My life was great Mostly. Then my dad lost his job, and everything went to hell. He started drinking, getting mad at us, which lead to hitting us occasionally, and apologizing later, yeah, you get the picture. We pretended like everything was fine on the outside. My dad got a new job, a better one even, we still went to church, we were still the picturesque family we always were. Then he came into my life, another broken person with haunted eyes. Suddenly, there was a little bit a light in a light of darkness. I was finally able to let go. Now I feel like we’re constantly fighting to keep our head above water. Fighting not to let everything else snuff the light out.
