"What do you want from me?" she asked after finishing the burger I got her. we had spent the night together on a non-official date as we got to know each other. Well, it was mostly just me making conversation until she got interested in the topic.
"You wouldn't believe me If I told you," I respond with a bit of mischief seeing an opportunity to tease her again Knowing too well it would backfire on me. She simply narrowed her eyes clearly skeptical of my response. Try me," she challenged, clutching her book tightly as if it were a shield causing her cheeks to puff up a little like a chipmunk.
"Hmm, alright then," I said, leaning forward and motioning for her to do the same. Surprisingly she followed my instructions until only six inches separated us. I could smell her blossom perfume again but his time I remained focussed.
"It's simple really I need a friend, new kid and all," I told her in a slow measured way trying to sound as dramatic as possible. It took her a second to compute my words, her green eyes slowly widening when she finally realised I was teasing her again.
Well, my bright grin also gave that away prompting her to swing her book at my shoulder to push me away. "Stop making fun of me and be serious," She retorted trying her best to hide the embarrassment that was gushing out.
I held up my hands in mock surrender, grinning ear to ear. "Okay, okay. You got me," I said, still chuckling. "But in all seriousness, I do want to be friends. New kid in town, remember?" I said after noticing that she was reverting to her default scowle.
Abigail's expression softened just a little as she started to consider my words for a second. She glanced at me with those piercing eyes, still wary but less hostile. "Why me?" she asked, her voice quieter, more thoughtful. She is a lot more self-conscious at this age than I remember her being in college.
This makes sense since she is a high school girl, a nerd to boot, the new-gen type that will call you on your shit makes her extra wary. I shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant. "Why not? You seemed lonely reading a book at a cookout" I told her with a straight face, wondering whether she had friends since no one came to hang out with her.
Then again my passive black force energy is quite strong so maybe they got too scared to approach. However, looking at her personality to new people she must not have a lot of friends. At my words, she rolled and looked like she was debating whether to clock me with her book again. She eventually decided to spare my bacon, which is progress if you ask me.
"Alright," she said finally, "but if you keep annoying me, this friendship won't last long." She stated with a haughty expression but I caught a hint of a smile as she turned her head. "But then your life will be boring again," I retorted with a sad smile acting as if I was seeing a bleak future for her.
She let out a small, involuntary laugh before quickly composing herself, her cheeks reddening slightly. "We'll see about that," she replied, trying to sound indifferent but failing to hide the amusement in her eyes.

[14th August, 15:20]
Two days later was the school team's first day of training at one of the smaller gyms. It only consisted of a court, baskets and marked lines but there were no spectator sections. The girls had the main court today which some of the guys grumbled about.
Yesterday after lunch as promised the coaches posted the Varsity squad roaster list. The team looked pretty strong from my view since those guys performed well at trial but some of the seniors were less than pleased. Jake Williams a Senior now has it out for me after losing his spot to me.
I don't know why he is mad though since not only is he shorter than me he is sorry. If he and I were to go one-on-one I would cook him into the next century. He might suffer an aneurysm after experiencing the real-life light-skin assassin. I don't get why he is mad at me when Callum Watkins the other senior in the SG position.
He is shorter than him but his technical skills are slightly weaker. His only saving grace is his stronger defensive skills and more physical playstyle. Anyway, instead of being mad at the other senior who is closer to his level the guy is taking it out on me. He's been giving me death glares ever since and getting most of the team to ostracise me.
This doesn't bother me since I'd rather hang out with my cousin, Royale, and Abby when she is not ignoring me. Anyway, our team is looking rather decent we've got both height and depth in each position. There is one other sophomore called Isaiah Hill but I haven't had the chance to talk to him yet.

That's the roster for the varsity team and today is our first day of training and hopefully, it goes well. Walking into the gym I spotted a few of the guys warming up doing some stretches and shooting some free throws. Some of them saw me enter and nodded in recognition but others simply ignored me entirely. I placed my duffel against the wall and went to pick up a ball to warm up a little.
We don't have our own jerseys yet so we were all wearing our own workout clothes. I'm dressed in a Kobe kit with a black under-armour sleeve on my right arm. I could have worn my King James kit but I felt like the black mamba would help set the tone for the new season.
I dribbled the ball a couple of times getting a feel for the ball as I walked around the court. "Sophmore you should just get my rebounds because you won't get to play on this team," Jake who was here for some reason said to me catching me by surprise.
"Yeah, you should just quit, go join your mom's team and you might get to play," Cam standing next to him chimed in before I could even compute why and how I ended up in this cliche situation.
They had another shorter kid with them who was most likely a Junior or sophomore trying to join their social group. Trying to please them he also started rambling with jabs but quickly stopped after making eye contact with me. Sometimes a look is all you need to realise just how much danger you are in.
"Wait a moment who are you guys again?" I asked them with my biggest shit-eating grin causing their expression to distort in both anger and embarrassment.
