Long Feng's Shadow Guard 2

A/N: I've been slowly running out of brain juice.

My ideas are running low and I blame myself because I don't stimulate my brain as much as I used to with schoolwork. I hope this fixes itself soon, unless you all have some form of way to stimulate or get the mind thinking.

'Was he looking at me?'

Holding his notebook in hand, Zhu just didn't know what to think about what had happened earlier.

But what if it's possible?

What kind of inhuman person is he?

Furrowing his eyebrows, Zhu continued to write in his notebook before lifting his head and looking at Long Feng.

With disheveled hair and a pale countenance that revealed how tired he was, Long Feng was mumbling.

-According to this morning's report from the morning Dai Li, Long Feng had been muttering to himself all morning.

There was no clear indication as to why, however, since this man is currently leading the Dai Li, we are keeping a close eye on any unusual activity.

So far, the Avatar's companion, Genji as they call him, hasn't had any contact with Long Feng since the day the Avatar's group arrived.

There's a high possibility it is Genji who is messing with Long Feng, although there's no clear evidence.

Genji seems like a very smart individual, able to evade detection and all. His other abilities are unclear, but there's a clear indication that his senses are strong. He's seen me four times so far ever since he arrived.-

"AH! Damn you!"

A yell broke Zhu's train of thought, making him turn to look at Long Feng who was pulling his hair and yelling.

"Grand Secretariat! What's wrong?!"

Jumping down to inspect Long Feng, Zhu's eyes narrowed and scanned Long Feng searching for an injury.

"AAAAAAHHH! Just let me sleep!"

Long Feng continued to scream in madness causing Zhu to feel uncomfortable and weirded out.

Keeping his distance, Zhu kept an eye on Long Feng,.

Watching on as Long Feng threw himself to the ground and writhed, Zhu wondered whether he should call a doctor.

'No… I can't let news of the Earth King's Grand Secretariat going crazy get out. But I need confirmation to see if he's really crazy.'

Looking around, Zhu thought about calling the royal physician. The only person he could possibly call upon right now.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"

Keeping his gaze on the screaming Long Feng, Zhu approached the door and sent word with the Dai Li to the royal physician.

It wasn't long before Zhu heard some footsteps outside the door. Opening the door, Long Feng led the old Royal Physician inside.

All this while, Long Feng finally stopped yelling as he remained sitting on the floor listlessly. A blank expression on his face as he looked at the couple of hairs he pulled off his head.

The royal physician stepped inside the room and gave Long Feng a glance with a single raised eyebrow before turning to look at Zhu.

"Is something wrong with the Grand Secretariat?" asked the royal physician as he approached Long Feng.

"I'm not quite sure. Before you arrived, he was screaming and on the floor," explained Zhu as he looked over at the now quiet Long Feng.

"Are you aware of what he has been doing or what could have influenced him like this?"

The royal physician approached Long Feng and grabbed his arm before checking his arms, pulse, before checking the rest of Long Feng.

"I've been made aware that he has been up for two nights without a wink of sleep. I've been told that whenever he would close his eyes to sleep, something would cause to wake him up," described Zhu.

The royal physician nodded with a heavy look on his face as he continued to check on Long Feng. Checking Long Feng's pupils and the state of his appearance, the royal physician nodded.

"I see…" muttered the royal physician with furrowed eyebrows.

Beginning to feel nervous, Zhu clenched his hands, "Royal physician, is something wrong with the Grand Secretariat?"

A short silence ensued as the royal physician continued to study Long Feng before slowly turning to look at Zhu.

Suddenly, the royal physician smiled, "Not one thing! At most, he has just been frustrated to great extremes under the pressure of wishing to sleep but always being blocked from doing so.

The necessity of sleep for the human body is high. There's the possibility of his bending slowly weakening due to a tired and fatigued mind and body.

His earlier outburst of screaming was one way to let go of his frustrations. Which is why he is very calm at this moment."

"…"

Zhu remained quiet after hearing the royal physician explain what Long Feng had. It all made sense to him and he nodded in gratitude to the doctor.

"I appreciate the help, royal physician."

The royal physician shook his head and went over to his bag, searching for something.

"In order to grant him further relaxation, I will perform a bit of acupuncture and provide you with a list of medicinal herbs that could help him recuperate," the royal physician said as he took out a rolled up silk cloth filled with acupuncture needles.

"Go ahead," said Zhu as he turned around and walked out of the room in order to prevent anyone from entering Long Feng's room and disrupting the royal physician.

"What a sensible young man…" Zhu heard the old physician say, making him feel a little proud of himself as he closed the door to the room.

However, unbeknownst to Zhu, the royal physician's kind and gentle face suddenly morphed as a wide devilish smile spread on his face.

