Devil's Luck[Arc 5: Worlds Apart]

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a young man, destined to be chained by fate in the early story of canon. He was a man without ambition, drive, will and talent to become something great. Well, that'll soon change. For better, or for worse. .... AN: Alright, let's do this one last time, probably. Here's another Medaka Box fanfic that I hope it'll get to a hundred chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash. Edit: I just changed it to Gilgamesh because... Zenkichi basically almost resembles him at this point(I didn't planned for this happen) Schedule and the amount of chapters I'd be popping out? Tuesday and Thursday(UTC +8), 2–3 chapters a week(it's usually just 2 chapters because I'm slow at making anime related stories).

Chapter 72: Screw Off

"System, what exactly did you do in fixing this world? Reversing the time-axis of the world or something?" Zenkichi asked aloud after leaving Brunhilde behind, who said she'll be out in the city to sightsee while he was doing his thing and just contact her through the group chat when they meet up.

[It's a bit of a mix to be exact. What you had wished for was for the "Tragedy" to never to have happened and never will happen.]

[What I had done was reversing time a bit, tweak karma and destiny to make certain perpetrators of the event run into certain encounters that would make recreating the "Tragedy" an impossibility. Also, everyone's memories during said event has also been wiped.]

Zenkichi let out a relieved sigh then stopped, a strange expression appeared on his face.

"There's... There's not a past me running around here, is there?"

[No]

"Good, good." Zenkichi nodded and entered the clocktower, calmly walking towards the entrance of the underground Flask Plan Facility.

He blinked.

Gun stared.

There was a brief moment of silence.

'...Why is he wearing sunglasses inside?' Zenkichi thought as he shook his head, amused.

Then a wide excited grin spread across Gun's handsome face.

"Well, well. Now how did you get out of that girl's captivity? Nonetheless, it was your mistake coming back here." He said as he took of his dark sunglasses, showing blackened sclera and white pupils. He then started taking off his expensive looking black suit jacket, showing off his well-toned physique underneath.

Zenkichi raised an eyebrow, not intimidated in the least. "Mistake, you say? I'd call it more of a choice. And as for getting out of that girl's captivity, let's just say... I charmed my way out."

Gun was stunned. He then chuckled, his tone amused and smug as he said. "I see, I see. So, even under all her coldness and ruthlessness, she is still a woman at heart. Well, I must say, I'm impressed, Zenkichi. It takes quite the man to handle a woman like her. I like that."

Zenkichi narrowed his eyes, he wanted to say something back but then his expression changed into disgust and bewilderment, which confused Gun.

Zenkichi still had Mizou Yukuhashi's Abnormality, Reading Minds.

And right now, what he read from Gun right now wasn't fear or some average battle maniac excitement.

No, he was aroused.

'Ah, sick! Is this guy turned on by my strength?!' Zenkichi inwardly said in a disgusted tone of voice. No wonder he always felt like something was wrong about him.

'Nope. Uh-ah. I ain't dealing with this.' He then walked towards him with a determined expression, he wanted to see his friends and mother soon.

Gun showed his teeth as he smiled like a maniac.

In his eyes, the young man walking towards him wasn't a human being, it was a monster. A monster with two long curved horns protruding from his forehead, well-built, with a long dark forked tail and ethereal blue flames radiating off his body like he was the sun itself.

Although Gun doesn't understand how Zenkichi had became ten, no, a hundred times stronger than before–what mattered more was that he could fight such a monster!

"Hahahaha! Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be–"

He didn't manage to finish his sentence when Zenkichi backhanded him with so much force that when he got sent to the wall, the wall cracked and splintered upon impact. Gun's body crumpled and sunk to the ground, barely conscious.

Zenkichi stood over Gun, his expression firm and unyielding. "I'm sorry, Gun, but I don't have time for games. I'm here for a purpose, not to entertain you."

Gun wheezed, blood dripping from his mouth as he struggled to speak. "You...you really...have become a monster... Nice, nice... Just as I had predicted... Shame I wasn't the one who molded you..."

Zenkichi scoffed, "I'm not the monster here, Gun. It's people like you who take pleasure in causing pain and destruction. You have no regard for others, no empathy for their suffering. And for that, you are the true monster."

Gun grimaced, his body wracked with pain. "You...you don't understand...the thrill...the power..."

Zenkichi shook his head, his voice steady and resolute. "Power is not about inflicting pain on others, Gun. It's about protecting those you care about, standing up for what's right, and making a positive change in the world. You've lost sight of that. Or you never had that from the start."

*Pitui!*

Gun moved his lips around and spat out a mouthful of blood towards Zenkichi's face, only for it to miss.

"Tch. Just piss off already... I'm gonna sleep for now..." Gun let out a bloodied grin as he closed his eyes, though not before he raised his left hand and lifted a middle finger.

"...Bitch." Zenkichi said as he turned away from the defeated Gun, determined to finish off all of his worries.

