Chapter 4: What if you fall in love ?

Calcel was holding his phone in his hands from which he was reading something so he didn't put his focus on her. He just entered the elevator and stood besides her before he pressed the number of the floor he was going to .

' Doesn't he know me ? ' Alyssa was so surprised by his behavior. She knew she had become famous so this guy must really know her but it was impossible. Calcel had been out of the city for sometime so there is no way he would know her.

Alyssa was still in daze when her phone rung and she quickly picked it up. That's when Calcel remembered that he was actually in the elevator with someone and decided to glance at her. But he quickly put back the focus on his phone.

" Herman , Did you find my mother ? " Alyssa asked immediately as soon as she she received the call.

" Yes , She returned home when you had just left. " Herman said.

Alyssa gave a sigh of relief after hearing this. " I will be there right now. Let me hope to find her. " She added with a smile .

" Okay . " Herman said ending the call.

Alyssa smiled after this and as soon the elevator opened she immediately put back on her cap and gaggles to leave.

' What a noisy ringtone ! ' Calcel commented innery before also leaving the elevator.

As soon as Alyssa reached , she stormed into the apartment to find Gladys sitted on the sofa with two bottles of wine on a table with one bottle empty.

" Mom , What are you doing ? " Alyssa asked more angry as she picked the half bottle from the table.

Gladys looked at Alyssa sadly without a word.

" Are you insane ? Tell me . When did you start gambling again ? " Alyssa asked anger burning her.

" Alyssa , Please try to understand me.." Gladys begged.

" Understand what Mom after everything u have done ? " Alyssa shuttered.

Gladys got up from the sofa and glared at Alyssa who was looking at her with burning eyes.

" Do you think that I also wanted to this happen ? " Gladys asked.

" Of course you wanted it. Where did you put the money that I have been giving you ? " Alyssa asked.

" My daughter . I know it will be hard for u to believe but I really didn't gamble this time. " Gladys pleaded

" Then what happened ? " Alyssa asked.

" I gave the money to Travis . " Gladys cried out.

" Travis , Why him ? " Alyssa asked because Travis was her uncle being Gladys young brother.

" Four months ago , He called me and said that he was suffering from intestine cancer that needed treatment right away. The bill was just thirty millions so I tried so hard to get the money and borrowed from my friends and a few relatives. When I finally got the money and wanted to visit him myself but unfortunately the doctors asked me to wait till the operation was over. I stayed at the hospital that night till the next morning when I looked for Travis but he was no where to be seen..At the end I realized that Travis has coned me and ran away with the money. I hated myself so much after the day and that's why you started see me drinking alot those days.. The next days , I tried my best to pay off the debts from the money you were giving me and the profits from the beauty shop hoping that I will look for the another way to pay the cosmetics company debts but I forgot that I had signed a contract that had it's final date for payment. " After narrating everything to Alyssa , She realised that her mother was so innocent in this bit the problem was that she had signed a contract without looking forward to what would happen next.

" Mom , Why didn't you tell me this ? " Alyssa cried out.

" Because I didn't want to bring you into my mess and I didn't want to do anything to spoil your career . " Gladys said solemnly.

Alyssa walked close and hugged her mother.

" Is that why you couldn't attend the party yesterday ? " Alyssa asked.

" Yes daughter. " Gladys cried.

After the hug , Alyssa cupped Gladys cheeks and said.." Mom , Am not going to allow us lose anything nor am l going to lose my career like this. I will look for possible ways to pay back. " Alyssa promised.

" Don't worry about it dear. Am going to get a loan from the bank . " Gladys said.

" Mom , That won't work Mom. Remember our property is in the Wong's hands now so the bank can't give us anything before we assure that we have anything for collateral I will do something. " Alyssa promised.

" What will you do dear ? " Gladys was worried.

" Mom , Just promise me that you won't drink again and please don't worry about anything. " Alyssa requested.

" Okay daughter. I will . " Gladys promised.

That evening , Calcel and David returned home together. They were having their dinner when Calcel asked a question that surprised David.

" So Dad , Have you found the woman ? " Calcel asked not looking at David.

" Which woman ? " David asked to confirm what Calcel was meaning.

" The one you will marry ? " Calcel asked.

" Do you mean that you are finally going to allow me get married ? " David couldn't believe this.

" How can I stop you if it's really what you want ? " Calcel asked

" Your Mom wouldn't... " David was still talking when Calcel cut him off.

" Hope your marrying for the sake of your dream to become a mayor not because of love. " Calcel spoke coldly.

" Of course that's it son. You know I still love your mother . " David said and added.

" What if you finally fall in love with the woman you will marry ? " Calcel asked sadly.

" Son , I promise I will not do that.." David defended himself.

" What if you do it , What will happen to my mother and sister ? " Calcel asked.

" Calc , You have to trust me. Am not going to fall in love with anyone .Am doing this to qualify for the Post of the mayor and that's all." David promised.
