Ren Satoru was a strong child, even from birth. Exerting more strength then was natural even within the world of quirks, where everyone was just a little stronger. At the age of four he learned his quirk was the manipulation of 'Energy' that was present in himself, and around him, this energy when focused could be harnessed for unbelievable powers. Power to fight, to protect, to endure, to freedom, to heal, to survive. As he grew up, harnessing his gift, his quirk, and training throughout his school years, he came to a conclusion. He wanted to be a hero, not because it meant he would get a lot of money, a lot of fame, or because he would be able to help those in need, no he wanted to become a Hero to put a target on his back. To see how far his quirk and his training could take him, how far it could push him to evolve further and further. The women he met along the way were a welcomed bonus.
