Out Of It

[MARINA]

If she had accommodated Cecil... if Cecil wasn't scared of Marina's answer to her questions or yell, Marina would have had a shoulder to cry onto. But hey, sometimes, it was better for one man standing on his or her island, right?

After the nurse confirmed that their beta was okay, the calm wolf wasn't calm anymore. Disturbed, Marina wondered why Ivy Tanner took her off to the point of thinking she would be mad at her because she wrecked her car. After uncannily telling Ivy she mustn't die, she let go and allowed the wolf to take control.

Cautious, the wolf knew they weren't somewhere they could transform freely, it needed out and soon. As soon as her feet stepped outside, the hair behind her neck stood, it felt chilly, and the commotion the nurse mentioned earlier seemed unending, but it was none of her business, she heeded Lana's push and they were out of the hospital. Ivy's food is long forgotten. It wasn't like Ivy would die if she missed a day's food, right?

Marina kicked the car's door; it budged a little bit but not to the point where she would break it. "Keys, pocket, now!" Lana roared. Marina's eyes hue changed into dark black, completely dissociated from herself, the people around her looking at her like some lost puppy went unnoticed.

She dipped into her pocket and found the keys to Cecil's vehicle fumbled while trying to open the door. Before anyone asked if she needed help, the door opened. Maniacally, she started the engine.

Far away, a siren rang, and the people around prayed to the sky that the woman who seemed would kill them if they approached didn't get hit by it. The siren got nearer and nearer, and slowly, the ones around approached the car, Marina's body was on fire, and she couldn't figure out how to open the window, giving up, she swerved out of the lot and drove towards the gate almost hitting some patients.

With trembling hands, she watched as the guard opened the gate slowly as if his life depended on being lazy, she squeezed the life out of dear steering and before it opened completely, she drove off.

Thankfully, the incoming ambulance's speed wasn't fast it swayed out of the way in time for Marina to drive past it.

"Don't die on me." Lana once more yelled to no one in particular. Light from an incoming car blinded her, with her faster reflexes she hit on the brakes, the car stopped, the driver came out, instead of Marina waiting, she hit on the gas and sped off leaving the driver behind wondering if she had a death wish.

Completely out, Marina kept driving, gratefully earlier, Cecil had routed the GPS on her car to its final destination to be at Marina's isolated home.

The uncomfortableness from the Fisher's Pack with Marina constantly asking if they were almost there irritated her to her the deepest of her core, she knew she wouldn't stand her after they checked on Ivy.

Her car was the only one on the road unlike when she drove out of the hospital's environs. Well, it was past night anyways. "Almost there. Almost there." Her subconscious kept informing her. After a while, Lana shrieked that they were not in danger yet, and she arrived at her gate. The gate was opened, and it was the least of their concern.

She parked the car and ran into her house. The impenetrable darkness didn't scare her, her hands didn't find their way to the switch, instead, she removed her shoes, held them in her hands, dropped them carefully on the shoe rack, and then went to the back door.

Marina stripped on her way to the swimming pool, folding the clothes into a bundle slowly, carefully not to wrinkle them, she placed them on the bench. Of course, it wasn't necessary but no one would blame her for not breaking her obvious routine.

She let out a toe-curling scream as she fell to the ground.

"No transforming." Lana reminded her. Groaning and confused, Marina screamed again. Weak, and restless, she crawled her way into the swimming pool, maybe the water would shut down the burning veins that seemed to forget where and where to take her blood.

"Between me and you, if we stay half-transformed it will hurt as hell." Lana ranted. For a few seconds Marina forgot to inhale. Lana shouted at her, "breathe!"

Marina sucked in air as she continued rolling towards the swimming pool. The water was warm, and at least no teeth chattering, right? The darkness spread around her, she saw nothing, she looked like a water stealer. She fell head-first into the water and splashed into the surroundings. Forgetting that she wasn't some sort of a fish but rather a wolf, she drew in some air, only for water to rush into her lungs.

Coughing crazily, Marina curled herself up in the water. After the lungs registered no danger anytime soon, they stopped burning, and she closed her mouth and went under.
