CHAPTER 3: The Fight For Survival Against Manticore And The Chimera

"I have to fight two powerful monsters (especially Manticore). I have some confidence against the chimera on my own, but Manticore, the pressure emanating from that thing is horrible." Aiden said.

Manticore, Chimera and Aiden were looking at each other in a triangle.

'Please fight for territory and kill each other first.' Aiden prayed in his mind.

But it didn't work...

*Roooaaaarrr!!!!

The chimera roared and opened its mouth, and as Aiden could see, heat started to come out from its belly to its neck to its mouth, and as soon as it opened its mouth, it breathed flames.

*Fwosshhh!

Aiden moved quickly and dodged the Chimera's flame, but before he had a chance to catch his breath, the Manticore attacked him at an extremely high speed and Aiden immediately used his [Dash] skill and dodged.

"These monsters are monsters!"

*Fwwoosshh!!

Manticore and Chimera attacked Aiden without giving him a chance to breathe. Aiden couldn't stay in one place even for a second, whenever he stopped, either the chimera would breathe fire or the Manticore would attack. He had a hard time even attacking. The Chimera's three heads (Lion, Goat and Snake) gave it a very strong perception of its surroundings, and the Manticore's extreme agility and the sudden attacks of the scorpion tail made it difficult to approach.

And Suddenly

[Fatigue: 70]!

[Your movement speed is decreasing.]

*CLASH!

Boommm!!

Because of the sudden slowdown, Aiden was first hit by Manticore and thrown against the wall, then tried to escape the Chimera's flames, but his arm was burned a bit.

"Shit that's too much! Am I going to die like this? I didn't even live much after reincarnation. Ugh! Wait I still have one of that! [Status Recovery]!" Aiden remembered that he still had one [Status Recovery] and as soon as he used it, a golden light of pure mana enveloped his body and all his wounds, fatigue, MP and Hp were restored.

"Well I used the last one so now I have to finish this, luckily I have found out the attack patterns and I have an idea." Aiden said and pulled the flame lion's fang and the Blue scorpion's poisonous stingers from his inventory. The sword he was using was already torn to shreds from the blows.

"[Dash]!" Aiden used the skill again and waited for the Chimera to spit flames as he dodged the Manticore. Luckily for him, the chimera soon opened its mouth again and just as it was about to breathe fire...

"Eat this!" Aiden aimed a few of his fangs at the Chimera's mouth, charged it with some mana and threw it.

With Aiden's mana charge, the fangs started to radiate heat and crack, and as soon as they came into contact with the Chimera's flame, the fangs exploded badly, and the explosion happened right in the bottom of the Chimera's mouth, and the Chimera was hit hard and stunned because of it.

Aiden immediately dodged the Manticore and went to the Chimera and stuck one poisoned needle in the Chimera's throat and the other in its chest, where its heart should be, and ran away.

[Mutant King Chimera has been poisoned.]

[It's health will drop by 5hp every second for 20 seconds.]

[Mutant King Chimera suffering the Bleed effect.]

[It's health will drop by 15hp every second for 30 seconds.]

[Two effects with the same result were detected.]

[Mutant King Chimera will lose 25hp every second for 1 minute]

[Mutant King Chimera Died!]

Soon the messages started coming one after the other and Chimera collapsed and died.

[You've Leveled Up]!

Thanks to the sudden level-ups, all of Aiden's stats had increased and now Manticore couldn't even keep up with Aiden.

But even with increasing stats, Manticore was not easy. Its defense was strong, its scorpion tail made it hard to get close, and its attacks were still full of destructive power and its claws were extremely sharp. Aiden's fatigue was also increasing, even though he was leveled up a lot.

Looking for an opening, Aiden decided to use the columns in the room and stopped in front of one. Manticore was so angry at its escaped prey that it jumped on Aiden as soon as he stopped, but Aiden's sudden escape broke the pillar and many rocks fell on Manticore, but Manticore was barely stunned, but even that was enough for Aiden and he threw a few scorpion stingers powered by mana and threw the remaining flame lion fangs at it.

There were a few messages like in Chimera, but Manticore didn't die, it recovered quickly and attacked Aiden again, even though its health was very low.

Aiden was almost out of mana. With the mana he was putting on the things he threw on top of his constant [Dash] usage, he was almost at rock bottom.

Realizing he had no other choice, Aiden began to infuse his fists with mana and got into a head-on fight with Manticore.

"Hahahaha... I did! I won!" Manticore was lying on the floor and Aiden was the only one left standing.

[Congratulations on defeating [Hidden Boss: True King Manticore]!]

[You have achieved a great success!]

[You have won the following rewards!...]

