If you ask if I have ever thought about casting magic on Earth, I can't say I haven't. While wandering about Entropy, system explained to me the main types of magic.

When someone cast a spell, he/she appeals to the laws of the universe and in exchange gets a power equivalent to the mana spent. No matter how basic a spell, if one spends an astronomical amount of mana, he can forcefully increase the power of the spell. This is rarely done due to the inefficiency of forcefully powering up a spell. An analogy of making plastic bottles could be used. Let's say we want to increase the size of a plastic bottle, we would have to melt the plastic and then add in more plastic to increase the capacity of the plastic bottle. This is highly inefficient as it is much easier to just make a bigger bottle.

Mana can be said to be a type of energy, it exists all around us including in our body. The more mana a person has, the more powerful he is. In this world, the amount of mana you have in your body determines your level of power. For example, a warrior, mage and rogue with the same amount of mana are said to be at the same power level. (Note that power level does not include your skill or experience and age).

Every ability and skill uses up a certain amount of mana. The mana in your body strengthens your body thus it is difficult to kill a person with a larger mana pool than you. While it is indeed theoretically possible to use mana from the natural surroundings. The lack of understanding or the knowledge of the existence of air particles severely limits the use of mana from the atmosphere for inhabitants of Alcanti.

There are also those born with special abilities in Alcanti. Every one in a million people has a unique ability in Alcanti. However, whether the ability could be noticed or is useful is another question. Incantation to use abilities help to reduce mana cost for abilities or could be used to increase the power of the ability. The incantation could be custom made, but for starters, incantations must be in a fixed syllabus and a fixed number of phrases. If one has enough understanding of the ability, the number of phrase and syllabus could be changed. If a person lacks the experience or skill, fail incantations may lead to an explosion. (spells=mage, ability=all class)

Countries power are ranked in tier 0 to 3. The gap between each tier increases exponentially.

An extremely skilled tier 13 mage could cast a tier 10 spell like this { Burn all who oppose me }-Dragon breath. Note that tier 15 spells can wipe out an entire tier 0 country and is rarely used. Tier 14 spells could cause widespread damage and wipe out an entire medium-sized city. Tier 13 spells could wipe out a small sized city. Tier 12 spells can only cause widespread damage to a small city. Tier 11 spells can destroy city walls. The rest would be shown later on rather than explained. This applies only to spells and abilities that truly meant to cause direct destruction. (size of cities and countries will be explained later on)

An existence of a high tier person is a deciding factor in a war. While numbers are an advantage in a war the true deciding factor is a battle between the high tier people. Other decisive factors include the backing of a religion or a god. While there are times when a god joins a battle and clears the battlefield, this is extremely extremely unlikely as there are rules that every god must follow.

After the discussion with the system, I decided that becoming an adventurer would be best for now as I do not have an identity and that being an adventurer can allow me to pass through city much easier than going in solo without any backing. The adventurer guild is back by the god of adventures and the explorer god(names will be revealed in the future). From the system, the registration fee is 3 copper coins.

An adventurer is tasked with completing quests on the board beside the counter. The ranks are as follows, copper-iron-silver-gold-platinum-Mythril-orichalcum-adamantite. Dan walks slowly down and finally found the adventurer guild. Due to the system explanation of how the people on earth will be strengthened to a great extent when brought to a mana-rich area, he was convinced to become an adventurer and get used to this world. Also, the system promised to teach him some magic. (Want to know how powerful our mc is now? find out in the next chapter)

The adventurer guild is bigger than the surrounding buildings, however, it is made of wood and gives off a rather savage aura.

Right now its better to have a better basic understanding of Alcanti to better enjoy the story later on. Last chapter for today ;)
