Glamorous Beauty

"Sabina! Sabina!" the mother called.

She was carried away, taken in her thoughts.

A down pour of water, followed the call. Her mother decided to pour a full dish of water just to attract her attention.

"Eish!" she exclaimed and immediately snapped back to reality.

"I have been calling you, why didn't you respond?" and before she could answer to the question, a hard slap on her back followed. Sabina jumped to her life. The mother threw a few bank notes on her "go to the market and get some vegetables! don't be late." Sabina shivered as she found her way to the market.

Sabina suffered the atrocities of living with a step mother. Her mother died mysteriously and Sabina was too young to be told what may have caused her mother's death.

Sabina lived in the deep heart of a compound in the city of Luanshya. The compound (Kwishilya) was a typical compound, one which had a lot of activities that anyone from the up town would be scared of. At every point one walks, they would have to take a glance at their shoulder, just to make sure no one is trailing behind.

Following the tails of Kwishilya, the likes of Sabina were not expected to be found in such an area. She was a tall dumsel with curly long brown hair of shoulder length, her eyes where calling, lustrous and very alluring to a person who would look straight in her eyes. A light hour glass shaped body, well built that every young lad would want to say hello to. At any point she crossed paths with a man, he would uncontrollably look back to take a glance at her beauty and curved body.

People in Kwishilya were considered to be highly impoverished but very few residents uplifted their life styles. The rest lived in mud houses. Sabina was one of those that came from a house that was made out of mud blocks. Her beauty puzzled everyone for a mud house standard.

Every evening Sabina would be sent to the market to buy vegetables and any food supplies for super. It is a normal thing for families that have financial challenges to continually buy foodstuffs before a meal because they usually don't know how much they have and if it will sustain them.

Sabina would walk down the road to the market, to people it would look like show off, but for most men it was a chance to see her. For any man who would like to see Sabina, there were only two times in a day that she would pass in two directions, either going to the market or on the route heading to the clinic. Some men who knew her routine would take chances on either routes just to have a word with her. Those lucky would met her but still fail to hold a conversation with her.

After Sabina noticed that she was being followed by a number of men and they knew the times she went out, she decided to change routes.

One day on her way out, on her normal routines, she used the inner road and not the usual one. Sabina bumped into to a young, handsome lad, unfortunately short and shorter than Sabina but very light in complexion, so mascular as though he was a weightlifter. Sabina never saw him and never paid attention at the person in front of her but on the other hand, the young lad saw Sabina from a distance, she was glowing like a goddess. The closer she came the more jittery the lad become. For a while he went on mute and stopped everything he was doing just to look at the beauty approaching him. He thought to himself, "what a beauty! should I stop her?"

"or should I just watch her pass by?"

"she's so beautiful, but she doesn't look like a Lady fit for my kind"

"I have never seen such a female from this area, this place doesn't have beautiful girls like this. I'm sure she's just here to visit or she might just be passing through this place going to the neighboring compound. Otherwise if she was from this compound I would have seen her somehow or met her somewhere."

"Kwishilya Kwa wama!" he speaks to himself in a native language meaning Kwishilya is turning out to be in nice place after all.

As he was thinking to himself, Sabina reached the point he was standing. All the plans he had of how he would greet her, if he will talk to her, all went in vain as she just walked and he watched. And when she went, the boy blamed himself for failing to talk to a girl.

"Yaba! Napanya" he cried of losing a beautiful girl. All he could do was have faith that he would see her again. And for the next few days he stood outside to see the beautiful doll he saw, after looking left and right without seeing her he gnashed his teeth not knowing he only missed her the right time she passed.

"Did she see me?"

"Since I was slashing I think she noticed that I am just a garden boy."

"would she even befriend me if she knew that am just a worker here?"

He kept on wondering to himself for a long time. The moment he thought of stepping out of the yard just to see what's happening outside, then he saw a female matching Sabina's description but he was able to to denote the difference in physical appearance from a distance. "hey! is she the one? no, this one looks slightly short and not all that light, she can't be the one, even if I saw her once I wouldn't fail to identify her. "That beauty, those eyes, the long hair, ohh, that was a masterpiece created by God"

"I wish I went after her, but if I did what would I give her? am just a poor garden boy trying to raise some money for myself and my family." But, "The next time I see her, I won't hesitate, I will chase her behind like a rabid dog until she says something even if it is bad but at least a word from her would be enough."

"A man is a man, despite the height or the pocket." he thought to himself and shook his body as a sign of majesty as he walked back inside the gate.

The day went by without Sabina passing through that area.

And all the vouchers that waited to see her, catch a glimpse or talk to her failed and went home with a fallen face.

Did she find a different route? Did she notice that the garden boy was looking at her and wasn't comfortable? nobody knows.
