Today was the day when the wife of the Divine Slayer died. He was inside a dungeon when all of this happened, and the day he came out of the dungeon was the same day his wife died.
So, he was clueless about all this, and it was his first time hearing it.
"Your wife has died," The reporter's voice kept ringing inside his head.
Even after he was helped by the Divine Maiden and both of them managed to push through the reporters, his mind was still focused on what the reporter had said.
It was only when he had returned to his house that he finally broke out of his stupor.
He rushed inside and ran towards the bedroom where his wife usually slept.
However, when he reached there, he saw nothing, but a white, untouched bedsheet, and an empty room.
"What?" His heart skipped a beat.
"Is this a dream?" He asked himself.
But, no matter how many times he blinked, nothing changed.
The room was still the same.
His wife was not there, and neither was her body.
"This can't be happening!" Divine Slayer screamed, and then he started to run.
He ran down the stairs and out of his house, and then he took out his phone and dialed a number.
"What, what, what, what the fuck happened?" He screamed into the phone.
"Calm down." The voice on the other end was calm and composed.
However, it only angered him more.
"Just, fucking tell me where she is!" He roared.
"She is at the morgue."
"Morgue? What morgue?!"
"The morgue at the hospital."
"Okay, I'll be there," And then, without even giving the other person a chance to reply, he hung up and threw the phone on the ground.
It smashed against the hard concrete road and shattered into hundreds of pieces.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck," He kept cursing as he ran toward the hospital with all his might.
And, as for the Divine Maiden, she just kept standing there, gazing at the quickly fading figure of her colleague.
She didn't follow him, nor did she try to stop him.
All she did was stand there.
And, then, she closed her eyes and a single tear flowed down her face.
"Why, why does the world have to be like this?" She mumbled, as she opened her eyes and slowly wiped the tears away.
"Why does everything have to end in tragedy?"
She asked herself, and then she sighed and walked away.
However, just as she did, she noticed something.
"Huh?" Her gaze fell on the spot where Divine Slayer had stood a moment ago, and on the spot where the broken pieces of his phone were lying.
Seeing it, she quickly took out the phone from the pocket of her coat and examined it.
The phone she was holding wasn't hers, but it was his.
Since both of their phones were quite identical to each other, she had accidentally grabbed the wrong one while he took hers.
"Shit, now he's going to get lost," She cursed, and then she looked around, but he was nowhere to be seen.
"Fuck," She cursed again and then she put the phone back into her pocket.
And, after that, she ran toward the direction he had gone.
"He isn't good with directions," She muttered, as she sprinted through the street.
And, she was right.
He was a person who wasn't good with directions, and that is the reason why he ended up taking a wrong turn and entering an alley.
Now, he was lost.
"Shit," He cursed, and he tried to call for help, but he realized that he had thrown his phone and now, he had no means to call someone.
"Fucking shit," He cursed again.
Then he quickly turned back and began to run back the way he came, hoping that his assistant would still be there.
But, when he turned around, a figure appeared in front of him.
It was a woman.
"Oh, you're here, great."
And, it was none other than his assistant.
"You got here quick," Divine Slayer muttered, a little shocked that she was able to catch up to him.
However, he was even more shocked at the look on her face.
She was looking at him, with tears flowing down her cheeks.
"Why are you crying?" He asked, his tone a little surprised.
But, his assistant didn't reply.
Instead, she walked up to him, and without saying anything, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug.
"I'm sorry," She sobbed, as she held him tight.
"I'm so sorry."
And, then, the Divine Maiden cried.
Divine Slayer, who was already shaken from the news, couldn't help but feel his heartache at the sight.
And, the tears he had been holding back, began to flow freely.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," His assistant kept apologizing, but he couldn't say anything.
His mouth wouldn't move, and his throat felt dry.
He just kept standing there, letting his tears fall, and listening to the sobs of the woman hugging him.
"It's okay, it's okay, it's okay," He finally managed to whisper, as he gently pushed her away and looked her in the eye.
"Please, take me to her." He begged.
"Okay." His assistant nodded and wiped her tears, "Let's go,"
Saying that, she grabbed his hand and then, suddenly, in the blink of an eye, both of them disappeared.
