Rescue

"Get down, you're such a burden, brat."

Morgan snorted, he glanced at Iris' back, which was getting further away from them, while Thomas jumped down. His body felt better than before, he didn't take Morgan's poisonous mouth to heart, he was too lazy to argue, degrading his dignity as a prince.

Morgan tied his horse to a tree trunk and leaned against it while Thomas sat on a rock holding a dry leaf.

"Do you like Iris that much?" Thomas said suddenly, his hands flipping through the dry leaves.

"Of course," Morgan said without turning his head, he was engrossed in looking at the leaves moving in the breeze, he closed his eyes enjoying the breeze.

Thomas separated the leaf in his hand from the bone, tore it apart, he muttered again. "Me too."

Morgan chuckled, he didn't like it even though he already knew about it, he still closed his eyes, his hands crossed.

"Aren't you worried about being close to her?" Thomas asked again, he dropped the leaf he had torn to the ground. The wind blew, making the leaves and dust fly.

Morgan opened his eyes and straightened himself, glanced at Thomas.

"Why should I be worried? Because she's a Witch?"

Thomas nodded stiffly, he looked back at Morgan curiously, his mouth already open to ask.

Morgan came over and patted Thomas on the shoulder, making the boy wince and hold his shoulder, Morgan chuckled and sat down next to him.

"Witches aren't always bad, they're older than us, but that's not bad," Morgan continued, nodding his head, smiling a little. "She's quite beautiful anyway."

Thomas felt Morgan's arm around his shoulder, he brushed it off in annoyance, but the man forced his arm anyway.

If only Morgan had known Iris' true form when Thomas first met her, maybe the man would have reconsidered, but since Morgan didn't know, Thomas didn't want to talk about it any further.

After all, a Witch who makes himself young again by sucking in human souls, isn't that too terrifying?

Thomas had never heard of a Witch with such abilities, all he knew was a White Wizard who liked to curse people.

"You alone? Are you afraid of Iris? Just go there alone, so we can have more alone time, she's my Luna just so you know!" Morgan babbled again, he squeezed Thomas' shoulder tightly with a big smile.

Thomas removed Morgan's hand from his shoulder and tried to move away, but the man was too strong, he came closer to Thomas with narrowed eyes.

"I'm helping you because Iris promised to be mine, don't think I'll be good to you, as long as Iris is with you, then I'll be there watching over you too."

Morgan pushed Thomas roughly, the boy fell to the ground and snorted, he looked at Morgan scornfully.

"You think I care?"

Morgan looked down and gripped Thomas by the collar furiously, jerking violently. His eyes bulged into a fiery gray net.

"Then don't trouble Iris too much."

Thomas snorted, he also didn't mean to make Iris difficult because of his curse, but he had no choice, they were already in the same vicious circle. Thomas couldn't just leave Iris, especially with a body like this, he was still very dependent on Iris.

As for Morgan, on the other hand, he is no longer attached to his pack, once he finds out that Iris is his soul mate, he has to make sure she is within his reach, belongs to him, no matter what.

"ZRAP!"

Morgan turned, he pulled Thomas aside. An arrow was stuck in the trunk of the tree where he had been leaning.

"Who?" As Thomas rose to his feet, he saw a blond-haired man on a horse pointing arrows at them.

Morgan growls, he takes off his shirt and is ready to change, but Thomas holds his hand. "Stop it, I know him."

Morgan's eyebrows shot up in confusion, he saw the blond man approaching without pointing the arrow again, his ocean blue eyes glowing, staring intently at Thomas. When the horse stopped in front of them, he hastily dismounted and bowed.

"Your Honour!"

Morgan glanced at Thomas, then at the blonde, Thomas cleared his throat awkwardly. "I'm not a prince anymore."

Gail chuckled, scratched the back of her head where it didn't itch, and then looked back at Morgan nervously.

"Sorry, I thought you two were fighting, so I wanted to break up."

"He's my friend, Morgan. And he's Gail, my old friend."

Morgan didn't respond, he sat back down on the rock, and put his clothes back on.

Gail again chattered about Thomas' condition, the boy only answered modestly. As soon as Morgan noticed there was an uncomfortable scratch on the boy's forehead, he ignored it and closed his eyes again.

The wind was blowing hard, Morgan felt the dust and gravel land on his face, hastily brushed it away, he glanced around, the sky suddenly became cloudy, lightning was seen dancing in the sky, drifting black clouds blocked the sunlight, the trunks sunflowers swaying in the wind, rustling.

"Looks like it's going to rain," Gail commented calmly, he sat side by side with Thomas, Morgan watched Gail from top to bottom. The man was carrying a sword at his waist, he was also wearing an armor vest, but why did he find it a little strange?

Thomas just looked at the sky above him, Gail chuckled, his hand holding the sword at his side, Morgan came closer and pressed Gail's hand.

"What do you want to do?" He asked coldly, Thomas turned and looked at Gail and Morgan.

"I didn't do anything," Gail said with a laugh, cold sweat dripping from her forehead.

Morgan let go of his hand, he seemed too paranoid. He walked away, intending to sit back down.

Suddenly, Gail drew his sword quickly and pointed it at Thomas.

"PRAK!"

With the sound of two objects clashing, Morgan turned around, his eyes widened in shock. He saw Gail draw his sword at Thomas, while the boy held him back with a needle no bigger than Morgan's palm.

Gail drew his sword again, Thomas dodged, he stabbed the needle in Gail's right leg. The man screamed, he moved away from Thomas and Morgan.

"Where did you get that thing from?" Morgan asked and looked at Thomas coldly, he knew very well what was in the boy's hand, silver. The needle in Thomas's hand was stained with Gail's blood, enlarged, and formed a dagger.

Morgan was astonished.

"Someone gave this to me," said Thomas, Gail disappearing in an instant from their sight.

Morgan wanted to ask again, but the ground around them shook, accompanied by a flash of lightning, Thomas turned to Morgan with a frown. Morgan looked in the direction Iris was leaving, nervously.

The ground in front of them suddenly split open, releasing a skeletonized corpse, crawling out and walking past the two of them. Morgan looked around. There was another corpse walking with shuffling steps in the same direction, he swallowed hard, they both looked at each other.

Without a word, they both ran in the direction Iris went. Lightning struck several times in that place, and sure enough, the first sight they saw was a woman wanting to slam her fist at Iris. Without thinking, Morgan jumped up and protected Iris, while Thomas was fending off the woman. He slashed his silver dagger into his arm.

"Fortunately, we are fast!"
