Change in motives

"Tess, what are you doing!" Zino shrieked.

Szedra and Zack said nothing as they stared at their two teammates about to start something.

Lanse's face and the sword Tess held at his neck flashed white for a second. The deep rolling echoed from above and everything got ten times duller. But she didn't take her eyes away from him to observe it.

Lanse kept silent but his brows connected, challenging her to do it. He wanted to see her cut him with that sword. He swore that was going to be the last straw with her.

Tess dismissed her sword and took a deep breath as she glared into his eyes. No, she wasn't going to kill him. That wouldn't solve anything, and she needed to remain in control of her emotions.

The deep rolling from one side of the sky followed tapping that began to get louder. It was from millions of droplets hitting everything.
