Jim nudged Brian’s foot. “I’m worried about what my life’s about, but you’re going through stuff, too.”
Brian bit his lower lip in obvious stress. “I think your mom really sees what George is made of, but she’s frightened.”
“I must get my low self-esteem from her.” Jim ducked his head and Brian pulled his hair to lift it.
“But that wasn’t what you were thinking about.”
“Sorta, not really.”
“Bro, will you tell me? Are you pregnant or did you have a woody being around me?”
Jim swallowed at Brian’s teasing. He was about to grab Brian and strip him when the phone interrupted them.
Brian answered the kitchen wall phone. “Dad! Hey, how you doing? Oh, yeah? Great.” He listened. “Yeah, I understand. Everything’s good here. Yeah, of course he’s here. Yeah, I’ll tell him.”
