he just went through.

But seeing something that needs him to once again go through the same thing as soon as he finished, he almost wanted to just not have the [Shop].

Well, Arthur, just from a slight dim dark light he couldn't see, he still tried, just for the sake of it. "Yeah didn't work."

Arthur layed on the grass and just like before... he rested and... just to get a calm heart... from a long time living with a memory filled with the same thing over and over again... he missed it... his past...
