Felix was a well known simpleton in the village of Kifilio, with his only redeeming qualities being his sense of justice and hard working attitude, though anyone who met him would tell you that this could mostly be attributed to his - hmm, let's just say straightforward - brain. After his mother's death - his father died before he was born - he relied on the good relationships he had with his neighbours to get by, after all, how could a ten year old simpleton like him get by on his own? Sure he did all sorts of odd jobs, but since he was both unskilled and had a child's body they did not pay well. Over the next few years Felix did manage to become a carpenter of a passable level - although most of his customers only went to him instead of the actual village carpenter out of pity, and even then only when it was something simple - but whenever he was free he would think back to his mother's stories of the legendary cultivators and the moment she revealed his father had been one of them. On his fifteenth birthday Felix spends his savings for a place in a guarded caravan headed for the capital to try his luck at the annual sect examinations and follow in his father's footsteps.
