Chapter 1Gacha?? A blanket?

Ttak.

A sigh escaped my lips as I sat down on the bed, I'm currently in an inn I could barely afford that's usually used by adventurers.

The room is big enough for a single man but it's somewhat dirty and very medieval looking, I probably think it's dirty because I'm not from this world and even though I've been here for a week or two already I'm still not used to the difference in hygiene.

I could barely believe how much dust was floating around in here. A light cough slipped out as I looked into the air, A square I'd ignored outside as to not seem crazy. The bed frame, which was made of a dark wood, creaked under me as I sat up. It wasn't uncomfortable so I just leaned back against the wall and stared at the square in front of me.

"Gacha system... Never thought I'd have one of those systems."

I joked to myself as the square changed as if reacting to my words and then I heard a voice in my head instead of the text I thought would change.

[Greetings Host, I'm System 085 and will be your guide from here on]

'How classic' I chuckled quietly.

System 085 sounded as though it had taken a deep breath before speaking, [You're an unusually.. sick host It seems.]

There was emotion in it's voice this time, Well this body is terminally ill.

"Sadly I am, Would that be a problem?" I tilted my way looking at the square that seemed to shake slightly.

I wouldn't want this body to suddenly cause my only way of a different life to leave.

[None at all, Due to the degree of your sickness the rewards from future tasks will be slightly changed and lean towards prolonging your life instead]

"That's possible?"

[Yes Host, Your current lifespan is 120 days.]

'120 days? That's.. very short, I'll have to work harder then..' I groaned, My hands wiping my face in disbelief.

"..Is there any tasks I can do yet?" Maybe I'm feeling slightly stressed due to now knowing my lifespan but I'm also genuinely curious.

[Host before taking on a task you have a free 10pull as a newbie package.]

'Free 10 pull?' That's really generous.

[Due to your current health conditions you live with a handicap and thus the system decided to compensate]

"Turns out my health could be a good thing huh."

The square seemed to shake again, although in a different way. Was it reacting to my joke?

"Alright let's use them then."

[Yes Host, Starting the 10 consecutive gacha.]

The square started to change from translucent blue to a light green, 10 different looking card appeared on the screen and I guessed to reveal the rewards I'd need to press them.

I moved my slightly shaking hand and pressed the card that looked most expensive and fancy.

DIINNGG

[Congratulations to the Host for acquiring 5 Star ⭐ Character Card "Fortress Paladin Julas"]

"Huh? A what now-"

Light flashed and a tall man appeared Infront of the bed I was sitting on, He wore shiny knight armour with a crest on both shoulders and a white cape with golden embroidery around the edges.

His brown hair was pulled back and his grey eyes were sharp as he stared intently at me.

The Paladin smiled warmly as he put away his sword that seemed unusually big?? That's scary.

"uh.. Hello?"

At my words he went down on one knee and looked me in my eyes.

"I'm Paladin Julas, At your service M'Lord" His voice was deep but it had a certain soothing tone to it.

'M'lord? How do I address him? informal? Does he want us to address each other formally? What do I do-'

The square started to glow as if reminding me of it's presence, I blinked in confusion.

The Paladin rose from his kneeling position and walked over to the side of my bed without a word and took his place as if guarding someone important.

I continued clicking at the less fancy cards and the rewards I got were a few small bags of gems, A blanket with a heating function?? and a clothing set.

One card was left and it looked fancier then the rest but not as fancy as the 5 ⭐ card, I hesitated for a few seconds before clicking on it.

The light lit up again and as a old man appearing around 40 appeared I heard the system notification.

[3 ⭐ Character Card "Mage/Butler Alexander"]

He wore a classic butler outfit and he had a neat appearance, Black hair with some grey parts and dark green eyes. He had a benign smile on his face as he got closer and bowed with one hand over his right chest.

"Alexander?..." I mumbled.

"Yes My Lord?" Alexander replied as if it was a given, Somehow I felt confused about how they both showed a attitude of serving to me as if it's a given.

Alexander looked at me and then looked around the room and frowned.

"With such a sickly body and you're living in this.. Dirty, Yes a very dirty place?"

