Abyss Mage

In the middle of a battlefield, a child is found, the creation of man's love for war. He will have to face many dangers to retrieve his memories and discover the reason for his existence. The only certainty is that true human nature is not good, yet he will face this world as an adventurer and will try to understand this chaotic world in which he appeared. In this novel, the MC is neither good nor bad. At first, he will have a childlike and antisocial mentality, but the surrounding environment will shape him, so his actions are purely natural and are not always the best to be taken. The nature of the MC's powers ends up putting him in certain unexpected situations, and yes, with a slight touch of necromancy, but no systems or such things, the MC will have to become strong by pure training. This is not just a story about getting stronger. There are several characters with broken personalities who are also suffering in this world. The world is in a state of constant war, and there is injustice everywhere. The MC himself also commits part of it. His moral actions change over time and are NOT CONSTANT. Everyone goes through changes during their lives, and the same applies to the MC here. *No harem and almost no romance at all. *English is not my first language. Quick update from the author: I wrote this story many years ago, and a lot has changed since then. Now, after all these years, I’m finally back with a new book called Demon Templar. You can find it on Kindle!"

Old Friends

All the undead orcs have died quickly inside the orc lines, but that triggered a commotion with orcs killing orcs and having a hard time knowing who is the enemy.

Yet dozens of adventurers died every second that passed, and even the army was getting even more grouped than before, it didn't matter how many orcs were killed on the battlefield. His lines were just getting stronger every second.

'This would be a good moment to have the mana from the Oracle...' Gremory thought, remembering the sensation of unlimited power from before.

But nobody was coming to help them, if they retreat now, Geoffrey and his squad will probably be killed before completing the mission. So Gremory needed to keep the adventurers there, no matter the cost.

One by one, he absorbed everyone in his way, every orc and every human that died. He needed to get stronger somehow, yet the evolution process would in the best scenario take hours or even days and he was not with so much time.

'It's time to play with fear.'

With his current mana, he liberated the shadows into the sky and dispersed making a heavy cloud of shadows with no effects. It only tapped the light of the sun, but that alone was already changing the course of the battle. Even if his strength was only a lie, he would make them fear him, creating even more chaos inside the orc army.

In the beginning, they were only 2k adventurers, but their numbers were only half right now, and the orc army was already trying to surround them. Letting them with no escape.

'Nothing win against so many enemies in the end. Maybe this time I will die, and everyone here will too...'

Gremory was feeling compassion, for the people around him giving their lives to protect the ones they love in the city. For his friends who may even already be dead and only came because of his call.

But now, nothing matter anymore, he thought that he would feel so much pleasure in this battle, but there was none anymore.

Suddenly he saw some people flying in the sky, wearing robes with a tree under the rain adorned on their robes, it was the crest of the house Valzor. And there was also a boy with blue hair, that was Edward, the boy from the Delvirt with water element.

'Reinforcements? Finally!'

Edward was a funny boy, or at least was what Gremory remembered of him. But there was only a serious expression, looking below like this was just another common day for him.

Then all sorts of spells started to be fired in the orc army, there were only 7 mages but this was enough to give some rest for the human lines.

The adventurers were already fighting until the last man standing with no hope of getting out alive, so when they saw the mages flying in the sky, they started to scream in celebration while fighting.

Edward was only a rank E, so Gremory thought that Edward would not be stronger than any of the mages of Viridian house who entered with him. But he could see his mana and he was already rank B, just like Gremory.

But there was no light in his eyes anymore, he was just killing without even care. The last months in the Valzor house changed him, but that made him much stronger than before, his evolution surpassed Gremory, but he could tell that was not a usual thing. Since the mages with him were already adults.

'hahaha, I was left behind, good work Edward.'

Yet, that didn't last, the orcs soon came back attacking and the numbers continued decreasing more and more. Until the signal came, it was a red flare launched in the sky.

'WE WON!'

"FULL RETREAT, EVERYONE RUN TO THE FOREST AND REGROUP AT THE CAMP." Gremory screamed and started to look for Claire, Danton, and Rudo, most people were already dead and they were almost surrounded by the orcs even with the help of the mages in the sky.

Gremory knew that they would be probably dead by now. Yet he continued looking for them until he finally found them.

He ran to their direction mounted in Cerberus and then with each of his head, Cerberus grabbed them and started to run away from the orcs in the direction of the forest.

"It's over now?" Claire who was covered in blood asked. She was an archer, things were not good if she was in close combat.

"We won?" Rudo asked, he too was covered in blood, his shield was just a piece of crap right now.

The only one that was not covered in blood was Danton, with just a bit of blood on his sword and he didn't say a word.

"Yes, we won, this battle at least." Gremory replied.

Gremory absorbed all the dead once again, this time the dead humans too. After all, they would become food for the orcs. But when looking with Hanzor, he couldn't see Qetur, which means that his crystal is broken. He could summon him again another time, but now he needed more mitre crystals.

'I could even build an army if I had enough mitre crystals, and a lot of time too...' Gremory was stunned by the possibilities.

But this was not the time to think about the future, there were no more than 350 adventurers alive and they would probably face the army once again. But this time in the walls of Lathrium.

The reinforcements are probably near the city and the mages came in the front to help in the retreat of the troops here. But if Geoffrey succeeded, the leader of them is dead and they have no food. What means cannibalism or a desperate fight in the city walls.

'Robert... We can win now, and after that, I will fix the mistake I made with that settlement. I know that many non-humans died from our actions. But at least I will give a good life for the ones we saved... somehow.' Gremory thought that Robert was maybe listening to him, but he was not. Yet, someone was listening...
