Chapter 1425 Returning to old days (24)_1

Under the dense, cloud-covered night sky, an intense flash first turned everyone's vision completely white, followed by few virtually undetectable flickers. And then a deep rumble spread from the farthest end of the sky.

Lightning jumped between skeletons, incinerating all the evil spirits on contact, scorching a blackened trail in the barren land. As the last faint flash of light touched the ground, Thunder God Thor arrived.

Hela, atop the massive ancient dragon's head, frowned at the red-eyed Monster Thor. When she spoke, the world fell silent.

"Thor, you've betrayed the glory of Asgard, now you will face — the twilight of the gods!"

Monster Thor took to the air, gripping Mjolnir tightly as a bolt of thunder surged towards Hela. But instead of meeting him head-on, she controlled the Bone Dragon to fly to the side.

She ran her fingers through her hair, speaking into the air, "Supreme Magician, it's time."

Accompanied by her low, feminine voice echoing over Helheim, a louder roar emanated from the distant horizon. The intense light made it seem as if sunrise had finally arrived in this dark land.

When Monster Thor turned his head to look, he saw a wildfire-bodied Red Giant beating his chest and roaring at the sunrise. His flames could match a thousand blazing stars, and the longsword he held signified twilight and the end of times.

"Surtur!!!" Monster Thor gritted his teeth and called his name, then glared at Hela and said, "You think bringing this defeated servant of mine will be enough to deal with me?"

"Not so fast, it's not over yet," Hela responded, her laughter following.

Then an incomparably gigantic figure appeared. His curved shadow was like a river of darkness. The burly Skeleton Warriors look like tiny ants compared to him.

As Monster Thor looked up, he saw a pair of cold, vertical pupils, sharp scales on both sides of an enormous tongue, and endless dust and mist. He took a sharp breath, then roared, "Jormungand!"

"Arooooo —"

A clear wolf-howl was heard, the ancient dragon Hela rode flapped its wings, lifting her even higher. Out from the shadows, a huge wolf exuded an aura of death and decay, slowly walking into the battlefield.

Both Monster Captain America and Monster Iron Man boggled their eyes, seemingly they had noticed: all of Thor's archenemies were here now, even more than they were.

"What the hell is going on?!" Monster Captain America gritted his teeth and asked.

"This is Helheim, Asgard's underworld. Those mutants picked quite the spot!" Thor, floating in mid-air, added, in a grave voice.

This explanation successfully diverted some of the focus. It seemed plausible that the teleportation portal had opened in a location within the Nine Major Kingdoms, hence explaining the presence of so many of Thor's enemies.

What infected their minds was more chaos than madness. The two are polar opposites, hence rarely appearing together. When this rationale appeared in their minds, the other members of the League of Murderers didn't overthink it, deeming it to be within reason.

In the meantime, Thor, hovering in the air, started to take action. He didn't foolishly charge in swinging his hammer. Instead, he flashed a wicked grin, looking at his archenemies and said, "You can't truly appreciate the greatness of immortality, but I am willing to work with you ..."

Before the sentence was finished, a giant mouth lunged at him. Jormungand looked like he wanted to swallow Thor whole, his large mouth bared sharp, poisonous teeth.

His posture and expression seemed to scream, "Less talk, let's do this, brothers!" Sure enough, Fenrir and Surtur promptly followed. Surtur scoffed disdainfully while swinging the Twilight Big Sword, "Immortality? Like your kind, scraping by? Ignorant fool!"

Soon, Thor was entangled in a fight with his three archenemies. Jormungand's massive serpent body was composed of energy, emitting a faint glow; one of his eyes could reflect the entire scene of Helheim. Surtur's glow almost set the cold ground ablaze, even causing some distortion in the energy of the portal. Fenrir's eerie wolf howl shatters eardrums, his huge mouth extremely horrifying.

Dust, flames, and frost, the clash of numerous energies made the massive figures of the three monsters even more terrifying. Trapped in between, Thor seemed small, pitiful, and helpless.

This sight left the onlookers at the outpost station puzzled — who was the monster again?

The Power of Thunder kept raining down, fine against a single monster, but it seemed powerless against the triple-monster barrage. Monster Thor knew this approach was untenable, so he started looking for allies.

"Surtur! You've been deceived! They just want to use you as cannon fodder. You shouldn't listen to that foolish woman, Hela!"

"Jormungand, you are my destined adversary in the prophecy. Our fight should not be influenced by others. Do you want to share your victory with others?!"

"Fenrir, don't forget your mission! You remember Odin, right? He's your real target! You shouldn't be fighting with me here!"

