THE SKIES ARE NOW DARKER, the expanse a mild lilac and blush of orange. It's now only a few minutes before the twilight completely becomes night. Four dead bodies line the edge of the treeline where Caden and his men stand. Four dead Ferals. It feeds the troop's determination and fills them with more spirit.
The treeline branches out into a clearing about half the size of a football field. This wide arena houses the cabin, the lodgings, some other wooden storehouses, and the small Ranger tower.
Melanie kicks the head of the Scotsman and a smudge of blood coats her bare feet. Her blue pants are also smudged in smears of red. Her casual dressing and her lack of shoes had been part of their plan, her plan to appear as weak as possible.
It seems now that the plan had worked far better than anyone expected.
"Fuck you!" she whisper-yells at the Scotsman's bleeding head.