"Here is the list," said the royal physician with a smile as he handed over a roll of paper to Zhu.

Zhu nodded and accepted the paper from the royal physician.

"Don't worry if the Grand Secretariat acts out of place for the rest of the day," said the royal physician. "The acupuncture I performed on the Grand Secretariat will help him relax further by helping him liberate all of his frustration and pain.

If he starts screaming or trying to cause harm to anyone, or himself, try giving him the medicinal soup you can make from the list of medicinal herbs I just gave you.

This medicinal soup has a sedative and relaxing effective, allowing Long Feng to calm down. Allowing him to calmly express his frustration and pain without any discomfort or embarrassment he may suffer in the future."

"You've been a great help, royal physician!"

Zhu bowed and cupped his hands towards the royal physician who smiled gently and turned to leave.

'What an amazing old man! He's very thorough,' thought Zhu as he looked at the medicinal herb list in his hand.

"RAAAGGHHHH!!"

Zhu suddenly jumped in fright at Long Feng's yell before remembering the royal physician's instructions.

Calling over two Dai Li to have them gather the medicinal herbs on the list and make the medicinal soup, Zhu went in to keep an eye on Long Feng who was currently screaming in anger.

Half an hour passed and the two Dai Li finally returned with a bowl of medicinal soup.

Fetching it and retrieving the prescription, Zhu quickly walked over to Long Feng who was smashing various objects within his room, Zhu force fed Long Feng the medicinal soup.

The instant the medicinal soup touched Long Feng's tongue, Zhu saw him visibly relax. The more Long Feng drank the medicinal soul, the more calm he became as his tensed muscles relaxed.

Slowly slumping down on the ground, Long Feng seemed like he was sedated. Taking the bowl from Zhu's hands, Long Feng began to chug down the rest of the medicinal soup.

"Fahh…" contentedly sighed Long Feng as the medicinal soup made its way to his stomach.

Zhu took back the bowl and passed it to the two Dai Li that were told to wait outside the room.

Sending them away with the bowl, Zhu turned to look at Long Feng who had a weird smile on his face.

"Hehe… what a curious rainbow…"

Raising an eyebrow at what Long Feng said, Zhu turned to the window and frowned.

'There's no rainbow… is this maybe a way for him to dispel his anger and frustration?'

Without thinking too much about it, Zhu closed the door and jumped up to the roof where he eventually hid himself in the shadows.

There, Zhu kept an eye on Long Feng who was sitting down on the ground, looking at the window with a smiling face. Giggling as if he had just seen the most funny thing, Long Feng clapped.

Long Feng continued to stay like that, occasionally yelling random stuff like saying that he saw another rainbow or a dragon flying outside his window.

It baffled Zhu to see that Long Feng had such a silly imagination.

'It's like he's high on the Northern Water Tribe's drug,' thought Zhu as he remembered a certain plant from the Northern Water Tribes' lands. A plant that is often smuggled into the Earth Kingdom because of it's effects on the human mind.

The Erlang Flower, famed for 'opening' the third eye and showing the people's visions. Visions of various things, like illusions or even hallucinations. (A/N: Erlang= Erlang Shen. Based on his truth-seeing third eye.)

Zhu's mind suddenly began ticking as he rapidly pulled out the prescription he was given and looked through the various medicinal herbs.

Not seeing the drug in the list, Zhu refused to calm down until he checked the prescription twice and was sure he didn't see the drug in the list.

Sighing, Zhu looked over the list once more before putting it away in his pocket. He turned back to Long Feng and just continued to observe him whilst he took out his small notebook and wrote in it.

Time was flowing by slowly as Long Feng jumped back and forth from outbursts of anger to being sedated.

Zhu passed his time babysitting Long Feng, constantly giving Long Feng the medicinal soup whenever the effects wore off and he was back to his outburst of anger.

'When will this end?' thought Zhu as he just finished feeding Long Feng the medicinal soup.

"Zhu," a voice called out behind Zhu.

"Is it time?" asked Zhu as he turned to look at the Dai Li behind him with a small, tired smile. Pulling out the prescription, Zhu passed it over to the shadow Dai Li and began to walk away. "Just prepare the prescription and feed it to the Grand Secretariat whenever he has an outburst of anger or sadness."

"Huh? Oh, sure," mumbled the night shadow Dai Li as he took the prescription and turned to Long Feng who was currently smiling in such a silly way. "Is he…"

"Bye! You have my regards," said Zhu as he ran away.

Today, heading home was the best part of Zhu's day.

"Just what happened?" mumbled the shadow Dai Li as he looked at the prescription paper in his hand before putting it away.