"Ah.. I didn't have enough for a better place- Wait hold on before that!"

I raised my voice slightly and started coughing violently, Alexander was quick to catch me when I bent my back forward.

Julas seemed unsure of what to do as Alexander held me as i continued coughing, I felt something coming up my throat so I brought my hand closer only for It to get wet with dark almost black blood.

Alexander took out a handkerchief and cleaned my hand and made me sit back down on the bed.

"Sorry.." I mumbled with a slightly raspy voice from all the violent coughs.

"Don't be sorry, My Lord" He replied with the benign smile but somehow it sent shivers down my back.

"Now you see?" she shouted in a mix of annoyance and disappointment. "You can't outsmart Scrients! They're the most intelligent beings across the two realms." "You're right," I muttered, averting my gaze with a heavy sigh. "I made a mistake. I was too arrogant to think that a mere human like me could fool them." —BOOM!! "Heik! Wh-What was that?" "Hmm? I'm not sure. Maybe you should go and ask the most intelligent beings across the two realms. Oh wait, you can't. I killed them all.” ______ My name is Samael Kaizer Theosbane. On the last day of high school, I got into a fight with a kid I used to bully. It was a stupid, pointless scuffle, and in the middle of it, I tripped and hit my head on a rock. That’s when the memories came flooding in - the memories of another life, of a different world. Suddenly, everything made a twisted kind of sense. I realized two things. First, I was in a game I used to play in my past life. Second, I was a villain. A villain! Not the cool and mysterious kind, either. No, my destiny was to be manipulated and die a dog's death! I was the worst type of cliché: an ungrateful, privileged, insufferable young master. The sort you'd find in those poorly written fantasy stories. The kind everyone hates — a snobby brat from a powerful noble family who thinks he owns the world just because he was born with a silver spoon lodged in his mouth. You know the type. The one the hero beats to a pulp to prove his worth. Yeah, I was that guy. And the hero? The hero was the kid I’d been bullying all this time. The same one I got into a fight with. He was the supposed savior of this damned world. A world teetering on the edge of destruction, beset by wars, calamities, and a grim future that only I knew. And at the end of it all, the final antagonist of the game, the undefeatable boss… the Spirit King, was waiting. But could I even make it to the end? Could I conquer a game where defeat was the only certainty? A game that was now my reality! “Ah, fuck it.” I had no idea if I could, but I sure as hell was going to try. Extorting extras, manipulating main characters, twisting the story to my advantage, stealing the hero’s cheat items, killing villains before they could become threats - nothing was beneath me. Would the main characters be affected? Who cares! Would the story change? Even better! All I cared about was me—my survival, my life, my choices. “I will live this life with no regrets.” …But as I soon discovered, fate was not easily changed. And the price of altering one's destiny was steep. ========== Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VjFQtDUaTR

The Author's POV

The person whom the world revolves around. The person who defeats all of his opponents, and ultimately gets the beautiful girl. The sole existence all villains fear. That is the protagonist. What about me? As a failed author who had only one success throughout his whole career, I had reincarnated into my late novel. "This is it" I thought, as I tightly clenched my fist. Did I just get reincarnated in my own novel? Is this where I reincarnate in a novel and become the protagonist? No. Sadly it's not that kind of novel, as I reincarnated as a mob. The world doesn't revolve around me. The girls don't come flocking towards me. The cheat items don't come to me. "Phew" I let out a sigh of relief. "Thank god I'm not the protagonist" I joyfully shouted as tears streamed down my cheeks. Wait, are you curious as to why I don't want to be the protagonist? I did forget to mention the most important thing when I was describing a protagonist. That is... They are calamity magnets. I just died. If I learned something from that, it's that it really isn't a pleasant experience. If possible let me live a long stable life. Thank you, whoever reincarnated me. I would later come to regret these words... ======== Reader Disclaimer : Please read the *Read before reading novel* in synopsis. ======== Credit to _oinkchan for helping me find the previous novel cover Credit to Rengoku for his amazing edit of the new cover. ======== Discord : https://discord.gg/FNAKgfyky4 Patreon : https://www.patreon.com/TheAuthorPOV
