Over The Wall

Sergent Kace saw the explosion and couldn't wait any longer, he couldn't see any guards on the walls so he decided to make a break for it, with all the chaos he was hoping no one was paying attention to anyone approaching. He left orders with the solder to have the others follow as soon as they could.

Kace poured everything he had into his run hoping to get to who he figured was Bruni in time. When he approached the wall he made steps come out so he could easily climb over the wall, once ontop he seen a mass of fire and molten rock in a pool to the side a couple of hundred paces away so he ran while calling "BRUNI! Is that you boy?!" he started to yell.

I was motionless for a time just resting in my 'throne' inside the wall, I only started to climb out when I heard an unmistakable yell from on top of the wall, "Hehe, it looks like it's time I got out of here." I giggled as I coughed up blood in a wet laugh, I couldn't feel pain but I really didn't want to get up, but I knew I couldn't stay here now, I was just planning on dying in this terrible place once I had taken my price from the enemy but with this new development, I had a couple of options available if I could only think straight.

My mind was telling me to burn, kill, and destroy everything inside this blasted castle but my body had different ideas, I stood up and stumbled out of the wall and fell to my knees as soon as I stepped out. "Kace... Haha, what a pleasure to see you here." I smiled at the man as he jumped down beside me but not too close as I still had the fire aura going strong.

"Bruni, my boy we are here for you but I don't know how long till the soldiers here start to get organized enough for a counter-attack against you, you may have caused a fair amount of chaos with your fireworks show but that will only last so long as long as they fear you then they might stay inside the castle but who knows. If the dark lady commands them to come out then we will be in big trouble, we need to leave boy!" he exclaimed as I lowered my aura so that he could approach to help me up.

The world came into more and more focus the longer I talked with Kace, I could feel something desperately wrong within my body, as the heat started to dissipate from me I started to fall but Kace caught me by my wrists as he could still feel the magnificent heat flowing from my armor I created.

"Bruni I cant take your weight, your armor is too hot, is there anything you can do about it?" Kace asked as he tried to drag my weakened self up to the stairway not too far away.

Just when I was about to respond arrows started to fall around us, a few hit me but did nothing as my armor was still strong even if I was weakened, I made it when I was still full inferno mode after all, what I feared in my weakened state was being captured by more mages but The dark lady surprisingly hadn't sent them out yet, maybe she was concerned more with the reinforcement that showed up on the wall behind me than trying to capture or kill me.

Shortly after the archers in the inner bailey started to shoot at us I put more effort into running, it was more of a shamble but much better than being dragged unceremoniously by my wrists. I made it up the stairway to the top of the wall where I recognized my fellow bunkmates but they all looked at me a bit terrified, I was still mostly on fire and I was drenched in blood and gore with my crown still firmly attached. Oh well, nothing to be done about it I mused to myself as quickly made my way down the other side of the wall as more and more arrows started to pepper our position.

"Bruni, are you okay boy?" Sergeant Volk asked as he met me at the bottom of the wall. His hand was on the hilt of his sword as if he was afraid I wasn't in control of my own body. He had seen me lose control but this time was different, I really had let loose and the explosions could be heard from many miles away, it was prudent to be cautious with a half-mad Firemage, I thought this to myself as I put on the cruelest smile on my face.

"Do I look okay?" I asked as I started to laugh uncontrollably, the solders all started to shuffle uncomfortably as they looked at me. "We don't have time for this, I killed a lot of mages and soldiers inside the castle and I don't think The Lady is just going to let us leave easily, we must make haste from here or we are all dead once she gets the army organized to come after us.

Kace came down the last few steps and agreed with what I said before he ordered us to retreat as he guided me towards the camp. Blood was flowing from both my eyes now and within seconds of being ordered to run I collapsed and finally let the darkness take me.