'Junko Enoshima, if you're here, I'm gonna kill you.'

As he walked down a stairwell he was able to see the familiar Door of Rejection, the only entrance to enter the underground facility.

Standing guard in front of it was two kids, male; one wore white clothes while the other wore black.

'Are these the twins Ryota mentioned that guards the door?' Zenkichi thought as he came close to the door.

""Welcome"" Both twins said with a smiling expression on their faces.

'Ah damn. They're doing that weird twin synchrony bullshit?' Zenkichi let out a sigh.

"Look, I've got business in there so can I pass you guys?"

Unexpectedly, they nodded their heads.

"We're just guards here after all." The one in white casually said.

"More like lookouts really. You can ignore us and act as if we don't exist." The one in black said, smirking.

""We're just your average Abnormals.""

"Alright. Cool, cool." Zenkichi shrugged and approached the huge metallic door, he stared at the keypad on it.

"Kekeke. As you can see, this door is locked by a six-digit code. If you input the right code, it'll open. Only the person who gets the right code can enter! And once someone enters, the code changes!" The one in white chuckled. "So if you're asking for the passcode, don't bother even we don't know."

"The chance of getting through is 1 in 1 million! Since only 1 person in a million can pass through, it's called the Door of Rejection. You can say that those who can't get through this door have no right to take part in the Flask Plan–!"

*Ding!*

"Huh? So it was actually my birthday date? I was just joking around before forcing my way in. But who would've thought? Lucky~" Zenkichi chuckled as the Door of Rejection opened up.

Both twins looked at him in shock.

Zenkichi didn't care about them and continued on his way down.

"...Is the group going to be renamed into the Fourteen Party?"

"...Doubt it. By the looks of it, that guy wants to destroy this facility than join us."

The one in white sighed, "Oh well, it was fun till it lasted. Should we just head on home now?"

"Yeah. I'm hungry, also I wanna play Genshin Impact. I got a quest that I've been putting off for days now."

"Same. It's just so much more fun to explore, right?"

The twins talked as they walked off, intending to head home and enjoy their free time.

However, they didn't manage to take a single step into the stairwell before large, long screws were shot towards them, impaling both of them through their chests.

Blood pooled around their lifeless bodies as the sound of metal hitting the ground echoed in the empty hallway. The once cheerful expressions on their faces had frozen in shock and disbelief.

The next moment however, they blinked their eyes to find themselves alive!

Only, they were stuck to the ground. The large screw embedding them into the ground.

What's going on? How are they alive? Those were the thoughts they shared as they lay on the ground.

"Oops! My bad, my bad. I had slightly slipped and accidentally let go of the screws I was holding. I'm the repairman that the chairman hired." Both twins raised their heads up to see a boy stepping down the stairwell, his apathetic blue eyes and unhinged cheerful smile was quite unsettling. "Kidding! I'm the new kid. Name's Kumagawa Misogi, and yes, it wasn't an accident. I did kill you voluntarily."

"Now, now. No need to show such terrified faces. As you can see, you're both fine~ I'm not just gonna wantonly kill people without reason~"

'But you did kill us, you bastard!' The twins thought, but didn't dare say it out loud to the psycho.

Also, new guy? They didn't hear anything about this!

Kumagawa smirked as he stood before the two, leaning down with that unhinged smile. "Oh? Looks like the old man didn't tell anyone about me? Well duh, I and others like myself will be replacing you guys after all."

He sighed, "Look, there's no hard feelings between us. It's just that I did something really, really bad a long time ago that no other school wants me." He placed a hand over his chest, looking saddened.

"I thought I would give up my schooling forever, disappointing my poor parents that gave everything in order to give me a better future."

There was a moment of silence.

"Pfft–Hahahahahaha!" Kumagawa burst out laughing, his unhinged smile widening. "Ah, sorry, sorry. I couldn't keep a straight face. That was a lie. I don't have parents. Or a future, for that matter."

The twins blinked, unsure of how to respond. They were trapped, impaled by screws, and being taunted by this strange new boy who seemed to revel in chaos and mischief.

Kumagawa straightened up, his expression turning serious. "But enough about me. I'm here for a purpose, a personal one for that matter."

The one in black nervously asked. "A-Are you also here to destroy this facility?"

"Yes and no. Didn't you hear me? I'm your replacement, and this whole thing? The Thirteen Party? Yeah, that's going to go." Kumagawa smiled.

"I'm here to see an old friend."

.....

AN: Not a usual long chapter. I'm feeling completely tired today due to personal reasons. So if you spot any spelling mistakes or stuff like that, I'll edit it out later on. Also, Happy Halloween!(I'm in the Philippines and in my timezone, by the time I uploaded this, it's 12:01am on October 31.)

Also, for those that had been theorizing about this current arc, yes, this will probably be slice and life. I say probably because as I had said from the start of this all, I am winging this whole thing from the beginning to the end!
