48: The End Of William Stryker

A red and silver dual-colored mech crashed through the church roof, appearing in full view. In the sunlight, it resembled a god descending from heaven.
The mask opened, revealing Tony Stark standing in mid-air, staring at them in bewilderment. "What... what are you doing?"
Adam Robert was taken aback, but before he could react, the surroundings suddenly underwent a dramatic transformation.
The thunderous sound of Iron Man breaking through the roof seemed to tear apart an invisible veil of light. As the light gradually dissipated, Catherine, Eddie, and the others lying in a pool of blood vanished like bubbles.
The same fate befell Wolverine, Phoenix, and the rest on the other side. Everyone was gone.
Witnessing this scene, Adam Robert and the others were horrified. They instinctively raised their weapons in search of their targets, only to hear a soft cough from the corner.
They turned to look... The individuals they had restrained not long ago were all standing there calmly. The X-Men's eyes were filled with amusement, but it was Catherine, Eddie, and the others, who had been clearly dead, that left them in shock.
"Oh my God!"
Adam Robert was struck dumb, unable to comprehend what was happening here...

Adam Robert never could have imagined that his recent actions, as well as his connection to William Stryker, were all broadcasted live. The audience saw it.
The President and Vice President in the White House also witnessed it after receiving the news.
Even William Stryker himself... saw it.
William Stryker, being deathly afraid of exposure, didn't personally oversee the operation. Nevertheless, he closely followed the mission's outcome from the base.
That's why, when the X-Men made their statement, he saw it immediately.
With his intellect and political savvy, he sensed something amiss right away and quickly attempted to abort the operation. However, he discovered that he couldn't establish contact with the action team no matter what he tried.
Thus, like the other viewers, he could only watch his subordinates and himself through the live broadcast, as they divulged all their plans. William Stryker was utterly shattered.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"
Unprecedented rage surged through him, causing his entire body to tremble uncontrollably. At this point, he still failed to comprehend that this plan to capture the turtle in the jar had failed from the very beginning.
He was the turtle that had been captured! This was a trap for himself.
"It's all fake, fake, fake!"
"There must be a mutant I don't know, possessing the ability to create illusions and manipulating all of this, making everyone see it through the live broadcast!"
"But even so, how did the X-Men learn about my plan?!"
"They know that I intended to assassinate the President, they know that my target is a brainwave enhancer, and they even know that my son is a mutant!"
"How do they know everything?!"
"What is going on?!"
Countless questions flooded his mind, causing William Stryker to feel as if his head would explode. He couldn't accept this scene at all and nearly believed it was all a dream.
He couldn't make sense of it. All he could do was let his anger run rampant through his body! And then... panic set in.
Of course, he knew the live broadcast was an illusion. Everyone in the base knew he hadn't left. Thus, he could completely disregard his connection to Adam's team and accuse the X-Men of slandering him.
But deep down, he knew it made no difference!
Whether the live broadcast was real or not, what truly mattered was the content of the conversation between him and Adam Robert. Every word spoken was true.
He truly controlled Nightcrawler to assassinate the President. His son truly was a mutant. Just these two points alone were enough to bring him irrevocable damnation.
The fury of the White House and the people would consume him entirely. The true intention of the other party was to expose these two facts to the public through the live broadcast!
"Damn X-Men... damn mutants... damn Adam Roberts..."
William Stryker clenched his teeth. Before the live broadcast ended, phones throughout the entire base rang incessantly, and he glanced out of the glass window, observing as soldiers answered call after call. Each one of them then cast strange expressions toward his office.
Of course, he knew who was making those calls.
The White House...
The military...
He could find a way to appease the former's wrath. But the latter...
He had no doubt that if such a severe political scandal were to erupt, those in power would abandon him without hesitation, placing the blame squarely on his shoulders...
The reasons were clear...
Your son is a mutant. How can you continue to lead the Weapon X program against mutants?
"Professor X... No... There must be someone else hidden behind him... They've calculated everything, even this."
"This is... a plan to eliminate them all!"
With this realization, William Stryker felt all strength drain from his body, collapsing onto his chair with a resounding thud, well aware that he had reached the end.
It's over! No! It's not over yet!
Ultimately, he was the ruthless man who nearly wiped out all mutants. William Stryker was flustered, but managed to hold on to a sliver of reason. "As long as I don't end up in prison, I still have time and opportunities..."
With that in mind, he quickly stood up and headed straight for the base's tarmac. However, the moment he opened the door... it didn't budge at all.
Shortly after, a playful electronic voice suddenly emanated from the base's radio!
"Mr. William Stryker, according to my master, you are currently unable to leave this base."
After the upgrade, Alice's intelligence level had significantly increased, and William Stryker even detected a trace of playfulness. "Because soon, my master will come to pay a visit~"
William Stryker's face finally paled. His own base... had been infiltrated?
He momentarily recollected the bizarre circumstances at the church. Even though the reporter had still been able to establish a live connection, he couldn't contact Adam Robert and the others.
It turned out that the other party hadn't jammed the signal near the church, but rather on his own side...
Blocked within the base! This time, it was truly over.
