THE NEW JOB

"Mum , I'm going out to see if there are any job vacancies left." I said to mum as we were having breakfast.

She looked at me and smiled before saying " Honey, there's no need for that, I saw one online today."

I looked at her squarely and was really confused at the way she was happy saying it. Why in God's name would she be smiling over a worthless job ,who knows if I was gonna mop the floors this time " Mum what are you so excited about?, it's not like I'm working in a bank or something" I asked wanting to know.

" My dear, the job is to work in Mr Orthor's villa as one of the cleaners " my mum explained.

" Mum, it's the same thing ." I said to her.

" You don't get it ,do you?" She asked realizing that I still didn't understand what she was saying.

"No I don't, you're making me confused." I said .

"Okay see it this way, you will be working for the almighty Mr Orthor Charles, secondly your pay will be higher " she said and waited for what she said to have effect on me .

"Oh that's good mum, so how and when do I get the job" I asked her.

" This is the phone number that was dropped for contacts,I quickly copied it because I knew that you would really need it" she said to me and went into the kitchen to drop her plates as she was already done with her breakfast.

I took her phone and copied the number into my phone without hesitation,my mum came out of the kitchen,pecked me and bided me goodbye as she headed for work.

I finished up with my breakfast and went into the kitchen to do the dishes,when I was done ,I went to the sitting room to call the number before the job vacancy was taken by another.

My name is Ava Rhodes, I'm the only surviving child of Mrs Roselia Rhodes ,more like her remaining child out of three.

I sat down on the sofa and dialed the number

*RING *RING *RING *RING *RING * RING*

The call was picked in just a moment,

"Hello, this is Mr Orthor's Villa hotline, how may I be of help?" A lady with a sweet voice asked.

" Good morning ma'am, I'm calling to inquire if the job vacancy is still available." I replied her.

"Please wait a moment while I check" she said politely.

After a little while she said..." Yes it's still available,are you interested?" She asked.

" Yes ma'am, that's the exact reason I'm calling " I said not really sure of what she was gonna say next.

" Well , that's no problem sweetie,I will send a form to you one Whatsapp now , which you will fill now and send back to me ,after sending it back to me ,you will have to wait for our feedback " the lady said to me .

"Okay ma'am, Thanks " I said excited.

"You're most welcome " she replied and hung up .

Immediately she hung up I turned on my mobile data so that I could see the message she would send on Time, moments later the message came in .

I went out of the house to print it,I came back ,filled the form,snapped it and sent it back to her .

Exactly an hour later ,I received a call from her saying that I got the job and I was to start work the next day ,she also said my uniform would be delivered to me that day by the villa's delivery van .she said I was to resume work by 7:00 am the next day.the house address was sent to me .

I was really surprised and overwhelmed at the good news ,I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming,but it was all real. I wanted to scream so loud,loud enough to feel that I was alive.

"Thanks you so much ma'am" was all I could muster enough courage to utter.

"You're welcome dearie, see you tomorrow" she said and hung up.

This was real good news ,mum would be really excited and happy. I just couldn't wait to break the news to her.
