Fate/ Supposed Calamity

I died

It was a peaceful death. I died after my heart stopped beating in the middle of watching a show together with my family. The last thing I heard was my daughter calling me.

I hope I didn't scare my grandson. It's sad I won't be able to see him grow up but I'm satisfied nonetheless. 

People used to call me the quiet guy when I was small so I suppose dying without letting a sound out fits me.

Hahaha i wonder if i will see my old friends once again. It has been quite a long time, I do miss listening to them talking about various things. 

"Hey [Redated] c'mon it's your turn now" 

A voice? I guess this is the part where judgment happens. But it seems weird and why does he call me by [Redacted] when my name is… what is my name?

"Don't worry you won't be able to remember your name since it won't matter here. You are currently in your pure form."

Ah right I did read something like that. But weren't we also supposed to be at maximum 33 years old? I'm still in my old aged body. 

"That is right but you are currently going to experience something else. You were not originally meant to die."

I was not meant to die? Ah i suppose the way i went was pretty sudden since i also did not have any heart problem but i don't have any problems with it. Can't i just die?

"Ah yes normally it wouldn't matter since there are many possibilities a man can die, there is no definitive destiny or something like that. You can't really understand it so I'm not going to talk about it more but in short we need to make up your time."

Make up my time? But how long will that even be

"Exactly 28 years and 7 months 5 hours from the moment the clock starts."

That is quite a long time. So am i going back?

"No you cannot. This is the troublesome part. If you wanna know this happened a few times but we were able to send them back right away but your heart completely stopped and your world doesn't have any way to replace it. It's sad to say the only way we can finish your time is by sending you somewhere else."

That is… bad. Ahh I remember reading something similar to this. Will I go with some power or be reborn again.

"Both choices are plausible but I don't recommend getting reborn. You have almost 29 years to live so getting reborn and growing up will cut almost half of it."

That is true…

"If you want to hear it, my advice to you would be to see things you missed when you were alive. Afterall you always wanted to see what your father found amusing about exploring the world. You died staying in a single country your whole life. Meeting different people is also a thing you like so it would be a win-win"

I appreciate the advice but like you said i will be still old. While my body is still better than other, i also won't be able-

"Sorry I will be cutting you off but your worries are meaningless. If you missed it I didn't say you're not getting some powers. After looking at your life I see that you like to try your luck on this so how about getting random powers and random places to go? You will also be given money but be aware it will not be much"

…now I'm ashamed. I know it is not a good thing to gamble but i really did like the feeling of "what am i going to get". I never did put my money on it anyways. Isn't this supposed to be against the teaching though?

"Gambling is against the teaching but I can let it slide this once since we made a mistake. So will you do it this way or do you wanna choose your powers?"

I.. I will try my luck on it. I know it's stupid but why not? The worst is that I will not get an important ability but I never liked to fight anyways. 

"It has been chosen than." Suddenly two wheels appeared in front of us. I suppose there were things writing on them but it seemed all black to me. 

"You can spin it anytime you want."

I slowly approached the first wheel on the left. I guess this is the power one."How does this power wheel work?" 

"The powers you can get range from anything to anything. Literally. Power is not just things like shooting lasers from your eyes. An ant's strength is also its power so you can just get it but you can also get someone and get it's brain power, muscle power or just general power. For example you got someone that has the ability to airbend but only his muscle power. You won't be able to airbend because of that. You could also get his whole power set too."

"As per which world you are going to, it could be anything with just one you can't which being where you came from."

That does make sense but it also makes it more stupid to gamble it away. That make it more fun!

I grabbed the side of the wheel I was in front of and spinned it the best I could do. It looked like nothing was spinning at the center since everything was black but you could see that it started to slow down by looking at the sides. 

There was no tick sound effect since if there was a pointer like that it would not work because of the many possibilities. It stopped after around 10 seconds. I still couldn't read what it stayed on but suddenly the wheel got cleared up with only one thing remaining. 

"Hoh, quite a good one. Since you also don't like to fight this is probably the one of the better things you could have gotten. Since it is its power you are getting rather than the power to use him as a stand it wouldn't have gone better for you. Luck indeed smiled at you."

So this was good? But what exactly is "Wonder of U's powers"?

"You don't remember... Well then I will leave it up to you to remember for now but you will learn about its powers when you arrive anyways."

It works in the end I guess. Well then it's time for the world wheel. 

I went next to the other wheel and did the same actions i did with the first. It once again started to slow down. 

Man, I really did get things I don't know about or remember. Just what was "Type-Moon" again?

This time I did not hear it say anything about the outcome. I guess it's not a place compared to my old one.

"I may need to change a few things…" so bad? good? man i'm diving in blind here. That will make it more fun to explore though.

"Well then it's time for you to go now. I will prevent you from speaking of what happened here, no one will be able to see what happened and vice versa for your old life."