Aiden was so tired that he couldn't even look at the rewards, and as the dungeon returned to its original state, Aiden started coming out of the dungeon.

Every now and then goblins and kobolds would appear, but Aiden quickly dealt with them. But he was getting tired and he knew that if he fainted it would take time to get up and if he was attacked by monsters while unconscious he would die.

It took a while, but Aiden came out of the dungeon and started to make his way towards the inn, but his body could barely hold him up. And it was already midnight.

[Fatigue: 99]

[Fatigue: 100]

[The fatigue is completely full.]

[Entering the sleep state.]

"Wai!-" In the middle of the alley, Aiden couldn't finish his sentence and fainted.

"Hnnghh?!" Aiden started to open his eyes. He thought he would find himself on the street, but the roof above and the morning sun shining through the window confused him.

"Where am I?" Aiden asked himself as he sat up in bed.

*Knock!

There was a knock on the door but before Aiden could answer, the door opened and a cute girl with gray hair and gray eyes poked her head through the opening and looked at Aiden.

"Oh you are awake!" Then she opened the door and walked in with a blond-haired elf behind her. They were both wearing maid uniforms, but it looked like a mix between a maid and a waiter.

"Um sorry but where am I?" Aiden asked.

"Oh, this is Hostess of Fertility. I'm Syr Flova and this is Ryuu Lion." Gray haired girl Syr introduced.

'This is Hostess Of Fertility?! I knew I recognized them from somewhere.'

"It's Aiden, Aiden Kurogane."

"Kurogane? Are you from Far east?" Syr asked.

"Kinda, it's complicated. By the way, I think it was you who saved me last night, thank you." Aiden thanked.

"It wasn't much of a rescue, we just saw you pass out on the road and brought you here." Syr said.

"Rescue is a rescue so thank you again."

Syr's face was getting redder and redder and when Aiden looked and wondered why, he saw that he had no clothes on, of course he had pants on the bottom and the quilt was already covering the bottom, but the top was completely naked.

"Oh um sorry but where is my clothes?" Aiden asked.

"There was not much left. As far as I can tell from your armor, you're new to adventuring, so you're wearing the guild's starting armor, but whatever happened in the dungeon, the armor was torn to shreds and unusable, and the outfit you were wearing was shredded as well." Ryuu explained.

"Oh I get it thanks."

"How long have you been adventuring? How many days?" Ryuu asked.

"Well yesterday was my first day."

"Wha-! How did you get that much damage? By the way, as soon as you fell asleep, your body started to heal, so you don't have any wounds. And which familia are you from, we'll bring them in." Syr was bombarded with questions.

"For the first question, I went down to the 5th floor, but the monsters came out of nowhere and before I knew it, I was surrounded by tons of them. I also have an innate ability to speed up my recovery when I sleep. And..."

"You don't have a familia?!" Syr looked worried.

"Yeah. After all I became an adventurer yesterday so which familia would take me in."

"In fact, if you have a adviser, you can ask him/her and he/she will find a suitable familia for you. Since you're just starting out, it won't be easy for you to get into familias like Loki or Freya familia, but you can join low class familias that are currently suffering, like Miach or Hestia. But stay away from Apollo familia no matter what. Even if you have to leave Orario." Syr answered.

"Hm? Why Apollo familia?"

"Well it's because..." Syr was having trouble saying it, so Ryuu came and said it in Aiden's ear.

'I only watched the first season of Danmachi, so I didn't know about it. It's good that they told me, I would have been in trouble if I had joined without knowing. But I have to find a Familia I can join soon.' Aiden thought.

"It's good you said that. Remember, you mustn't attract the attention of Apollo, the god of that familia." Syr said.

"Got it thanks Flova-san and Lion-san."

"Feel free to say Syr and Ryuu." Syr said.

"Okay Syr-san Ryuu-san. You can call me Aiden too."

"Okay Aiden-san so what will we gonna do about your clothes?" Syr asked.

"Actually, I'm staying at an inn called Blue Moon. How do I get there from here?" Aiden asked.

"Eh? Blue moon? That inn is there." Syr pointed out the window and it turned out to be right on the next street.

"So we're neighbors, then let me go change my clothes and I'll be back later." Aiden said.

"But you don't have a shirt yet." Syr said.

"Short walks are fine anyway. After all, as a man, I don't need to be embarrassed about my upper body being seen."

"Oh Okay then but you've to come back okay! Mama Mia wants to see you."

"Mama Mia?" Aiden asked.

"She is the owner of this place. And our boss." Ryuu said.

"Okay. Got it."

Aiden opened the window and since his mana was completely full, he used [Dash] and moved across the rooftops to reach the inn.

Aiden first went into his room and changed his clothes, then turned on the system and couldn't believe what he saw.
