Much needed praise
Alaric quickly vanished from there and reappeared at the spot where he had buried the core. This unintentional decision is going to help his liege very much, and Alaric was proud of the fact that he was the one who had decided to do this. Whether this was something he should be proud of or not, he didn't care.
After digging up the hole, he breathed a sigh of relief when noticed that the core was still safe and sound, lying there.
"Phew! Thank god the core is still here.' he thought, imagining how embarrassing it would have been if he felt proud and everything and the core were gone.
The core had managed to survive because hundreds of monsters had gone so insane and that's why they didn't even notice the core even while trampling all over it. If this had happened in the wave before this one, the monsters would have literally dug up the hole in the ground and pulled out the core.