So it's time huh. ehhh see you later? 

"...good bye"

With that being the last i heard my vision got blacked once again.

"I guess making him a personification of calamity is fine rather than just calamity manipulation. I don't want him to die as soon as he goes back, he still needs to live for 28 years 7 months 5 hours. Yeah this seems like a better option. I will make Calamity a force that is in even higher plane than Throne of Plane and such that it can only be affected by Akasha. I should make it so it won't affect that girl too but also make it so the girl can't affect him"

"Yeah that seems better. He still won't be able to use it offensively but more defensively like how Wonder of U uses. I will need to make it so it will not get rid of just "warn" beings like Alaya, Counterforce, Gaia and such." 

"What else… yeah, the place he is going is one that is gonna die out sooner than him. Since he is the personification of Calamity he will be a single existence and I need to make his way of travel also be able to go to different worlds and such."

"This way it will prevent anyone from harming him. Lets just hope that the next time he comes back, he should have no regrets. Such a liar, even lying to himself that he didn't have anything more to do and lived a satisfying life"

"Use this chance I'm giving you to fix the regret of not being able to do what your father asked you to [Redacted]... no Maxwell."

I woke up on a wooden bench. I was wearing different clothes than the one in which I died. Hmm it seems I'm in London. I don't even have a phone with me… let's walk around here. I have never been to London before. Ah before that let me see what my powers are.

I manipulate Calamity? no… I can only do it to protect myself and prevent others from harming or coming close to me if I wish for it to. I don't want to harm others so let's make it so they have bad luck that will stop them from what they are doing the moment they try to harm me. I also seem to be able to kind of teleport. Lastly, I can summon a baston and a mask. Baston is really useful. 

I summon my baston to my hand and get up from the bench. I already have mastery over my powers like I used them before numerous times. It is an interesting feeling. 

Now, exactly which time I'm on? This palace seems old, let's ask someone. Ah that guy in a red jacket will do. I approached him and saw that he was smoking. Hmm that's no good, but not enough smoke to affect my asthma… can i even get affected by it anymore? anyways 

"Hello sir, sorry to bother you but can you tell me the time and year?" the long haired guy seemed to be perplexed at that question. Can't blame him.

"Year too? well it's the 3rd of January 2004."

"Thank you young man. I'm new around here so can you also tell me which place around here is better to visit"

"My advice is to see the Palace of Westminster and around it. Museums around here are also great. You speak English very well for a tourist."

"Hahaha thanks. I did learn how to speak English and other languages to broaden my library. Before I go, I advise you to stop smoking young men. Many of my friends smoked saying "Smoking won't kill me, before i will die before it anyways" but lived to get the side effects of it." I went away after that. I hope that my word of advice reaches him but it never usually does. 

There does seem to be a lot of taxis around here, let's take one and go to the place he said. "Hey taxi!" One of the taxis stopped in front of me so I got into it. "So where to old man".

"To Palace of Westminster" the guy didn't started to drive but instead turned towards me

"Old man, we are already around the Palace of Westminster. Are you old enough to forget where you are?" rude. It seems that the young man forgot to tell me we were already there. 

"Ah really? sorry to bother you then. Here take this for inconvenience" i brought out 5 euro and tried to give it to him but he blocked my hand

"No need. I do have my rules, I can't just take your money." rude but a nice guy. 

"Thank you young man. Have a good day " I stepped outside the taxi after that. 

The man went away seeing I got up with no problems. Hah let's go back then. Maybe for now I should just find a place to stay.

While walking around I saw the young man on red jacked once again. This time he seemed to be with a blonde girl. His sister I guess. Let's give him the warning to not confuse old guys like me. I started to approach both of them and when I was close enough I called out to him.

"Hey young man. What you did was quite rude. You could have at least told this old man that we were already in the Palace of Westminster. Because of that I wasted a taxi driver's time. Just because I'm old you shouldn't play little games like this. Next time keep it between us at least, wasting other people's time is not nice." Now that this is done let's try to find a place to stay. Hmm I wonder where I should go next. Why not start with Asia first and go around there. My father also liked Japan so it could be a great place to start. Yeah before this month ends let's go there. 

I turned around and walked before giving the young man a chance to speak and went away in order to find a place to stay for a couple of days. 

While Maxwell went away to look for a place to stay one of the two people asked a question to other one

"Who was that old man, brother?" the blonde girl asked the long haired man

"Just some crazy old man.. another magus perhaps." Waver Velvet responded back to her "sister"

"Let's go on our way. I thought he was another magus since he passed through my bounded field but it seems not since he didn't understand I was referring to Clocktower." Waver and his "sister" started to walk away. He still could not understand how that old man came next to him without alerting him and this happened twice. Nonetheless that old man didn't seem to realize this so he went on his way.