Monster Thor kept shouting and parrying between the three monsters, but all he received in return were increasingly formidable attacks.

His mouth was near exhaustion, yet the three beasts were beginning to resemble sworn brothers of a bygone era. Not only were they unaffected by his antagonisation, they seemed to fight even better together.

Ye Meng Jia De raised his shield to block the thunder, his tail forcing the monster Thor, who was wielding his hammer, to retreat; Surtur wielded the twilight sword, sliced through the defenses of the monster Thor with a backswing, a fusion of razor sharp air and flame; seizing this chance, Fenrir lunged forward and bit into monster Thor's waist, threw back his head and gave a strong jerk, sending Thor's upper body flying away.

Blood gushed and spattered on the lands below. Witnessing Thor's rapid resurrection, Surtur fixed him with a solemn gaze, speaking with a sombre tone.

"Thor, in renouncing your final honour, you bring eternal shame upon Asgard!"

"What use is honour?!" the monster Thor roars in hysteria. "You have no understanding of the greatness of this power!!!"

"Where is that power of yours?" mocks Ye Meng Jia De, snidely. "What did you trade your bold appearance and warriors' honour for? To fly farther when ripped in half?"

Even Fenrir's eyes seeped with disdain. He licked the blood off his lips, snorted derisively, then spat at the ground.

The furious monster Thor unleashed the power of thunder. An endless tempest of thunder ravaged the ground, but the skeletons remained undaunted. They may fall, but they always rose once more.

"Damn it, Thor, stop this! You'll get us all killed!!!" yelled the Monster Captain America, while Monster Iron Man had to raise his arm to shield against the onslaught of the storm.

Suddenly, the portal glowed, and more beasts poured forth. Unlike the other superheroes, they emanated a mysterious glow, holding their magical staffs, levitating in the air.

The mages are here!" cried a delighted Monster Spider Man running on a hamster wheel.

Another haughty hum resounded from the sky. A scarlet cloak ruffled, the dense magical glow illuminating half the sky, making it appear like daylight. The abundant magic energy materialised, causing the air to stagnate.

When Strange and Monster Doctor Strange came face to face, Strange couldn't help but break into a mocking smile. He glanced at the Monster Doctor Strange and said, "This... is the power you tarnished yourselves for?"

Then, he antagonised all the monster mages with a casual comment: "What a bunch of impoverished bumpkins!"

The moment Strange and the rest of the mages behind him unleashed their full power, countless images congealed of energy flooded the sky all at once.

Strange stood solo, the sparkle in his eyes intensifying. Behind him, thousands of hands bloomed like a lotus, each palm containing a ball of unique energy, so dense that the fabric of space seemed to burn away.

With a low whisper, the Sword Mage invoked his title. When the countless swords behind him unsheathed, the bright lights danced, its blade sharpened, powerful energy poured out of the scabbard. The sword came from the west, cleaving through clouds and fog.

In that instance when the stars, vines, sun, darkness, flames, and frost lit up simultaneously, it was as if witnessing an intensely raging symphony. The abundant energy was so perceptible that even the mortals, who couldn't directly perceive magic, could see the waves of power in the air.

Through the monster mages' eyes, the world had completely transformed. The dense elemental energy had colored each and every wave and particle. The monster mages, who could only beg for power from Demon God, had never seen such abundant energy even in the deepest parts of the Demon God's dimension.

Monster Doctor Strange took a deep breath, glaring at the mocking Strange who loomed above him. Anger flared within him, further disrupting his already chaotic mind. He growled, "You asked for this!"

A roiling dark aura emerged from the portal, and a horrifying colossal entity seemed to force its way through the tiny passageway. Strange cried out, "Enlarge the portal! Let him in!"

Countless dark tentacles thrashed wildly, the portal grew larger by the minute, allowing the darkness to spread further. When the eyes lurking behind the darkness finally lit up, Strange couldn't help but chuckle, and he called out its name: "Dormammu ..."

Countless dense dark powers surged into the body of Monster Doctor Strange, expanding his body rapidly. He soon turned into a several hundred foot high monster, his skin dark and his eyes filled with countless dark tentacles, forming strange patterns that covered half his face. He burst into maniacal laughter.

"No matter where you got this energy from, now, it's all mine! Hahaha!"

"Modu!" Strange responded coldly.

Wearing a dark green robe, Modu took a step forward, looking at the dozens of feet long dark tentacles behind Monster Doctor Strange and scoffed disdainfully. He murmured a magic spell then said:

"Wake up! It's feeding time!"

The moment his words fall, Helheim was entirely swallowed up by the irresistibly dark tide.
