Exile
The next day, Safira woke up to brunch in bed. Damien woke up a few hours earlier to prepare everything, from the toasted bread, down to the runny yolk eggs that were fresh off the pan.
She was quick to notice the dark circles beneath his eyes. She cupped his cheek in her hands, caressing his face as she looked at him.
"Did you sleep late last night?" She croaked in her morning voice, still a little fatigued from the day before.
"Just a little later than usual," he replied, followed by a telling yawn.
She poured him a cup of coffee and handed it to him.
"I think you need this more than I do," she mused.
Damien thanked her kindly as he took the cup from her.
"Mmm that's the best coffee I've ever had," he declared after finishing his cup.
"Are you praising yourself? You brewed the coffee!"
"But you poured it. And that's what makes the difference," he replied confidently with a wink.
