CEO and the Lawyer's Journey

Lin Mei just finished a case in the Supreme Court and it was a famous case even before it became official as it involved a scandal with a popular k-pop singer's family (who have government positions) and a senior government official.

When she came out, reporters were already waiting to see if they could get her opinion on this case.

Reporter 1: Ma'am what is your opinion on the case?

Reporter 2: Ms.Lin, how do you feel?

While reporters ask all these questions, Mei Lin's bodyguards circled around her and her assistant Huang Wei so they won't get surrounded by reporters and have a little bit of privacy.

"Good job Xiao Mei, you did well today," Wei said warmly. In contrast to Mei Lin's cold self, Wei is in his mid-thirties and had a warm, kind face that hid his scheming mind.

"Hm thanks Wei-ge" Mei said because although she was cold, she can be a little less to those who are close to her and Wei was a brother to her since he has been with her ever since she decided to become a prosecutor.

"Mm let's go now" Wei said but before they could leave, a reporter shouted out

Reporter Min: "Ms.Lin, Actor Ito Kaito is said to rape government official Ms.Saito as well as government official Mrs.Sato. What do you think and will you help the government again or will you find a way to help him?" she asked

"I believe that if I do look into the case and he seems innocent, then I will find ways to help him and if he doesn't seem innocent, and I get this case, I will go against him. But for every case, it has three sides" Mei said even though Wei signaled her not too, she wanted to speak as this case reminded her of a case that was close to her as it dealt with a close friend who ended up dying with shame, and it is quite literal as she could not keep up with the shame and at the time Mei wasn't famous though tried really hard to help as she was originally a lawyer but ended up losing the case as the other side bribed the court judges and jury.

"Xiao Mei, why did you say that? What if he…" Wei didn't finish and flashes of confusion and concern were in his eyes

"Mm Wei-ge, I have a reason as to why I said that" Mei said with hidden sadness in her eyes

" *sigh* fine Xiao Mei I trust you" Wei responded

While they were talking they were also walking to the car with the bodyguards surrounding them to give them some privacy

After they reached the black Maybach bulletproof car and they got in

- at Mei's office -

Mei and Wei arrived at the firm she "works" at

(A/N: technically speaking she owns 30% shares in Lin Law Firm so she is a partial owner as she has the second-highest share amount out of all the shareholders)

They went to the 45th floor (out of 50 floors) and went to their respective cabins. Mei had a fourth of the floor for herself and Wei. Wei had his cabin right in front of Mei as he was her assistant and an old family friend.

-flashback-

"Xiao Mei, are you sure you don't want my shares?" Liu Yang asked

(A/N: she is married thus not having our Mei's last name and yes she is Mei's biological aunt aka her father's younger sister)

Liu Yang being the only sister of Lin Sheng, a martial arts master also the owner of Lin Martial Empire, a martial arts group that specializes in training, providing their people to their clients (kind of like bodyguards), and supplying martial arts weapons. Lin Mei is the heiress to the group, and as promised, even though she took the route of being a lawyer instead of studying martial arts after he retires, she will take over the group thus making herself study business as well as law.

Liu Yang also was more interested in law thus making a law firm, Lin Law Firm. After Mei showed interest in law she wanted to hand over the business to Mei but knowing that was not possible after she heard of the promise made between her brother and niece, she settled with Mei being the second-largest shareholder and temporary CEO should anything happen to her before her son was of age to take over.

(PS: Liu Yang is asking this before she got to know the promise between her brother and her niece. Also, Mei is the only child thus making Sheng having Mei as the heiress)

"No Aunt Yang, recently I made a promise to dad that since I have decided to become a lawyer and not study martial arts, I will become the next CEO for Lin Martial Empire and study business alongside law. So I will not have time for your law firm" Mei stated

"Ok dear, well I am still giving you some to make you a second-biggest shareholder and if anything goes wrong, you will become the temporary CEO until my son can take over, ok?" Liu Ying compromised

"Sure Aunty" Mei replied smiling

-end of flashback-

Huang Wei came from the Huang family, a loyal family to the Lin Family, serving them, the Lins, for generations since the start of the Lin Family's growth in martial arts and the business.

Huang Wei was the next person in line to serve whoever was the one to take over the Lin Family which happen to be Lin Mei. Even though he was not required to help Mei until she took over Lin Empire since she decided to get into law, he decided to follow her as he treats her like his little sister.

- 20 min later -

Mei was working in her cabin when she got a call from her mother, Chi Yan*, and after putting down a document of a case she was reading she picked up the call

"Mom" Mei greeted

"Brat, after 1 week you finally decided to pick up your phone to talk to your mother" Chi Yan said

"Sorry mom, I was busy with the case, you must have seen it on TV already" Mei responded calmly
