Currency of Heroes

Waking up in the middle of a white room is a new one even for me, the memories of an abusive father and mentally ill mother though... not so much. With trauma from such things I am more calm than expected, perhaps do to my inner thoughts, I just realize the holographic screen in front of me.

With such choices it seems easy but all of them have a lot of potential. I'm not really a fan of wind as a power so I remove that, Red Riot seems really appealing but I'm not fond of getting beat... so that is gone, Monoma has amazing potential but the starting point is really really low. Denki? Yea.. No.

"So Toya it is." 

I mean I knew this was my choice from the start, we share almost identical childhood trauma, plus aren't Blue Flames just amazingly beautiful. I love all flames but blue and white stand above the rest. As soon as I click the name, memories slowly play in my head letting me see everything he has ever done, his will to get stronger to get the approval of his father, his jealousy of his younger brother Shoto, the longing to be loved. 

Tears roll down my eyes as all of these emotions are cycled through me as if I was an empath, truly understanding Toya as a person completely. Yet they are not changing who I am... completely. As I am Toya but not Toya I do not feel jealousy towards my younger brother nor seek approval from my father.

"Wait. Brother? Father? I guess it did affect me more than I thought. Hmmm, its not to the extreme, as long as I keep my sanity then it is fine."

"Shop", as I say it multiple categories open in front of me. 'Hmmm, Quirks, Traits, Abode, Items Appearance, and Miscellaneous.' Since I am now Toya, it would be wise to look at traits or items first.

"So it is there, I just do not have any coins to buy it with. With the highest fire power in MHA, Toya could not handle his own fire due to a weak constitution from his mother's side. If I get Fire resistance then I can get stronger without burning myself." 

With that in mind, I do remember something being mentioned about missions so I look and click on that tab. Only two missions appear and it seems I can choose from them.

[Missions]

1. Live in the Todoroki Family as Toya and become a Hero through U.A.

2. Fake Your death on the mountain and live as a Vigilante until the time is right.

'Well this is kind of annoying. Live in abuse with a broken family or live in the shadows not knowing if you are going to die. Both are terrible but if I want to survive in this world I do need to get stronger. Plus I do not know what will happen since I will not be in the League of Villains, some weird twist of fate might bring me into the story so the choice is clear. 

As I click on the mission, everything blurs and I am standing outside a dojo with a big man on fire roughly training a young kid, knowing it is Shoto as a young kid is weird to say the least. In all honesty I thought it was a dream at first but the reality of seeing the characters are blowing my sense of realism out of the water.

I guess being a top hero the sense of my father are exceptional as he notices me through the cracked door and makes eye contact with me. The aura he gives off is as menacing as you would think, standing 6'5" with 260 pounds of pure muscle and a quirk that stands at the top percent of society. It is like staring in the eyes of a flaming Lion about to feast. 

"Toya, I told you to stop watching the training! You are not fit to be a hero, You will never stand at the top, You can not even reach me, forget reaching All Might. Shoto is my MASTERPIECE. he will surely reach the peak!!!"

Knowing his nature, I'm not hurt by the words but I am scared just a bit, maybe it is the memories of the past as I'm shaking and nervously chuckling but to get on with thew mission I force the words out of my mouth. 

"Dad, I got to show you something! Come up to the mountain tonight! Really I got to show you, I can be a hero too!"

He huffs and slams the door and then continues training Shoto.

'With that out of the way I finally walk away towards the backdoor and slide it open to exit as I hear someone talk to me from behind. "Toya-Nii, where are you going?" I turn to see who it is and I see it is Natsuo.'

"I am going to train, I gotta show Dad what I can do tonight. Don't follow me or I will be mad." I say that but I don't wanna hurt the little kid since I am gonna be causing a forest fire per se. 

"Ahhh Nii-san, lemme go PLEASE!" Ugh this is why kids are annoying sometimes, "No but I will let you next time, how about it!" He seems upset but he nods his head and pouts. 

'Finally with some alone time, I walk to the mountain and scout out the are. From the story, I know he somehow survived the fire and All For One took him in. But, How will I survive without getting charred and going not only into All For One's clutches but a coma as well? I mind as well scout the area to see if their are any exit points or places to survive from a forest fire haha.'

I walked for hours around the mountain and found a few places but I am not entirely sure it will work, A cave that is pretty deep but the smoke will probably get to me before I realize it and die from carbon monoxide poisoning, Or a small pond but basically the same problem. It is then I spot a small creek about waist deep and realize that is my potential escape route. I pull out my phone and look at the map and realize this creek leads down the mountain into the city below, With that finalized. It is now time to wait.
